I stared at the woman whose body quivered beneath me, feeling a certain warmth in my chest. One I didn't want to feel. “This will hurt” I whispered, my lips grazing the shell of her ear. Fuck! She smelled so good. I sinked my teeth into her neck, while increasing the speed of my thrusts. I turned her over, plunging deeper till she reached climax the second time. I could feel mine building up. I let out a deep groan of pleasure as I released my seeds deep inside her. Her body went limp and she struggled to keep her eyes open. I slung her over my shoulders and carried her to the bathroom as she muttered a string of jargons in my ear. Did she just sleep talk? My lips curled up slightly. What did I just do? The smile on my lips vanished. I had given Rina my word that I would have nothing to do with this woman. I only needed her to lift my curse. That was the only reason I agreed to this marriage. Seventeen years ago, on my eighth birthday, I had suddenly felt hot. What started as a mild discomfort escalated into a sharp burning sensation. It felt as if I was being burnt alive. Right before my eyes, the mark on my arm began to form, tearing into my skin, oozing smoke as it took shape. I had lost consciousness and when I woke up, the pack's seer confirmed it was a curse. I had been cursed. The reason? No one knew. Every year on a certain day, I would feel that same gut-wrenching pain and that day drew near. My birthday. The only people who knew that I was cursed were my parents, the seer and Micheal. My beta and best friend. Recently, upon my return to the pack, my father consulted the pack's seer who had told him that Mia, the daughter of Night shade pack's Alpha was the key to lifting my curse and making her my Luna and mating with her was the first step. I could not lose sight of my goal. I placed her on the bed and changed into my sweatshirt and pants, picked up my car key and walked out. I drove to Rina's house. Rina was my girlfriend. She was sweet, gentle, and kind. I was immediately drawn to her the moment I saw her. She had never once gotten mad, even when I informed her of my marriage to Mia. We had been together since we were in college and had promised to be chosen mates. However, Mia's appearance had complicated things. Of course, I knew my mate would appear eventually, I just didn't think I would be forced to marry her. I pulled up at Rina’s and rang the doorbell. She flew into my open arms, wrapping herself around me like a koala. She planted a wet kiss on my lips. “I didn't think you were still going to make it” she said. I sat on a sofa as she straddled me, refusing to let go. “I would not miss seeing you for anything” she giggled shyly but it slowly faded. “What?” “Does your wife know you are here?” “No and it's none of her concern. The marriage is just a formality. We're just like strangers” Her smile returned at my reassurance. I didn't tell her Mia was my mate as it was only going to make her more insecure. She kissed me and tried to take off my clothes but I stopped her and pulled her away softly. “Not tonight, Rina” I said affectionately. Her eyes clouded with tears and her voice shook. “You have never refused me. What changed?” She was right. I always looked forward to intimate moments with her. One passionate kiss from her usually had blood running where I wanted it to go. But tonight was…..different. I didn't feel a thing. “Is this because of your wife? Don't you love me anymore?” A small part of me was irritated with her unending whining. “I still love you” “Then why did you agree to marry her” “It's what the elders council wanted. You know I can't go against them, especially when I just became Alpha” Rina pouted, still not convinced. I sighed and cupped her face in my palm. “My marriage to Mia won't change anything between us. Just be patient. Everything will return to its original place soon” I wiped the tears that trickled down her cheek. “I'm tired. I need to sleep now” I stood up and headed to the room, pretending not to hear her sniffle behind me. Very early the next morning, a call from Michael woke me up. We had trained together since we were kids and he knew me better than anyone. Even my parents. His father retired early so he had taken over the beta position earlier than I had. I picked the call. “Hey man. I hate to call you on your honeymoon but this is important” His tone sounded serious and the constant whoosh of the wind signified he was out in the forest. “What is it?” I asked my expression grim. “The rogues…..they attacked again” Months ago, I received reports of rogues attacking pack members. As countermeasures, I had deployed several warriors to fight them but they kept coming. It was getting out of hand. “They have gotten more brazen. The injuries they inflicted are more fatal this time. I think you need to come” “Where are you?” I dashed out of the room. “Where are you going?” Rina asked, standing up “Something urgent came up” I said, without stopping. The rest of her words were blocked out as I slammed the door shut. I arrived at the forest, and approached Michael while other warriors searched the area. I could see signs of blood on the floor coupled with paw prints imprinted in the soil. “Six pack members were injured and their valuables stolen. They have been taken to the hospital?” “The rogues?” “We’re still looking for them” Michael said. “Any luck?” “No, but they are still around” I sighed in frustration. “How come your men can't handle a bunch of rogues? Is this the best they can do? They are becoming completely useless. From now on, Intensify their training. I'll train them personally. Also, Inform everyone, all pack member should keep their doors locked. They must not open to anyone. It's very dangerous outside” “Alright” “Keep looking and extend your search” I ordered. I was about to join in when I caught a scent I could not forget so easily. Mia.Lukas:I sat at the head of the table, silently watching the elders argue amongst themselves. “The pack can't be without a Luna. He needs one to solidify his position” One of them said, his tone firm. “Alpha Tristan's daughter could be a good choice. I heard his pack has been climbing the ranks lately”“It's only been a few weeks since his Luna died. We should give him some time” another said, while a few others murmured in agreement. Now they were being sympathetic? My hands balled into fists, the last thread of my sanity about to snap. Elder Zaccheaus spoke. “I'm sure you know what needs to be done, Alpha” The past few weeks have been hell without Mia. And now they want me to take another Luna? I was still married to Mia and that wasn't going to change. Kate claimed she hid her but I knew exactly where she was. However, I couldn't bring myself to face her.“I do,” I said, getting on my feet. I want you hypocrites to shut the fuck up. Your job is to advise me, not tell me what to d
Mia:I was staring blankly at the ceiling when my eyes caught a figure by the side. My brows knitted into a frown as I turned to see Mira standing at the other side of the room, a small smile on her face.I chuckled bitterly. “I must have really lost my powers, huh? I can't feel your presence anymore”“You lost your magic?” She asked, walking towards the bed “Yes! When I needed it the most. I could only stand there and watch my mother die. Look at my face. Rina did this to me. You think I would have let her if I had my magic?”“I'm so sorry about your parents. I felt it the moment Rosalind died”“I don't need your pity”“But you can still see me”“What does it matter? I can't do anything”“When you found out about your powers, you hated it and wanted it gone”“It's different now. It's all I've got”She cupped my face and examined it. “Horrible, right? I know”“It's an easy fix. Hold still”Her hands hovered before my face, casting a spell. A faint glow illuminated the bruises. Slowl
Kate:There were about five guards stationed at the cell. I tiptoed past them, hoping they wouldn't see me. But unfortunately, one did. A sharp eyed, tall blond. “Hey, stop!”I froze and bit my lip.I was hoping I wouldn't have to do this the hard way.He stood up and walked towards me, sizing me up. “No one is allowed in here. Get out”I wore a smile, blinking my eyes at him. “Why don't you pretend you didn't see me. Just this once”His expression hardened. “Leave, before I force you out”My smile vanished. The hard way it is then.I spun around and kicked him in the jaw. A few of his teeth fell out. He groaned in pain and staggered. I slammed my knee into his groin and he dropped to the ground, eyes wide.Another stood up and came at me. I dodged a punch and landed a kick on his head. Seeing this, the others rushed at me but they were all down in a minute. I grabbed the key hanging by the blond's belt and moved swiftly down to Mia's cell.My heart sank when I saw her sitting in
Lukas:I stormed down the stairs, my chest heaving with frustration.I reached the grand foyer and slowed to a stop. The whole damn council of elders were here and when they gather like this, it's never good news. They were engaged in a heated argument with Michael and Kate who refused to let them come in any further. Michael saw me first and furrowed his brows “I heard gunshots coming from your study? What was that about?”I waved it off. “It's nothing. What's happening here?”“There he is!” Elder Zaccheaus, Rina's grandfather, who seemed to be the leader, pointed at me.“What is this about? You can't just barge in here” I said, temper rising.“Alpha Lukas” He took a step towards me, the look in his eyes silently challenged me. “We are here to take Mia custody”“Excuse me? What the hell would I let you do that?”“We know everything. Her real identity and what she did to my grand daughter”Rina must have told him everything upon her return.“I can't help but ask, did you know about
Rina:I stepped into the pack house and it smelled exactly the same. A soft earthy smell mixed with a trace of Lukas' scent. Musk and cedarwood. I looked around, taking it all in. It's been so long since I stepped foot in these halls. “Luna Mia” a servant called in greeting, bowing respectfully. This place, that title should have been mine from the get go. But she came into the picture and ruined it. Now, I had to pretend to be her.The thought angered me to no end but I had no choice.I stopped at his study and knocked twice with no answer. I took a deep breath and pushed the door open. It was dark and empty. I entered and slowly brushed my fingers against the cold surface of his desk. I picked up his jacket which was draped on his chair and buried my face in it, inhaling his scent like my life depended on it. I heard footsteps approaching, followed by his voice.“What do you mean you can't find her? She disappeared hours ago and I'm just hearing about it?” he thundered, the foo
Mia:Nora was too weak to take on a wolf this size.“Mia!”I barely had time to turn as the wolf lunged at me. I froze, shock rooting me in place. I shut my eyes, bracing myself for the pain. I waited but it didn't come. Puzzled, I opened my eyes and my blood ran cold when I saw my mother in front of me, the rogue's claws buried deep in her stomach. With the last of her power, she struck back, sending the rogue back several steps till its head hit a sharp edge and it fell, lifeless. She collapsed.I caught her and dropped to my knees beside her as she fell. “No…no, please” I whispered, tears clouded my vision as I held her.Her breathing became shallow and her eyes dimmed. She reached up to brush my cheek with her fingers. “I'm sorry I could not be there when you needed me the most. I'm really sorry” she murmured weakly. “If you're truly sorry, then stay with me. Don't leave me too”“It's still dangerous out there. Run while you still can”“I can't leave you here”“You can and y
