Catriona’s POV

“I’m no longer cold.” I whisper a few moments later, shimmying to get away.

His hand clamps on my bare thigh and I yelp.

“Where are you running off to?” He growls. “Be still before I get Phil to take my place.”

“You wouldn’t dare.” I say.

“You want to bet on it?” He asks with a dangerous smirk and I stay in place.

“Look what I caught.” Lucian finally steps inside, drenched from head to toe with a dead squirrel in his hands and the group cheers. I feel like cheering myself, ex

  • Alpha Kael and his Chosen Luna   Fifty two

Catriona's POVI must have run back to my room because I slam my door and turn the lock just as I hear banging on the door. "Catriona!" Alpha Kael’s voice calls and I stumble back from the door, the vision of them in each other's arms still leaving me stunned. "Leave me alone." I hiss. "Open up. Now." He commands and my hands ball into fists. He has alot of audacity- I'll give him that. "Leave me alone! Get the fuck away from me." I snarl. The feeling in my chest is tearing itself apart, wetness tracks down my eyes and I touch it to see tears. I never imagined I would ever find them like that but even then, I'm surprised at how much I’m affected. My balled fists are literally shaking with rage. "Open up now or I'll break this door down." He says from outside. I glare at the door separating us and I know he would break down that door but I don't wait for him to because I actually have alot to say to him. I turn the lock and yank it open, breathing hard and feeling my rage expand

  • Alpha Kael and his Chosen Luna   Fifty one

Catriona’s POVI clutch the little piece of paper as time crawls by. Brienne comes in a while later and I consider telling her about it, the note didn’t mention anything about bringing anyone along but what if it’s dangerous and I end up putting her in harm’s way?So I say nothing about the note as she cleans the wound and wraps it in clean linen, then gives me something for the pain. “You need rest, you can’t go along traipsing around the keep again if you want a speedy recovery.” She chastises. “Yes Mom.” I reply and she shakes her head ruefully, probably aware that I don’t intend to follow that particular instruction. When midnight strikes, I throw my hood on to shield against the cold and make my way out. By the time I get to the western balcony, I’m sweating lightly and the pain in my leg is beginning to break through the dose of whatever medication Brienne gave me. I make a mental note to tell her to increase it tomorrow as I slip a dagger into my palm and emerge on the weste

  • Alpha Kael and his Chosen Luna   Fifty

Catriona’s POV“What if I meet with him?” I ask a few moments later and Alpha Kael throws me a look. “That will never happen.” He replies. “Hear me out. This is not a war that we can win without casualties, and if there’s a way we can broker an alliance without bloodshed, shouldn’t we take that?” I ask even though my stomach twists painfully at having to face the terrifying silhouette of that man from my memory. “To what end?” Alpha Kael snarls. “Are you going to throw yourself at every werewolf that causes trouble to broker peace?” “That’s unfair.” I say, stung. “Then what are you suggesting? He went to so much trouble to get you, we just barely survived that and you want to walk willfully into his arms?” He asks, his voice getting agitated. “It’s a bad idea.” Lucian agrees with him and I raise my hands in surrender. “Fine, I just wanted to throw that suggestion out there, it’s not like I have a death sentence.” I reply, leaning heavily on Lucian as we walk because the pain in

  • Alpha Kael and his Chosen Luna   Forty nine

Catriona's POVFrom the last time I saw him to now, Arnold looks like he has obviously gone through a lot. The stench of the sewers has permeated the room, making it obvious where exactly he has spent the last twenty four. Gone is the confident businessman smile, he tries to hide it but his terror is obvious. It doesn't look like he has been roughened up yet but if there was ever an alpha not to double-cross, Alpha Kael is way up on that list. Alpha Kael turns to us as we enter. "What is she doing here?" He snarls. "I would have come down on my own is Lucian didnt bring me." I reply, hiding my wince of pain as I limp forward and drop into the seat opposite Arnold. Such a deceptively formal arrangement, Arnold is sitting too and this could be a normal meeting if the walls weren't steeped with petrification, if the very air here didn't emit a terrible misery from all the torture and suffering that has happened in here and if the walls on my far right weren’t decorated with terrifyin

  • Alpha Kael and his Chosen Luna   Forty eight

Catriona’s POVA scream rips from my throat and then the world tilts- up is down and I’m rolling until my head hits something hard and I black out. When I wake up, I’m disoriented for a second but the entire world has gone to shit. Something hit our carriage at full force and we have been rammed off the road. I’m on my back, a little disoriented and the afternoon sun is on my face. “Hela?” I call and she stirs beside me. “What the fuck was that?” She asks and glances at me then her eyes widen. “Oh goddess, you’re bleeding.”“What?” I ask and pull myself up to a sitting position and that’s when I see my leg. A sharp metal is now lodged in my thigh and my blood is everywhere. My vision swoops and I’m suddenly swamped with pain.“Fuck.” I grit out. “It’s okay.” She says hurriedly. “You’ll be fine, I’ve got you.”Peony stirs from inside the carriage while Hela carries me off the floor. “Oh goddess, is she fine?” Peony asks which is a rhetorical question but I give her a smile anyway.

  • Alpha Kael and his Chosen Luna   Forty seven

Catriona’s POV“You really don’t have to.” Peony says for the umpteenth time. “Oh shush, I’m coming with you and that’s final.” I reply. “I’ve been cooped up for way too long.”“Well, what does that have to do with me?” Hela grumbles dourly. “You know I hate going to the market.”“Well, you need alot of things for starters. Change of clothes, change of shoes, a perfume won’t be bad either. The change of environment will be good for you.”“Did you just casually put it out there that I reek?” Hela asks. “Well, not reek particularly.” I reply. “But a softer scent won’t be a bad look on you at all.” I correct. “You impertinent rascal.” She tries to punch my arm and I dance away from her reach thanks to years of practice. A casual punch from Hela can take my arm out for days. “Get back here.” She snarls and chases after me and I grab Peony, shoving her between us as we run circles around her. “Girls, decorum.” She calls and I hide behind her. “Tell her that. She’s the one chasing me
