2. Forced by our fathers

I saw dozens of werewolves standing at the place, which I believe to be the pack border. The driver who was cursing me earlier opened the car’s door for me.

Hah! He at least pretended that I was a beloved and pampered daughter of Vane’s family after their favorite daughter refused to marry the mutt.

At the same time, I didn’t want to look powerless and weak with no family support in front of my enemies.

Once I was out of the car, I saw dozens of hunters behind me as well. Those who wanted me dead were acting to protect me.

Funny, wasn’t it?

I saw a female from those mutts’ end walking toward me. 

“Hi, I’m Clover Ravenwood, Luna of Starlight Mystic Pack, mated to Riley Ravenwood, the Alpha King.” She said with a warm smile, extending her hand.

Though she had a smile on her face, I could let my guard down. I had seen many wolves wearing sheep’s coats.

“Gianna Vane, eldest daughter of Vane’s family, your soon-to-be daughter-in-law," I said, grabbing her hand.

“Welcome to our pack, dear.” I wished I too had the power to smell whether she was lying or was telling the truth.

“Thank you, Luna Ravenwood." 

“Come inside,” she said, and in the next second, her demeanor changed when her eyes moved to the people behind me. “You all can leave. Gianna Vane is now our responsibility.” She ordered. 

That was what Mr. Vane and Alpha King had decided: their daughter-in-law-to-be would arrive at the pack alone for the Luna training a month in advance of the wedding date.

As I stepped inside the pack, I could sense everyone's hostility toward me. I didn’t need a supernatural power to smell that feeling. If only I could learn the reason why they proposed this marriage in the first place.

“How was your journey?”

“Tiring. Because of the lack of a proper road.” I responded honestly because there was no use in lying.

“I hope you can understand that it’s important to preserve the forest in that way without cutting trees." 

"Of course. I do. I wasn’t complaining; I was just stating the truth since you asked me a question."

She again gave a mild smile before speaking. “I’ve prepared a room for you. I’ll send your breakfast to the room. Please have some rest before meeting the Alpha King and my son at the dinner table." I nodded at her words.

Surprisingly, opposite to my thoughts, they gave me a decent and well-maintained room and three servants to take care of my needs. I should call them omegas, since they were the lowest in the rank of the werewolves.

I dismissed their help during the bath, and when I returned, my luggage was already in my room.

I gasped when I saw the clothes that were prepared by the maid of my family. I took them out one by one and was in shock to see revealing clothes, to the extent that either my breasts or butt would pop out of the dresses.

I knew they didn’t want these mutts to kick me out of the pack on the very first day because of my gloomy face, but wasn’t this too much?

They should have known that I have zero capability to seduce anyone.

I called the maid who was waiting outside for my orders.

“Do any of you know how to stitch?” I asked. Thankfully, all of them nodded. “Please fix these dresses by covering the cleavage and by increasing the length of the dresses."

‘Wow!’ I hid my surprise when I entered the dining hall, where everyone was already settled. Even though they were mutts, the place where they lived was like a palace.

“Welcome, Lady Vane. I hope you rest well. You must be famished. "Dinner will be served soon,” Clover spoke among them, standing on her feet. “Please take a seat.”

“Good evening, Alpha King Riley Ravenwood." I greeted the Alpha before turning my head to others and grabbing the seat that was offered to me.

I felt someone digging a hole in my head, and I didn’t have to waste my time to know who he could be, at least not when he looked like a young version of Alpha King.

"Why are you even marrying me when you can’t even hide your anger for me?" I wanted to snap, but I had to behave just like him.

“That’s my youngest, Sienna; my elder daughter, Kate, and her mate, Edwin; and my eldest and your mate to be, Zephyr.” She paused before continuing at the woman sitting beside her eldest. “And that’s Zephyr’s friend, Althea Flammia, who is also our Beta’s daughter.

“She is just like family. That’s why she is here.” She further explained.

“Hello everyone, I’m Gianna Vane," I greeted everyone, only to receive Kate’s response in return.

“Since you are aware that you have to start having Luna training from tomorrow. Is there anything that you know that Luna has to do as her duties?” Alpha King Riley initiated the conversation.

“No. I’m happy to learn those duties and try my best to excel in them."

“I was expecting that you would say that your father has trained you in the perfect way possible,” he spoke, more like taunting. Just like others, even he hated my presence. Then why did you suggest the alliance?

“In that case, please keep your expectations low because you’ll be surprised after learning that my father taught me nothing,” I responded with a smile.

“Ahem,” he coughed when Luna Clover nudged him.

“It’s good that you know nothing. In that case, we can start from scratch. Zephyr can…”

“I’m busy,” Zephyr cut her off.

“I’ll approve a suitable tutor for you, and once you complete the basics, you can join me in my office from next week to understand the thing practically."

“Thank you. Before that, I want to look around the pack. I’m sure Zephyr isn’t that busy to do so."

"..."

Observing how my future husband looked distracted, it looked like he was talking to his father. 

“Sure, he will."

From afar, his situation was no different from mine; both were forced by our fathers to marry each other.
