55. Saying Goodbyes

Despite Isaac wanting to go back the previous evening, I did not relent. In no way was I going to go back without saying goodbyes to the few who matters to me. So here I am, early the next day, waiting for the Alpha of the Shadow pack.

I wait for Caius at his office. Wringing my fingers nervously, I let my gaze flicker around the office. The office has always been bare and minimalistic.

I still remember sitting here and asking him if he would let me work with the Healer. I had never visited his office. Isleen was so small then. I sigh, how time passes.

Caius walks in after some time. He stops when he notices me before heading to his desk. "You are going back."

It isn't a statement.

I wring my fingers nervously and offer him a small smile.

"I think?"

He raises an eyebrow. I sigh and nod.

"I guess I will. After all it's not..."

I trail off when I see his scowl darken.

"I mean he was sick so..."

"Are you sure? Is Isleen also okay with it?" He asks the last question somewhat
