Chapter 13

Really, I had gotten more done yesterday than I thought. All of the old wood had been removed and plywood had been laid down. The next part was the underlayment which kept the water off the plywood and then the shingles went on top of that. I was ready to put the underlayment on but I had run out of the larger nails I needed. My arms needed a break from using the hammer anyways. I woke up this morning feeling like I had noodle arms.

With my backpack and a couple of thermoses of tea, I walked into town. It was pretty early, about eight in the morning when I finally made it to the main street. As I was walking five men walked past me. They bumped into me, not even moving out of the way.
