Chapter 50

Emily's POV

As I approached the cyber truck, one I'd seen only on TV, I took large breaths and swallowed several times. It felt like I'd swallowed my voice too.

“Hello.” I said, as I got within what I deemed to be earshot.

There was no response, and it made me second guess if I really spoke out loud or in my head.

I heard a snicker, and that was the sign that he undoubtedly heard me.

I didn't know who it was, but I could very well narrow my options. Regardless, I was determined not to take bullshit from anyone.

“I think the ‘no smoking’ signs are clear enough. Good morning.” I said, but not before I slapped the half burnt cigarette out of his hand, and crushed it beneath my feet.

“Good morning, Emily.” He looked up and smiled at me.

It was a pretty smile, I couldn't deny that, but I was already too irritated, so I smiled curtly and made my way inside.

There were a thousand stuff running through my head and the only way to get it out was to drive.     Emily's POV “Let's give her a minute.” I said. I grabbed his hand and we left. We stood in the hallway for an uncomfortable while. People passed to and fro, watching us, even though they all had their cares to deal with.     Emily's POV I stayed still till I was sure that I had no company anymore. Matter of fact, I watched by my window as Vera and her hooded man made it out. Another thing I took note of was that the security guy was quite familiar with him. It was one of two things. Either he worked in Nevada, or our security had began eating from two plates. Five a.m. struck, and I watched the digital alarm in my office that goes off at the top of the hour ring.
