Chapter 11

Avery Elise’s P. O. V.

I was walking down the stairs when Duke glanced in my direction and his eyes focused on me. I felt conscious because his emotionless face never changed, but I saw when his lips slightly parted open before he regain his cold and serious composure again.

I wanted to smile at myself because I somehow got his attention, but before I can even do that, I already caught myself. Why do I feel happy knowing that in a short span of time, Duke gave his attention to me?

His looks could also mean that I don’t look presentable enough in his eyes.

When I stood in front of Duke, he looked at me from head to toe before he avoided his eyes on me and cleared his throat.

“Let’s go,” he said before he encircled his arm on my waist.

I looked at him with a confused look before I walk beside him out of the mansion.

“Where are we going?” I asked in a low tone of my voice.
