Taking light steps not to make any noise, walking over the supply closet, I brought my equipment for cleaning, heading to the King’s room.
With one hand holding on to the cleaning supply, the other was raised up to the door, and I knocked softly, waiting to see if anyone was in. When I heard no sound, I twisted the knob, going inside the room. Be invisible. I chanted to myself before walking fully into the room and was welcomed with total darkness. Not having a clue where I was going, I used my hands to make a part for myself. Falling two to three times on the ground till I got to the window, pushing the curtains aside. The once dark room was graced with light, allowing me to get a better look at the place. The first thing I noticed was how big it was if that was the correct word to use. This was by far the biggest room I have ever seen. It was massive. To think I needed to clean every inch without missing a spot. The wall of the room was painted red, and there were two doors by the other side of the room. One, I’m guessing, was the bathroom and the other, probably the King’s closet. I walked over to the shelves, spotting different types of books from different genres. He must love reading. Looking over to the side of the shelves and saw a different set of swords lined up against the wall, but one caught my eyes. Just by seeing it, I could tell it held more power and strength, emitting a glow anytime the sunlights on it. I sighed, ending my exploration as I half-heartedly picked up the broom and began working. There wasn’t much to tidy since the place was already clean without a spark of dirt, so I decided to give the place a good base cleaning. Dusting all the furniture, cleaning the window’s and glasses. Mopping the floor and doing the laundry. I was folding the clothes after drying them when a wave of drizzling spell hit me, making me hold on to the closest thing beside me, which was the couch. Glancing towards the wall clock, I saw it had only two hours before lunchtime and an hour before the king got back from his usual morning meetings. Thanks to the information Josiane gave me this morning. Putting my head down to my knees, I tried focusing on my breathing, waiting for the dizziness I felt to pass. A second later, I started feeling like myself again, I waited another minute before getting back to work. Folding the clothes and putting them in the closet. I closed the closet door behind me, then walked over to the window, contemplating whether to leave it open or close it back the way I saw it. Suddenly, I felt a shiver behind me, I turned back but saw no one. Choosing to leave the curtain open, I picked up my cleaning equipment, making my way to the door when I felt another shiver. This time, I was certain that someone was staring at me. I turned back yet again, not seeing anybody behind me. What was I thinking.! Of course, there was no one in the room but me. Ugh…. I should stop being paranoid. Pushing the door open, I walked out of the room, I turned to close the door behind me and could have sworn I saw red eyes staring at me. In the blink of an eye, it was gone. I was beginning to think I was seeing and hearing things. Clearly, my dizziness was affecting me in a not so positive way. Quickly closing the door and putting the cleaning supply back in the closet. I walked downstairs to the first class, going to the maid’s quarter and to my room. It was only 12:00pm, which meant one hour more until lunch. Laying down on the bed, I thought back to what happened moments ago. Was I being paranoid, or was I really being watched, I couldn’t tell. Choosing not to dwell in it anymore, I closed my eyes to rest for an hour before 1pm. When I woke up, the clock was setting at 1:15pm. Racing out of the bed, tidying up my hair. I ran out of my room to the hall, where the maids gathered. Taking a plate of bread and tea, I walked over to where Josiane sat, taking a seat beside her. “ Hey, thanks to the heavens you made it.” Josiane whispers, giving me a smile. “ Yeah, I finished early and decided to take an hour’s rest, ending up oversleeping.” “ I understand, it’s not easy working seven hours straight, I thought I was going to faint if I carried on working.” She sips her tea, nudging my shoulder. “Did you see the king when you left his chamber.” “ No, I didn’t. I thought you said the king always comes back from his morning meeting by noon.” Josiane gave me an apologetic look. “ Yeah, he usually does, but from what I heard from a friend of mine, something must have happened because the king became furious, stomping out of the meeting hall. He often goes back to his room. That was why I asked if you did see him when you were tidying up the room.” I shake my head, having a bite of my food. “ I didn’t.” “ Oh well, I guess he didn’t go back there.” She shrugs her shoulders as she carries on eating. I thought back to the feeling of someone watching me earlier but shook it off. There was no way the king would have gotten in without coming through the door. Right. An hour after we were done with our lunch, I walked into the kitchen to assist the maid working there. I was not allowed to serve the king his meal except for a beast like his kind. The human maids were only allowed to clean and tidy up the Palace while the beast maid did the cooking and serving. I spent the rest of the day helping out in the kitchen. You might be wondering why not just rest. I couldn’t, not with my thoughts going wild. We had our dinner at 8:pm before being dismissed to our room. Slipping out of my uniform, leaving only my undergarment. I quietly washed my face, then plopped down on the bed, drifting off to sleep, ending the day’s stress."Do you think he is going to be okay?" Josiana shakenly asked, raising her head to glance at me."I know he is going to be fine. You don't have to worry about him. Orpheus and Kyros are out there searching for him and would no doubt help in his transition.”"Here, take it. This will help with your nerves." Godiva said, handing her a cup of brewed green tea. Josiana sighs, sitting up as she takes the cup from her and takes a sip.We all sat in silence, our minds all occupied by what was possibly going on out there. I wasn’t sure how many minutes or hours had passed as we remained seated in our spot and only got to our feet when we heard the sound of footsteps making their way in our direction. The three of us instantly got to our feet when we saw Kyros and Orpheus approaching, the latter holding onto an unconscious Daniel, who had a blanket wrapped around him, covering his naked body.I let out a sigh of relief. "Orpheus, Kyros, thank goodness you're finally back. How is he? What happe
I laughed, throwing my head back, as Aurora told me yet another funny incident about Stefano and her."I still can't believe you blew up the kitchen," I said in between laughter."Well, Stefano should have known better than to dare me. I might not know a thing or two about cooking, but when I’m determined, I can always make something edible.""I don't think that's how it works." I said, laughing."Well, the first time is always a mess. I'm sure I will get it right next time," she says with a shrug."I’m sure you will." My voice dripped with sarcasm as I teased her, causing her to nudge her shoulder with mine."Okay, I admit it; cooking isn't for me." She smiled. "But there is no way I would ever admit that to Stefano." She said with an evil grin, making me laugh at how much she enjoys teasing her mate.“Remind me never to make a challenge with you.” I say in between laughter, and Aurora joins in.We both carried on talking and laughing amongst each other, with the feast in full swing
Daniel had been a nervous wreck as he hoped for the date to be a success. It didn't help that as the night drew near, anxiety increased. It was almost as if he could hear his own heartbeat and that of other people, which made absolutely no sense to him.All he wanted was for his date with Josiana to go smoothly. He picked up the flower when he heard the sound of footsteps approaching in his direction. When he saw her up close, everything he was holding inside crumbled. The emotion that was stirring in his heart was already touching the top.And the moment their eyes met, he wanted nothing more than to hold her. It made holding back so hard with every expression she gave and the way she teasingly bit her lips in a nervous act."I know how much you love red roses, so I picked some for you," he said, handing the flowers over to her, and her eyes lit up with a smile adorning her face."Thank you, they are beautiful," Josiana says, taking a whiff. "And they smell nice.""I’m glad you like
I was pleased to see a few isolated empty seats in the first few rows as I moved to the side that had a placard that proclaimed "home team!""Why don't we watch the match?" I asked Orpheus, more like squealing out the question, and he laughed."Are you sure though? There are many other fun activities.”"We can get to that later," I said, pulling him to the front row, but we didn't have the chance to take a seat when a group of men from the home team ran towards us."King and Queen Selinofoto, greetings." They all greeted at the same time with a bow."Greetings," Orpheus responded while I gave a smile. One of the men, who I think was the leader of the group, spoke, his eyes fixated on Orpheus. "I hope it's not much trouble if you join our team. With you on our team, we would have a high chance of winning."Orpheus looked a bit adamant about leaving my side, and I'm guessing it was because he didn't want me to feel lonely. I gave him a smile and a nod, giving him the go-ahead. I was als
I had just stepped out of the bathroom after freshening up and was about to get ready when I heard the sound of a knock."Come in!" I yelled, with only a few minutes left until the carnival began, and my nerves were starting to get the best of me."Godiva told me you haven't gotten ready yet since you helped out in the kitchen and asked me to assist you as they are still busy in the kitchen."Joanne walked in with a woman beside her who was holding onto a makeup kit and a dress cover in a black bag.I rose from my seat and gave her kisses on both cheeks. "I’m so glad you are here. Honestly, I have no idea what to wear." Then I looked over at the dress bag. "I was thinking of taking out any of my old clothes since I didn't have a chance to get a new one made.""That is why I am here," she states with a smile. "I know this is your first time going to a carnival, but don't worry, we have got it all covered.""Thanks a lot, Joanne," I said, hugging her before taking my seat in front of th
"Why don't we race back to the palace?" Joanna said. "We still have a lot to do." I gave a curt nod, and we both sprinted back into the forest and back to the training ground.I picked up my jacket as we both made our way back inside the palace, heading towards Joanna's room for the second half of the training."You won't be able to access all your powers because there are some procedures that you are required to go through as a Salem witch.""What are they?”"You don't have to worry about them now. Let's take it one at a time and start with controlling your powers so that you can take off the bracelet and won't have to worry about hurting anyone." I glanced down at my wrist with the bracelet wrapped around it before returning my attention to Joanna."We start with a simple spell, and I have just the book for you," she says, walking over to her bag.She searched through it before returning to where I stood with an old-looking book with a brown cover, handing it over to me. I took it f
