“Fucking shit. God fucking bullshit dumb ass…” I continued to curse as I pushed on the wrench that refused to give.
Currently, I was under the house. I pulled up some of the rotted floor boards to get at the plumbing underneath the house. It took the entire previous day but I had cleaned out the water filter and pump on the side of the house. It was definitely where the green tint was coming from. The filter had been surprisingly undamaged and so I left it in there after cleaning it out. Now I just need to find where the hell the brown was coming from in the pipes.
“Mother fucking dick…” I kicked the wrench with my heel. “Fucking move god damn it.”
Kicking it again, I felt it budge every so slightly. Elated, I grabbed the wrench and pushed. It moved slowly, the creaking of the pipes filled the small space but finally it gave.

“Can I see it? The mark?” Desmond asked after a few minutes. He looked like he has been sitting on the question for a while. Closing my eyes, I tried to hold it in, stuff it down.

We had pulled up all the floor boards and put plywood down first. I used the waterproof cover on the bottom of the plywood before nailing it down, hoping that would keep at least some of the water away. After that, I put a layer of moisture protection and then the actual flooring on top of that. Desmond had put in each of the pieces after I had sanded them down by hand so that I wouldn’t get any splinters until I could seal it. “Fuck, I’m tired.” I flopped down in the middle of the clearing. Desmond chuckled and sat down next to me. “I don’t think I’ve done so much construction in my life.” I laughed. “You are so lucky your dad is the construction guru.” “Ungrateful.” “Oh…sorry. ***Desmond’s POV*** I felt the shift in the bond. My laughter quieted as I looked at my mate. She was leaning against the house, her head up. Noticing the tears streaming down her face, I quickly moved up to her. My hands held her head and I searched her face. The bond was wavering between multiple emotions from her but the major one was despair. “Olivia?” She shook her head but I pulled her head to me, our foreheads touching. I held onto her until she finally looked at me, tears streaming down her face. “I’m here. I’m not going anywhere.” I brushed her cheek with my thumb. “I’m yours, Olivia.” More tears fell from her eyes and she tried to shake her head but I held her head straight. “You are my soulmate. Helena hadn’t come back for two nights after that. I took the kids to school and worked at the pack house for most of the time. My heart started to hurt and I knew I would maybe have one day left in me without needing to see her. Olivia hadn’t come into town all the days as well. I kept feeling for the bond, just in case. In case I could steal her away for a moment but she didn’t come. My father had come by, saying he was doing another delivery out to her and was wondering if I wanted to go but I was so backed up I could feel Scott boring into my back. Daring me to say yes. I had seen Nasir a couple times in the morning. He would stop for pets and then continue about his business. No one had complained about a wolf being nearby. He had been keeping a low enough profile, so I didn’t mind him running around early. Taking a deep, calculated breath, I glared at Scott. “I’m gonna need a break soon.” He scoffed. “You don’t need a break Alpha. You’re fit as fiddle.”

The woman stepped up to me and looked over me. Her nails dragged over my chest as she walked around me. “I have heard of you, Alpha Desmond. You have protected my people, given them sanctuary, safe passage, and even avenged them.” She tsked. “But even with all that, I’m not sure I can feel that you are worthy of my daughter.” I smiled. “That is something we can agree on.” Tatiana looked at me with a smirk. “So you understand how special my little mongrel is?” “Yes, My Queen. The wind made me shiver and I opened up my eyes. Sitting up, I looked around. I was in the clearing by Olivia’s house. Blinking, I tried to think of what had happened.
