"I never expected this to happen."

"You heard the news?"

"Yes," I answered Weston gravely while staring outside.

The sun was setting, slowly hiding under the horizon of tall buildings in the city, and darkness started to spread. Shadows stretched on the main streets and at every corner of my vast, luxurious office. I heaved a sigh. I never thought this could be serious. But with what happened to Sandra Andersen, there was no way I would let this issue slip.

Someone was clearly threatening me.

I looked at Weston over my right shoulder. My mind was filled with worry for Cassandra. I knew she was upset with me when I didn’t even give her time to accompany her on her way to the university, but I just couldn’t bear the idea of seeing her leave Albrecht’s Castle. A deal was a deal. I never wanted her to leave, but I had to honor my words and let her go. She always wanted college; all I wanted was to give her the happiness she deserved.
