AMY'S POV

If I said I wasn't curious about what my husband was hiding, well, I wasn't really sure it counted as hiding if he already told me he was hiding something. Anyway, I was burning to find out, so subtly, I would ask him if anything had happened at work.

He would only give me a side eye and then proceed to tell me every mundane thing that happened at work when he knew fully well the information I was after.

"Why don't you just ask me if I've resolved the issue?" He asked three days after we kept up the charade of dancing around the real issue.

"Fine," I surrendered. "Have you resolved the issue?"

"Not yet." On one of those times when I was questioning him, he asked if I was that desperate to feel hurt, so I asked him how hurt I would be. "Like I said, it depends on how you look at it. The only reason it's going to affect you is because you're in my life presently, but trust me, I didn't set out to intentionally hurt you. It wasn't about you when it happened, but it's go

LIAM'S POV Life has been as smooth as it could be for a man that ran a large corporation and a pack that encompassed the whole of Crystalline. "There's been some unusual movement lately." Reid said to me this morning, and I wasn't surprised. I had a lot of enemies and people who wanted to be me. "It has always been like that." I told him. "What I'm curious about is where this problem is coming from. Our warehouses? The Alphas?" "No, there's no problem from either. It's a new distributor that just came on board." "Who approved him as a distributor in the first place?" "St. Palmes." "Why is he a problem now?" According to him, he got an intel that powers were changing hands in another pack, but they were trying to keep it under wraps because their pack was important in silver and arms production. The Alpha who was presently in charge of the pack, Alpha Wales, was a man that dealt with us fairly. He gave us fair rates, and his word was his word. However, the man that was likel

  • Alpha Liam's Chosen Mate   CHAPTER EIGHTY-THREE

AMY'S POV The last week went by in a blur. I was caught between the desire to do as my husband suggested, which was to get to know my real family, and the urge to not have anything to do with them. That urge didn't just come out of the blue. It came from the feeling of not being adequate. I wasn't sure I wanted to know if they still wanted me or not. Or if they ever did. According to Susan, she kidnapped me from my biological parents, Clare, her good friend, and Raymond, the then heir to the Brenson's empire. My mother decided to steal me away because she was blinded by jealousy and rage after Raymond fell in love with my mother, Clare. Her story was that Clare purposely went after Raymond because she did. I didn't believe one word of her story. If anything, it was the other way round. How could she sleep at night knowing she had separated a mother from her child? Especially when the friend was a good friend of hers? In my head, I had made up countless scenarios as to why t

  • Alpha Liam's Chosen Mate   CHAPTER EIGHTY-TWO

THIRD PERSON'S POV Susan Landon never claimed to be a good woman. It was almost two decades ago when she met the man she thought she would spend the rest of her life with. It was not love, though, it was ambition. Susan thought life dealt her an unfair hand. Born to Gamma parents meant they weren't really better off in the society. She attended public schools and envied girls whose parents were Alphas and Betas and could afford to send their children to private schools with blazers and cute skirts for uniforms. It was since then that she vowed that she would give herself a better life. She was not going to settle for a man who couldn't provide for her just because the moon goddess thought he was her soulmate. "I'm going to make my own destiny." She would often say. There was one thing she had going for her. It was her beauty. Her beauty was a rare one, and it made boys and girls flock to her side. However, her popularity didn't extend past the walls of her high school and past t

  • Alpha Liam's Chosen Mate   CHAPTER EIGHTY-ONE

AMY'S POV I run out of her room amid her faint shouts for me to come back, but I couldn't stop running because my legs wouldn't stop taking me far away from where my life just disappeared right before my eyes. Where I had just found out that my whole life had been a lie. When I entered the elevator, I couldn't look at my own face in the reflective surface. I was afraid that the tears would fall before I could get to a place where I could compose myself. Luckily, I made it out of the elevator, but it was a different situation down on the ground floor. An overhead speaker was dispatching doctors to my mother's room. It was a code red. I got out of the way to make way for the doctors, but in my mind, I knew they would be unable to save her. I bet it was with her last breath that she asked for forgiveness and shattered my childhood, as fucked up as it was, as I knew it. She was gone, I could tell, and I wished that I could say it didn't affect me in the least. I couldn't exactly put

  • Alpha Liam's Chosen Mate   CHAPTER EIGHTY

AMY'S POV A year later, life was still going great with my husband and child. Mavin had seamlessly blended into our lives, and I couldn't be happier. My work at the council was fulfilling. While it wasn't where I thought I would be, it was still on the line. The whole motivation behind me becoming a doctor was so I could help women and young children. The decisions I influenced at the council did just that. Grace, too, had returned to the mansion just six months ago after the exile her dear brother imposed on her, and things were as peaceful as they could get. She was passive-aggressive to me but she tolerated Mavin at her best. We both ignored her. Generally, life was good. Until one day, I just dropped Mavin at school and was contemplating what I would do with my day since there was no council and my best friend was not in town, when my phone rang. It was an unknown contact, so I was immediately wary of it. "Hello." "Is this Amy Landon?" The use of my maiden name was an

  • Alpha Liam's Chosen Mate   CHAPTER SEVENTY-NINE

LIAM'S POV It wasn't long before Amy, Mavin and I fell into a routine. A week after he started to live with us, I took him to the court, and I had every name on his document changed legally. I also included myself as his biological father. Unsurprisingly, there weren't many documents to change, which only made it easier. Reid, however, was tasked with erasing any of the digital footprint, however little he had while he was with his mother. As of now, there is no record of his life before Mavin Arlington. I wanted to make sure there was no issue about his familial ties in the future. After we sorted it all out in court, we went to the council, where he also got recognized and put in the family tree as my son. I pulled a lot of strings to make sure that this information was hidden in plain sight. Indirectly, I had sealed his fate to become the next Alpha after me, but I didn't want to put him in harm's way, hence the name blocking. So he became Mavin Arlington both in the human w
