Another Confrontation

HARIA'S POV

As Kate and I walked away, we still heard my brother's loud voice.

"What's going on here?" His voice was too authoritative. It's a good thing he didn't see me and Kate there because for sure, I'll receive nonstop sermons from him and he'll even embarrass me in front of the crowd.

Although I still want to confront the man who wants to score with me, it's better that we leave. But why do I seem to be more annoyed with the man who helped us than the man who harassed us? I don't know, I don't understand myself either. Maybe because of the embarrassing moment that happened to us inside the comfort room when our paths crossed in the city. Yes, I suddenly felt ashamed of myself when I found out that that man was also a member of the Blue Blood Pack. And that's not all, because it looks like I will often see him here at the camp if Dad's plan to register me in the training goes through.

"Wait a minute, Kate," I said a little breathlessly as I got out of Kate's grip and stopped walking when I estimated that we were already far away from the place where the trouble happened. "Let's rest for now. It looks like we've gotten away from them."

"It's a good thing that your older brother didn't see us," Kate said as she also stopped walking and sat on the big rock that was there.

"Who are those guys? Do you know them?" I asked with annoyance in my voice, although I wasn't sure if Kate would be able to answer me either.

"I don't know either, cousin. But based on what I've heard, the name of the man who harassed us is Marky and the one who helped us is Jacob," Kate answered after thinking for a bit as if not sure of his answer. "And based on my observation earlier while they were arguing, it looks like they are trainees to be soldiers of the Blue Blood Pack."

"It was so annoying! My mood is already ruined, then those guys ruined it even more."

"Wait, cousin. Why do you seem so angry with the man who helped us? Don't you realize that if it wasn't for him, that Marky would have completely harassed us?"

"What are you talking about? Don't you realize that they just did an act? They just planned it to get my attention," I insisted. I don't want her to know that one of the reasons why I'm upset with Jacob is because of what happened to us inside the comfort room.

"What if you're thinking wrong? That Jacob is really a good guy and helping others is really in his heart?"

"Tell me, Kate. Whose side are you on?" I faced Kate with a hint of annoyance in my voice. "It's like you believe him more than me."

"It's not like that, cousin. I got your point, but I'm still not ruling out the possibility that Jacob is really kind and genuinely helping us. And that Marky is really the bad guy."

"Whatever. Just look for someone to talk to if you will insist that on me," I said annoyingly as I continued walking and left her. And she quickly followed me and even held my hand.

"Wait, cousin," she said hurriedly after she grabbed one of my hands.

"What? Let me go!" I immediately removed her hand as I stopped walking. "Just go with those fools. After all, they're the ones you believe in."

"I believe you, cousin. I'm not just taking away the..." I didn't let her finish what she was saying and speak immediately.

"Don't go on with what you want to say, Kate. We will surely argue with that. The style of those guys won't sell on me. What is the name of the guy who you're saying helped us?"

"As far as I remember, he was called Jacob by the other guy he got into a fight with," Kate immediately answered. "Jacob, a beta and a trainee to be a soldier of the Blue Blood Pack."

"Jacob, a beta trainee of the Blue Blood Pack. I'll remember his name well."

After saying that I continued walking and Kate immediately followed me.

"Where are we going now, cousin?" she asked as she hurriedly walked to catch up with me.

"Going into the mansion, inside my room," I answered immediately, in a voice that was still irritated. "I will only get even more annoyed if I stay here outside."

"I'll go with you. I don't want to stay here anymore either."

We had just entered the mansion when we heard my brother's loud voice. He was obviously mad and maybe, someone already told him that I was involved in the trouble that happened earlier, so he hurriedly looked for me.

"What's the problem, big bro?" I asked in a calm and seemingly innocent voice after getting near him. I tried not to let him notice that I was guilty of involvement in the trouble that happened earlier but it seems that he already knew and he is now in front of me to confront me about it.

"Damn you, Haria! You still dare to ask me what's the problem!"

"W-Why, brother? W-What did I do wrong?" I asked, as if I was surprised, although I already knew what he meant.

"Do you think I wouldn't know the trouble you just got involved with again tonight," he continued as his voice remained firm and authoritative.

"What did I do wrong, brother, for you to treat me like this? As far as I know, I'm not doing anything bad," I answered him seriously. Although I am guilty, I still don't like the way he confronted me as if I had committed a big sin.

"Are you sure? So, what the trainees reported to me was just a rumor? Even Jacob told me that you were involved in the trouble that happened earlier."

"J-Jacob?" I was stunned after hearing that familiar name from my brother. I even looked at Kate next to me, who had not been able to speak for a while and was just listening. And she just shrugged in response.

"Yes, Jacob Cabarse, one of the trainees to be a soldier of our pack," my brother answered firmly.

"Doesn't he know me to accuse me of something like that? Doesn't he know that I'm the daughter of the ruler of the Blue Blood Pack?" The annoyance that I feel for the beta guy, Jacob, for not recognizing me as the Alpha's daughter is getting stronger now. It's okay if we are in the city but here at the camp, well, I deserve some respect coming from a beta like him.

"If you think you can do whatever you want here in the camp, you are mistaken, Haria. I will never tolerate you for your bad behavior. Actually, it is better that they don't know your true identity. Because you only bring shame to our family." Those words that my brother uttered caused a strange pain inside me. It was as if something sharp pierced my heart causing me to tear up a little.

"W-Who is that Jacob Cabarse and it looks like he's the one you believe more than me, your own sister?" I shouted while trying to stop the tears from falling from my eyes.

"Jacob is one of the best trainees of our pack. That's why he's more believable than you. Yes, you are my sister, but you've never done anything right. You're just a troublemaker and always dragging our family into shame," he answered while expressing his frustrations toward me.

"Your words are quite hurtful, brother." I was completely in tears now as I was even more hurt by what my brother said.

"What Haria was saying..." Kate was not given a chance to finish what she wanted to say as she was just starting to speak, my brother immediately interrupted.

"Don't try to cover your cousin, Kate! That's why her head is getting bigger and bigger," he snapped as he turned to Kate.

"I can't believe this." I even raised my two hands because of frustration towards my older brother. "How could you do this to me? It's like I'm not your sister."

"If you want me to consider you as my sister, then, fix yourself," he said in a firm voice. Then he turned his back on me.

"Let's go, Kate! We're going to go see Jacob Cabarse and bring him to my brother to prove to him that I'm not doing anything wrong," I said angrily as I turned around and started walking out of the mansion.

"Don't do it, Haria! You will just create another trouble!"

I heard my brother's loud voice but I just ignored it and continued walking out of the mansion. Kate immediately followed me, while being very worried about what I was planning to do.

"Whatever you're planning, cousin, don't go ahead with it. Your brother will only get angrier at you."

"No, Kate. I have to bring that Jacob Cabarse to my brother to clear my name," I answered my cousin in a firm voice as I continued walking. "It's up to you if you don't want to come with me. I'm not going to force you."

It seems that Kate was really afraid that my brother would get angry at her and she didn't come with me anymore.

I need someone who knows Jacob Cabarse so I can easily get him wherever he is at this moment. So I took a mansion guard with me instead. He got a taste of my anger first when he hesitated because he didn't want to leave his assigned post.

Jacob wasn't at the party so we went to his barracks and just in time, I saw a shirtless man so I immediately approached him.

"Hey, are you the liar and impolite Jacob Cabarse?" I immediately asked when I got close to where he was. Although he had his back turned, I was sure that the man I approached was Jacob Cabarse, whom I had been so annoyed with for a while.

"Yes, I am. Why?" he answered, but he didn't turn to me and just continued with what he was doing. He's not just a liar and impolite, he is also rude.

"Hey! Don't be rude! Face me! Don't you know who I am here in the Blue Blood Pack?"

"Why? Who are you?" he's still not turning to me as he was busy washing his clothes. Maybe he doesn't care at all and rudeness is really in his nature.

"I said, face me! You bastard!" I couldn't hold back the annoyance I was feeling anymore so I stepped closer to him. I was about to pull his hair when the guard who was with me suddenly grabbed me by the shoulder.

"We have to go back, Madam. Alpha Jomer might be looking for us already," the guard said worriedly. But I just glared at him and refused to follow what he wanted. He's just a guard in the mansion and I'm the daughter of the ruler of our pack. Who does he think should be one to be followed?

"Please, Madam Haria. Alpha Jomer might fire me in this state," the guard begged with me.

"No, Guard! I'm not done talking to him!" I answered in a hard voice.

Then, I looked back at the man who was the reason why I was here and seething with anger.

"You're Jacob Cabarse, aren't you? Tell me, what have I done to you that you're spreading rumors about me?" I snorted at the impolite man.

"Rumors? What rumors?" He seemed confused and didn't understand what I meant.

"Respect her, Mr. Cabarse. She is the daughter of the ruler of our pack. She's Alpha Jerwin's daughter. And the sister of Alpha Jomer, the one next in line to the throne of being the ruler of the Blue Blood Pack," the guard suddenly spoke as he turned to Jacob.

"Y-You are Alpha Jerwin's daughter?" I could clearly see the slight surprise in his reaction because of what he heard.

"Now, you know me, Mr. Jacob Cabarse," the words I uttered were emphasized as I turned to him.

"B-But I'm not spreading any rumors against you, M-Madam," he insisted, but this time, in a calm voice. He now knows how to address me correctly.

"Really, huh? Why did you tell my brother that I was involved in the trouble that happened earlier?"

"But you were indeed..."

"You're still going to argue with me about that." I didn't let him finish talking because for sure, he will insist on what he thought was right.

"Madam, we need to go back to the mansion now. Alpha Jomer might be looking for us already," the guard interrupted as he turned his gaze to me.

"I don't care!" I shouted back at him. "What if he gets angry? I don't care!"

Then, I turned my attention back to Jacob Cabarse

"Come with me to the mansion, Mr. Cabarse, and take back what you said to my brother, that I was involved in the trouble that happened earlier."

After saying that, I immediately grabbed his arm and started dragging him toward the mansion.

"W-Wait, Madam! What are you doing?"

I just ignored what he was saying and I didn't let him get out of my grip even though he was trying.

"It's true that you were involved in the trouble that happened earlier. So why are you making such a fuss?" he continued as if he was already annoyed.
