Pack meeting

Alpha Kilhan

“Don’t you think that reward is just too much for her?” Drex asked, and I shook my head.

“Nothing is too much for my mate, Drex. You of all people should understand this. You found your mate, didn’t you?”

“Yes, I did. I’m just worried about you, that's all.”

“Don’t worry about me, Drex. I know exactly what I want and I want her. Have you started receiving any calls?” I asked, sitting behind my desk.

“Not yet. The papers were shared just this morning. It will take a little time before we start receiving calls.” He answered, and I bobbed, reaching for the files he brought to me.

“I think we should discuss our expansion plan to the pack. Who knows? They’ll have some ideas to share with us.” He added, and I nodded in agreement.

“Pass a message across to them. We will be having a meeting as soon as possible.” I answered and he nodded, standing up and walking out of the office.

I packed up a copy of the ‘Wanted’ posters we shared and stared at her face again.

‘I know this isn’t the best way to go about it, but I’m running out of options. It’s been two weeks and all search plans have proved abortive. I know you’re probably going to be so mad at me when you find out, but I promise to make it up to you as soon as we meet again.’ I thought to myself, letting out a feeble smile.

There was a knock on my door which interrupted my moment, causing me to drop the paper on the table again.

“What?”

“Alpha Kilhan, a man named Jarius is here to see you.” One of my bodyguards announced from outside the door.

“Let him in.” I responded eagerly, moving from behind my desk to the sofas in my office. The door opened and Jarius walked in with a large brown envelope in his hand.

“Alpha Kilhan.” He greeted me as we both shook hands.

I gestured to him to sit on one of the sofas and he did.

“What do you have for me?” I asked, and he passed me the envelope.

“I found something new. Two sealed records. First is the proof of half a billion dollars sent to an account in Texas by your father, and the other is a report from the autopsy carried out on his body. They found extremely dangerous amounts of Methamphetamine in his veins which caused them to collapse. They also discovered some internal bleeding, muscle breakdown and circulation issues.”

“Meth? How didn’t we know this earlier?” I asked in confusion , reading through the autopsy reports in my hand.

“Because it was hidden.”

Since I got to know my father, he had never once done drugs. ‘How is this even possible?’

“Who dares to hide something this important from us?” I muttered in anger.

“Alpha Kilhan, this is much bigger than we thought. We are dealing with a great enemy here. For him to have gotten this report concealed, then he is a man of power and influence, greater than we imagined.”

“I don’t care if he’s a god! I’ll find him and I’ll kill him.” I uttered with gritted teeth.

“The first record, have you found out who owned the account?” I further asked, raising my head to look at him.

“Yes, the account had the name Tima Maria. The money was withdrawn immediately the account was credited, and I also found out it was the first and last money to get into this account. It was closed immediately after the withdrawal.”

“And did you find this Tima Maria?” I further inquired and he shook his head.

“No one bears that name in the whole of Texas. I strongly believe it’s a made up name.” He answered.

I breathed out deeply and swallowed hard, thinking of what to do next. Everything was becoming more complicated than I thought, but it only proves that I was right. His death was staged.

“Find out who came up with that name. I need to know why my father hid that proof of payment. And for the autopsy report, make sure you find the bastard who tried to conceal it.” I ordered and he nodded, bowing his head.

“I’ll leave now.” He said as he made his way out of the office.

Deep in thoughts, I walked to my window and stared out blankly, trying to solve this puzzle I had in my head.

I made a promise to myself, no matter how hard it may seem, I’ll avenge my father’s death.

“Alpha Kilhan, the pack is gathered in the living room.” Drex said from the door and I nodded.

“I’ll join you shortly.” I answered, snapping out of my thoughts.

I waved off the worrisome look I had on and put on a fierce demeanor as I headed to the living room to commence the meeting.

“Alpha Kilhan.” They chorused, standing on their feet.

“Please sit.” I ordered and they all sat.

“I am sorry for the impromptu meeting, but I think it’s best we discussed a few things. Firstly, I’d love to know how far those posters have traveled.” I uttered, sitting on the sole, large chair in front of them.

“Alpha Kilhan.” One of my Gammas, Nelson raised his hand. I nodded and he stood up to talk.

“I believe they are all over the states in New York as we speak.”

“Even the unpopular states?” Drex asked, and he nodded.

“Yes. It’s everywhere.” He answered boldly.

“Great. Then who would be in charge of receiving the phone calls? Drex will be very busy these coming weeks, I need someone to volunteer.” I uttered, waiting for one of them to respond.

“I’m here.” Betty, my second Beta raised her hand with a grin on her face.

Betty has always been loyal and diligent to me. I do trust her but things got complicated when I found out she had feelings for me. I could be a womanizer but I’d never do it close to the pack. It was my home and I gave her that respect.

I had to slowly distance myself from her, giving her time to get rid of whatever feelings she had for me. It's been over a year now. I believe she’s over it.

“Great. Drex give the phone to her. I have another assignment for you.” I ordered and he passed the phone to her.

“The second topic of discussion is about the expansion of the K-properties. Just like we successfully shared those posters all over New York, I want the same for our properties. Now, I want each of you to pick one state in New York each.

“Any state you pick, you’ll be sent over there to supervise the place. See how things are done and then come back and tell us if we’d succeeded in such a state.” I explained, and they all nodded, paying rapt attention.

“Drex, list out all neighboring states to New York City and give each person a state according to their capacity, I included. We are in this together.” I added and they all nodded, clapping their hands.

Suddenly, the phone in Betty’s hand rang, commanding silence to everyone in the room.

My eyes widened and my heart began to beat very fast as I stared at the phone.

“Answer it.”
