Avery Elise’s P. O. V.

I was looking down after I cut off Duke’s words and told him what I did to Zack before. I got no plans of telling him that, but my mouth just moved on its own to tell him the truth.

I find it hard to lie and keep a secret from Duke. I don’t know why I’m reacting that way, but it feels like doing that is committing a crime against my own husband.

“Why?” Duke asked with his voice holding an emotion I couldn’t name. “Zack is a Lycan Lord and the Alpha of Minrod Pack.” His voice sounded intrigued now. “The moment you found out that he was your mate, you had all the reason to accept him and benefit from his rank and power. But how come that despite all that he can give you, you still rejected him?”
