“Why did you choose to bring me here?” I asked, looking at Alexei who put his glass of water down to look at me. The smell of flowers made me relax as I remembered the smell of my mother, her memory made my chest ache; however, I couldn’t help but picture her the second I smelled the orchids.

“Why do you try to find a reason behind literally everything? Can’t you just take something good into your heart? I don’t know, just accept it without asking too many questions?” He asked, glaring daggers at me. I looked down at my plate, taking a deep breath as Madeline’s words played in my head. I knew that I shouldn’t be playing with fire the way that I was, I was never allowed any freedom of speech back at the facility; however, regardless of being punished, I never seemed to learn.
