Avery Elise’s P. O. V.

When I woke up, I was confused that I didn’t get to see Duke in bed. I looked at my body and found that I’m still covered with the mattress, only my und*rwear was left intact on me, like how I slept after what Duke and I did last night.

I thought that Duke and I would really consummate our marriage last night, and that he will mark me as his wife through my body, but none of that happened.

He didn’t push through after we reached the peak of our own needs. Duke was too gentle when he laid me down on the bed and let me sleep, though not in his arms because he got a call last night, but he told me to sleep here, in his bed.

I smiled before I looked at the digital watch beside me. It’s already five in the morning, a bit early for my first class but I prefer to wake up at this time. I saw Duke’s polo in the corner, it’s new and looked clean so I picked it up before I wore it and went out of his room.
