Nora's POV
I walked down the stairs slowly, taking my steps one at a time. My heart was shattered beyond pieces at the words Alina had spoken to me. They pierced my heart, every single one of those words. They reminded me of how big of a mistake I had made, how I'd let everyone down simply by existing.
I reached the foot of the staircase, lifting the white dress I had on. The entire hall was silent; no fanfare or people waiting to wish me a happy married life.
This was what I deserved. To be wedded off in the most shady, unimpressive way ever.
There wasn't any cake, nor did any decorations hang from the walls. In fact, the hall was as bland as it could be.
I turned to the maid behind me, moving to ask her where the wedding would hold, when a voice shut me up immediately.
"You're ready." The voice called, sending shivers down my spine. Alpha Chester emerged from the shadows to my left, walking towards me. He was decked out in an impressive white suit, his long locks held up in a slick ponytail.
His eyes were stone-hard and offered no comfort for me. He stopped beside me, then extended his arm. "Let's go." He murmured.
Silently I slipped my hand into the crook of his elbow, and he led me to the very end of the hall. I hadn't noticed earlier, but a wolf priest was waiting for us on the other end of the hall, also dressed in white robes, complete with a purple sash around his neck.
"Alpha," the wolf priest bowed to Alpha Chester, then gave me an almost imperceptible nod of greeting. "If you two would kindly face each other."
I let go of Alpha Chester's arm and turned to him. I couldn't bear to look up and into his eyes, couldn't bear to see the grim, unforgiving gaze in those eyes. So I focused on a point below his chin, and prayed for all of this to be over soon.
"Place a hand on the other's chest. Right on the heart." The priest ordered.
Simultaneously, we raised our hands and placed it on the other's chest. I could feel the hard thumping of his heart below my fingers, his heat flowing into my skin.
"Repeat these vows after me," the priest murmured. "Beneath the Moon Goddess's glow,"
"Beneath the Moon Goddess' glow," I murmured, and Alpha Chester did the same.
"We unite as werewolf mates." The priest continued, and we echoed after him. Line after line we repeated, as the priest joined us together forever. My heart was beating heavily, so heavily that I could hear it in my ears. Slowly Alpha Chester's heartbeats began to match mine, until our hearts became one in sync.
"That's all." The priest concluded, and our hands slipped from the other's breast.
We stood facing each other, his eyes grim and cold, mine sullen and sad. His jaw tightened as I regarded him, and then he spoke.
"I'll meet you in the Luna's bedroom in five minutes." He growled. Then he walked away before I could utter a response.
*****
I waited for him in the Luna's bedroom, pacing the room's length and gathering my courage. I knew what would come next after our mating ceremony was the consummation, but I would rather die than let him take me.
He had taken my freedom already, and this was the last shred of dignity I had left.
It would never be his.
I halted in my steps as the door of the room swung open. Alpha Chester walked in, still dressed in his wedding garb minus the jacket. Swiftly he closed the door behind him, then began to unbutton his shirt.
"Take off your dress," he commanded.
I stood on the spot, unresponsive.
Alpha Chester stopped unbuttoning his shirt and glared at me, eyebrows raised. "Take off your dress, Nora." He repeated the order, his voice laced with danger.
"No." I said simply.
"Excuse me?"
"No." I repeated, my heart hammering away. "I will never, ever release my body to you. I will never be yours."
I watched as the rock-solid green of his eyes blaze with anger, and my confidence dropped a notch. "I own you," he growled. "I am your mate now!"
"Not if I reject you first!" I said, my voice trembling. "I, Nora Farkas reject you, Alpha Chester as my mate!"
There, I thought. That was easier than I had thought.
Alpha Chester burst out laughing, the sound startling me. I took several steps backward as he approached me, shirt half unbuttoned, green eyes smoldering.
"In your dreams, Nora." He whispered into my face, his breath fanning my cheeks. Then he reached up and grabbed my neck in his hand, forcing my head up.
I gasped as his fingers wound round my neck. Before I could utter any more words, Alpha Chester reached down and pressed a hot kiss against my lips, forcing them open.
His mouth tasted of blood and grapes, a strange, warm taste that forced a whimper of longing from my mouth. His lips were forceful, prodding, trying to push inwards. But I kept my lips firmly shut, unwilling to betray my desire to him.
My hands stayed firmly by my side, even though they ached to reach up and rake through his thick, dark hair. I didn't want him to stop, and yet I didn't want him to know that I wanted him.
He pulled his mouth away, his green eyes darkened with desire. "Now, take off your clothes," he ordered again.
He didn't need to do so twice. I unzipped my wedding dress and let it fall to the ground, pooling around my legs. I stepped out of the dress and slipped into the bed, watching him tower over me.
Quickly he slipped out of his clothes until he stood naked before me, all muscles and hard edges. His long hair had slipped from the ponytail, and was billowing around his shoulders now.
He was so beautiful it made my heart sing.
He slipped into the bed with me, his large frame hovering above me. Quickly he forced my knees up, and before I could say a word, he pushed one finger into my folds.
I was already dripping wet for him.
The result was a gasp from my lips. He withdrew that one finger, then dipped in again, taking me inch after inch. My body grew warmer as he continued to finger me, driving me closer and closer to my orgasm.
"You are mine, Nora." He growled, voice thick with desire. "Mine forever."
Then he withdrew his finger and pushed into me, taking my virtue in one clean thrust.
A groan slipped from my mouth as he filled me up with his warm, hard dick. The feeling was alien—as I'd never done this before—but surprisingly welcome.
He had made me his forever, claimed my body as he had taken my freedom at that marketplace.
He pinned my hands up and drove into me with an animal-like growl, as we made love with a raw intensity. Each time I kept reminding myself that I didn't want this, and yet, with each stroke of his dick, the sensation of hot pleasure increased.
I felt the pleasure spiraling inside me, tightening until it exploded. I let out a loud groan of pleasure as he also jerked into me in release, despite a tiny part of my mind reminding me that this would be my ugly future forever. With him.
Afterward, he collapsed on top of me, his breathing every bit as ragged as my own. "You're my mate. Forever." He murmured finally.
Everything inside me clenched in rejection of the words, but I knew it was far too late. Alpha Chester had claimed me, and there was no getting out of this.
Chester's POVIt was the day after our mating ceremony. The entire Council of Wolves, including Nora and her family, were gathered in the court room to discuss the new turn of events.I refused to look at my new mate throughout the court room session. I knew that if I did, the primal urge to whisk her out of the room would come over me again, and to hell with the Council and their annoying meeting if that happened. My body was already reacting just by looking at her, and I wanted nothing more than to be left alone with her.She was seated on the other end of the long table, wedged between her father and one other Elder on the Council. I noticed the large space she left between herself and her father, noticed the way she played with her fingers as though she was nervous and scared shitless. Her face was streaked with tears, and her eyes were downcast.I hated to be the cause for her pain, but it had to be done. She was my mate, and there was no going back on that. Her father, Elder Lya
Nora's POVBefore he left the court room, I watched as the alpha grabbed my hand under the table, yanking me up. I could feel the gaze of every single person sitting around the table on me, and a blush creeped up my cheeks as I averted my eyes.I struggled to maintain a brave front as Alpha Chester pulled me along, my hand imprisoned in his unyielding grip. We left the room together, passing several maids and guards who stared at us with curiosity. The corridor seemed endless, the walls closing in on me as my heart raced with a mixture of fear and confusion.I struggled to keep up with him, as he was dragging me along without looking back. Several times I stumbled, gripping the walls for support, but Alpha Chester was relentless."Let go of me!" I finally spoke up, attempting to wrench my hand free from his grasp. Perhaps it was my courage to speak to him, or perhaps it was something else entirely, but Alpha Chester finally stopped and turned to me. His fingers tightened around my alr
CHAPTER SIXAlina's POVThe ride from Alpha Chester's house all the way back home felt like slow torture to me. I sat all the way through it, fuming profusely. My foot was tapping away on the floor of the carriage as my mind reeled from all the events of today. So quickly—in the space of a day, Nora had stolen my man. And not just that, she had cleverly forced him to consummate the union and get bound to her forever. It was like sorcery, even to my own eyes.I could feel Father's gaze upon me as he sat across the carriage. "Alina, you would do well to calm down!" He ordered."I would not calm down, father!" I snapped back. "Not until this is fixed, somehow."Immediately the carriage stopped before our house, I darted out, not waiting for Father. I stormed into our house, a tempest of anger and frustration brewing within me. I could hear Father following closely behind, his footsteps thundering through the house. The living room soon became a space for my seething emotions as I paced
NORA'S POV"You scheming, backstabbing scum!" Alina continued to scream. "You worthless runt of a wolf!"I couldn't reply her. All that came out of me were the tears that streamed down my face at her words. The things she was saying to me hit me like bricks against my fragile, ceramic heart. I had thought that she would somehow be able to forgive me, but all hope of that was lost now."Coward!" My father spat at me, his lips curled in disdain. He stood by the window, peering out at the carriage I had brought with me. "You even brought the royal guard with you, no? Too scared to come here on your own, aren't you?""Royal guard or not, I swear on the Goddess I'll tear her to shreds this instant!" Alina snarled. Her grip on my throat remained unrelenting as she hissed, "What are you looking for in our house, Nora? Are you here to do more damage than you've already done to my future? Are you here to gloat, to laugh and mock me, rub your victory in my face perhaps?"I struggled against her
.Nora's POVJonas led me out of my parents' house, his hand gently supporting me as I winced from the pain of the claw wounds on my face. The morning air was chilly, and my heart felt even colder. The broken pieces of my world and my heart seemed to scatter further with every step we took away from that house.I couldn't understand why Alina couldn't see my side of the story. Her rage and resentment had clouded her judgment, and she was blind to the fact that I had never wanted any of this. How could I explain to Alina that I had been thrust into a situation I couldn't control by the Alpha? Now my own sister was my greatest enemy, and I was helpless to change that.Jonas spoke up the moment we stepped away from the house, his voice full of disapproval. "Luna, I understand that you want to see your parents after everything that had happened these past few days. I understand that you want to set things straight with your sister."I glanced up at him, trying to ignore the pain wracking
Nora's POVAlpha Chester held on to my hand, leading me towards his chambers. I struggled with mixed emotions as we walked—I didn't know if I should be happy that he wasn't too angry, or if I should be worried. But his silence was scary and relieving at the same time.As the alpha led me through the dimly lit corridors of the pack house, his grip on my hand was firm, almost possessive. I had expected a much worse reaction to both my disobedience and the wounds on my face. My heart still pounded in my chest from the intensity of his rage back in the throne room. I had been terrified, my thoughts racing, and all I had wanted was to flee the room as fast as my legs could carry me.But then, when he had held my jaw in his large, powerful hand and inspected my wounds with a gentleness that contrasted with his earlier anger, I felt safe. Protected. I could still feel the graze of his fingers on my cheek, brushing away the trail of blood that had been running down my face. And at that moment
Alpha Chester's POVMy sleep seemed timeless.Nora had that effect on me: her mere touch could calm my frayed nerves, and sleeping right beside her was like heaven. I was acutely aware of every single inch of us that touched: her hair lying against my bare chest, her legs splayed against mine, her erect nipples poking my sides.Every single touch from her was heavenly. As I woke late in the evening, the room was bathed in the soft, warm glow of the setting sun. Its golden rays filtered through the curtains, casting long, gentle shadows across the room. This was my most favourite time of the day, when I could relax and unwind, bask in the soft glows of sunset. The light was soft, just like the woman who lay beside me, her chest rising and falling in peaceful slumber. Nora looked so serene, so utterly captivating in her vulnerability, that something within me softened as I watched her.The thought crossed my mind that I had so vulnerably bared myself to this woman, and it was totally a
Alpha Chester's POVI leaned forward, my curiosity tinged with a growing anger. "Jonas," I began, trying to keep my voice steady. "What did you notice when you went to Elder Lyall's house?"Tension sparked in the air as Jonas glanced behind him, still wary of eavesdroppers. "It couldn't be overlooked, alpha." He murmured. "It was obvious, the kind of intention that Elder Lyall and his family have towards the Luna.""Speak already!" I growled.Jonas nodded, meeting my gaze with unwavering determination. "So when I was at the Farkas family home with the Luna, I noticed Elder Lyall and his wife's reaction to Alina harming the Luna. It was—"He paused, then continued again. "It was as if her parents wanted harm to come to her, as though they wanted her out of the picture. They didn't intervene when Alina humiliated her, almost as if they saw her mere existence as a threat."I pursed my lips, pondering. "Honestly, I see no reason why they wouldn't want to kick her out of the picture. Elder
