When we came out of the office Machieste was pacing the floor with a fussy Connie. “There’s an angel. It’s okay my little love, does your tummy hurt?” he murmured, patting and rubbing her back. “You want me to take her for a few minutes?” I asked as I watched him continue to pace the floor. “She’ll be alright, she ate a little more from the bottle than her mum this morning so she’s just a little fussy,” he replied.

“Since we’re here, why don’t we sit down and talk for a few minutes,” I encouraged. “Is there something wrong, Alpha?” Machieste asked with his brows knitted in concern. “I wouldn’t say wrong, so much as off kilter,” I told him as I tired to think of what I wanted to say. “While you’re here Alpha, I was wondering if we could possibly come up with what my duties can be.
