Liam:

The echo of the door shutting behind Alaria lingered like a blade in my chest. I could still smell her, sharp, wild, carrying the kind of strength that made my blood burn, and she walked away from me without hesitation. Again.

But I wasn’t alone.

Of all the times that I wanted to be alone, I was not. She was here, the one person that I did not want to speak to or see. And of course, she was the person that I did not even want witnessing this.

Claire stood in the middle of the dining room, her eyes narrowed, her chin tilted high as if she’d just won something. As if Alaria’s departure was proof that she still mattered, still had power here.

“You let her speak to me like that,” Claire hissed, voice trembling with fury. “You just stood there and said nothing. Do you realize how humiliating that was for me? I am your Luna. I belong here by your side. She is nothing but an intruder, and had it been me who spoke this way to you, you would have put a stop to it. Do you realize how disr

Liam:Her body was warm against mine, soft curves pressed to my chest, the faintest trace of her scent still lingering on my skin from the night before.I had to admit, I was quiet as I just watched her in silence, knowing that waking her up would be one step closer to her getting out of bed.I gently ran my finger over her hip, smiling when she let out a small sigh of contentment in her sleep.I shifted slightly, and she stirred, her lashes fluttering open.“Morning,” I murmured, brushing my lips over her temple.“Mhm,” she whispered, her voice husky, her eyes still heavy with sleep. She stretched, the hem of my shirt riding higher on her thighs, exposing bare skin that made my pulse thunder. “What day are we?”“Saturday.”“It is too early for me to be awake. Why did you wake me up?” She asked, making her chuckle.“You can always go back to sleep.” I said, and she sighed as she looked up, more like playfully glared at me.“You woke me up already. I am not going back to sleep.” She sa

Alaria:I didn’t know how I ended up here. One moment I was telling myself I needed to leave, the next I was standing in Liam’s room, his presence behind me like a weight I couldn’t shake.“I should go to my room, I doubt that this should be a good idea, Liam.” I murmured, refusing to meet his eyes.“No, we already agreed on this, Alaria.”“We agreed to another. Thank you are the one who wanted this.“At least let me get clothes. I can’t stay here like this.” I said, trying to find the way to live. I did not want to be here. At least I didn't want to admit that I wanted to be here.“You don’t need clothes,” he said simply, moving past me toward the dresser. He opened a drawer, pulled out a dark shirt, one of his, soft, oversized, smelling like him, and held it out to me. “You’ll wear this. It's very comfortable and you're not going to be bothered by it.”I blinked. “Liam, I…”“You're not going to argue, Alaria.” His gaze was steady, his voice firm but not cruel. “For tonight, you’re m

Liam:“I used to be able to look you in the eye. I used to be able to understand what you were trying to say without you saying it, but I cannot do that anymore, Liam. I cannot find myself being able to look you in the eye and understanding anything that you're saying. Because I don't know whether or not you're telling me the truth. I don't know how deep your manipulation started running.” She said, looking away from me. “I can't do this anymore. I am trying to hold strong, but it is only for the sake of our daughter. But don't ask more of me because I cannot offer it.”Her words cut sharper than any blade. She spoke of betrayal, of years of standing second, of the divorce I shoved in her hands, and though I knew every syllable was true, hearing them now was unbearable.I held her wrists tighter, not to hurt, but to keep her anchored to me, to force her to see that this time I wasn’t turning away.“You want to talk about trust?” I said, my voice low, rougher than I intended. “Then loo

Alaria:The drive home felt longer than usual, though I knew it wasn’t.My chest ached with the weight of everything, Claire’s return, Liam’s silence, the way my heart twisted despite all my attempts to steel it.I parked the car and didn't say a word for a few seconds. Anastasia looked at me through the rear mirror, her eyes studying my expression, and I knew that she was well aware that it was not okay. However, I also knew that regardless of how many times she would ask me, I would not tell her that I was not alright.“When we go inside, Nasia, I want you to take a shower and then we can proceed with lunch. You had a very long day and you are very sweaty.” I said, looking at my daughter, wanting to change the subject.“But I'm not very hungry, Mama. I already ate my cookies at school.”“Cookies are not a main meal, little wolf. You're going to need to eat if you want to grow.” I said, forcing myself to remember that if I was standing, that if I stood before, it was for her. She was

Claire:I didn’t wait for him to say more. My pride wouldn’t let me. Because I knew that if I gave him that satisfaction, I was just going to boast him up. And I did not intend to do so, not anymore. He had already walked out to chase her, to go and claim her as if she was some kind of prize or trophy. He did not understand the mistake that he was making. However, I did not care. Not anymore.I spun on my heel, suitcase dragging behind me, and stormed out.The sting of his words burned hotter than fire. Mistake. Leave. Don’t belong. He hadn’t just cut me out, he’d gutted me. And this time, this heartbreak was not going to go unanswered for because I knew that if I just let it be, he was going to use it to his advantage, much like he has used a lot before. But I wasn’t going to fall apart. Not in front of him. Not here. Not for anyone to see or gossip about. In the foyer, Amelia appeared, wide-eyed. She must have heard every word. Her mouth opened as if to console me, but I cut her sho
