Sophie POV

The biting pain in my chest was fleeting, but the ache lingered. The rumors didn't lie, huh. Rejecting one's mate caused actual physical pain, and the one being rejected feels it more.

My wolf whimpered with fear as I braced myself for the big wolf to lead with the appropriate words. I was terrified of the agony that was to come, but this couldn't be helped.

Alpha Jett was about to speak when his Beta stalked towards me.

"Insolent!" He spat. "You disrespectful, runaway, spawn of the enemy! You dared reject..." he clenched his lips in anger. "You defy Goddess and your ALPHA. You will be pun-"

Jett held up a finger, stopping him from finishing the sentence.

"That's alright, Clove." His face relaxed a little as he took a deep breath. "She'll get her due once we finish what we came here for!"

Why was he wasting my time?

'Say the damn words already!'

Then again, we had time. Darkness had just fallen. The moon was not going anywhere for the next ten hour

I knew she’d be the one to try to get rid of her competition. Hopefully Sophia will tell so Jett will comprehend the gravity of his decisions. She should have just let him finish his rejection and been in the clear. Stupid female.

  • Alpha Jett   Chp 63: The blame game

Sophie POVI was not yet free even though this place was not the city of the Night Storm. Not only was I on the run from two Alphas, but Baton Rouge was run by two packs based on Merritt's warning. I must hide from the other wolves, too.I'd lived in this city for about a year and was able to steer clear of werewolves without effort, oblivious to the fact that there were more of them here than most places that I'd been. The goal was to pretend I didn't know. Just for another hour or two till I could vanish from this entire zip code.It was morning, so the streets were as busy as usual with a mild traffic building up on the highway. My nerves were fried and not just from running. I had no intention to stop yet. The forest was a stone throw from where I was.Glancing around casually, I recalled all of the times I'd fearlessly walked these streets with Krys and the girls. That I'd actually worked for Alpha Merritt without suspecting for one second that a werewolf owned that club was unb

  • Alpha Jett   Chp 62: Hunter and unwed

Jett POVI wanted to resume the fight with Merritt, but that would waste time. He and I would have to settle it later once Raven was safe and sound in my house. Right now, she was out in the woods, getting as far away from me as possible or falling into the hands of a Crimson Lake warrior. I couldn't decide which of the two was worse as I dove out the window and set out for another round of search. She left that room minutes ago and obviously still had a scent blocker in her possession. Merritt, the moron, didn't know? Or was it really him who arranged for her to get the liquid?Paw prints were everywhere. Wolves and she-wolves had been going about all morning. How did I begin to track her without the faintest trace of scent? The sound of werewolves following behind increased my fury. I turned back, snarling for them to stay away as Merritt's eyes flashed with shame. He should be very ashamed for losing her. I didn't want him or anyone near me. I only wanted Raven. Then Merritt be

  • Alpha Jett   Chp 61: The Raven's escape

Sophie POV(Earlier, during the escape)Just like Andy promised, there were no werewolves on my path. Everything was going smoothly, according to plan. Until I snuck past the border. A presence registered. It felt like they were standing a few feet away, but they hid well out of sight. Thankfully, the scent blocker was still doing its thing. It would fade in a few minutes, but there were still a few drops left. The presence could not scent me yet. It was hard to tell if they'd seen me or merely waiting. They had to be Andy's guy. He'd instructed me to go south, so I turned towards the north. Holding my breath, I kept my paws as silent as I could and stuck close to the shrubs and thick bushes. Then, all of a sudden, something dropped in front of me like a rock. I jumped as my heart shot to my throat. Without checking who, I began swinging my claws, fighting back before they even attacked. It took a moment to see who was in front of me. Another she-wolf. Bigger. And I knew her quite we

Jett POV"What do you mean she's missing? She can't be! Kyle and Vera are on guard."My voice sounded strange to me. My wolf threatened to force himself out as I spoke. Clove replied by repeating hesitantly that it was Kyle who had called him. He was still speaking when I spotted Vera. She waited down the hallway with her head bowed and shoulders, rising and falling as she kept panting like she'd just run ten million miles. My panic rose. I stepped fully into the hallway. Clove moved back while continuing with the dreaded report,"According to Vera, she went to the bathroom and hadn't been seen since. It's been what? Ten, fifteen minutes?" He glanced at the female, who nodded frantically, muttered breathlessly,"Yes. Give or take.""Andy have some wolves searching the entire pack," he went on. "Kyle and Jeff are searching outside the bord..."I couldn't wait for him to finish. I dashed for the stairs. Vera must've thought I was coming for her. She yelped and gave way as I all but

Jett POVGripping Sabrina by the shoulders, I forced her off me and broke the kiss as I gasped,"What the hell!" "Jett, I don't care," she cried softly, stepping back into my personal space. "I don't wanna wait for the wedding." Her hands moved to fondle my chest as I backed away. An odd scent filled the air. She was truly aroused. Well, that's too bad."I prefer to wait!" I said, catching both her hands to stop the unwanted caress. The scent grew stronger and mildly nauseating as she insisted,"Our packs want us united, Jett.""I know that..."Her small body stood a quarter of an inch close, cramming me to the door as she tiptoed to try another kiss. I moved before her lips caught mine this time. All I could think of was how different Raven had felt in my arms. With both hands on her shoulders again, I gently pushed her away,"Stop!"She stepped back, her eyes wide with innocent shock."What's the matter?" She asked softly. When she blinked, she seemed so small and naive that I fe

  • Alpha Jett   Chp 58: The Alpha seduction

Jett POVThe question irritated me. Perhaps because I didn't have an answer. Or maybe because it increased my suspicion about his feelings for Raven.I ignored it and said aloud,"You may get back to work!" At the same time, the sound of a ringing phone filled the foyer with Clove's presence. "Hey, Andy. Top of the morning!""You too, Beta," Andy returned, gulping down the last of his drink. He set the cup down, gave me a slight bow, then took his leave."Alpha, I was coming to remind you of that important call we talked about. But Doctor Moss is on the phone."Well, that was equally important, so I snatched the ringing phone from him and stepped away to take the call. Raven was still on her way out of the building with Kyle and Vera. She looked back, and our eyes met briefly before she stepped outside."Her nose is fine, Alpha," came the doctor's gentle voice. "I didn't find anything strange. Also, when I went to see her yesterday, she sensed me before I walked into the room. Every
