Chapter 10

I slept in fits and starts last night. After returning back to the packhouse with Harley, the doctors were able to get her stable. The doctor was able to set both her leg and her shoulder. Her leg was placed in a cast and her arm was secured against her body to keep her shoulder in place. The doctor had administered a medication that was supposed to help with the suppression of her wolf, but after no significant changes were noted, I forced myself to bed. Yesterday was a long and exhausting day, and I was hoping that a good night’s rest would bring better news in the morning.

As I stumbled out of bed, I stopped when I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. I looked rough. Dark circles ringed my eyes, the telltale sign that I didn’t get enough sleep. Although I didn’t make it to bed until 2:30 this morning, and it was only 6:45, that was typically more than enough sleep for me to be rested. Except sleep eluded me, and I probably slept no more than an hour
