I stared at the woman whose body quivered beneath me, feeling a certain warmth in my chest. One I didn't want to feel. “This will hurt” I whispered, my lips grazing the shell of her ear. Fuck! She smelled so good. I sinked my teeth into her neck, while increasing the speed of my thrusts. I turned her over, plunging deeper till she reached climax the second time. I could feel mine building up. I let out a deep groan of pleasure as I released my seeds deep inside her. Her body went limp and she struggled to keep her eyes open. I slung her over my shoulders and carried her to the bathroom as she muttered a string of jargons in my ear. Did she just sleep talk? My lips curled up slightly. What did I just do? The smile on my lips vanished. I had given Rina my word that I would have nothing to do with this woman. I only needed her to lift my curse. That was the only reason I agreed to this marriage. Seventeen years ago, on my eighth birthday, I had suddenly felt hot. What started as a mild discomfort escalated into a sharp burning sensation. It felt as if I was being burnt alive. Right before my eyes, the mark on my arm began to form, tearing into my skin, oozing smoke as it took shape. I had lost consciousness and when I woke up, the pack's seer confirmed it was a curse. I had been cursed. The reason? No one knew. Every year on a certain day, I would feel that same gut-wrenching pain and that day drew near. My birthday. The only people who knew that I was cursed were my parents, the seer and Micheal. My beta and best friend. Recently, upon my return to the pack, my father consulted the pack's seer who had told him that Mia, the daughter of Night shade pack's Alpha was the key to lifting my curse and making her my Luna and mating with her was the first step. I could not lose sight of my goal. I placed her on the bed and changed into my sweatshirt and pants, picked up my car key and walked out. I drove to Rina's house. Rina was my girlfriend. She was sweet, gentle, and kind. I was immediately drawn to her the moment I saw her. She had never once gotten mad, even when I informed her of my marriage to Mia. We had been together since we were in college and had promised to be chosen mates. However, Mia's appearance had complicated things. Of course, I knew my mate would appear eventually, I just didn't think I would be forced to marry her. I pulled up at Rina’s and rang the doorbell. She flew into my open arms, wrapping herself around me like a koala. She planted a wet kiss on my lips. “I didn't think you were still going to make it” she said. I sat on a sofa as she straddled me, refusing to let go. “I would not miss seeing you for anything” she giggled shyly but it slowly faded. “What?” “Does your wife know you are here?” “No and it's none of her concern. The marriage is just a formality. We're just like strangers” Her smile returned at my reassurance. I didn't tell her Mia was my mate as it was only going to make her more insecure. She kissed me and tried to take off my clothes but I stopped her and pulled her away softly. “Not tonight, Rina” I said affectionately. Her eyes clouded with tears and her voice shook. “You have never refused me. What changed?” She was right. I always looked forward to intimate moments with her. One passionate kiss from her usually had blood running where I wanted it to go. But tonight was…..different. I didn't feel a thing. “Is this because of your wife? Don't you love me anymore?” A small part of me was irritated with her unending whining. “I still love you” “Then why did you agree to marry her” “It's what the elders council wanted. You know I can't go against them, especially when I just became Alpha” Rina pouted, still not convinced. I sighed and cupped her face in my palm. “My marriage to Mia won't change anything between us. Just be patient. Everything will return to its original place soon” I wiped the tears that trickled down her cheek. “I'm tired. I need to sleep now” I stood up and headed to the room, pretending not to hear her sniffle behind me. Very early the next morning, a call from Michael woke me up. We had trained together since we were kids and he knew me better than anyone. Even my parents. His father retired early so he had taken over the beta position earlier than I had. I picked the call. “Hey man. I hate to call you on your honeymoon but this is important” His tone sounded serious and the constant whoosh of the wind signified he was out in the forest. “What is it?” I asked my expression grim. “The rogues…..they attacked again” Months ago, I received reports of rogues attacking pack members. As countermeasures, I had deployed several warriors to fight them but they kept coming. It was getting out of hand. “They have gotten more brazen. The injuries they inflicted are more fatal this time. I think you need to come” “Where are you?” I dashed out of the room. “Where are you going?” Rina asked, standing up “Something urgent came up” I said, without stopping. The rest of her words were blocked out as I slammed the door shut. I arrived at the forest, and approached Michael while other warriors searched the area. I could see signs of blood on the floor coupled with paw prints imprinted in the soil. “Six pack members were injured and their valuables stolen. They have been taken to the hospital?” “The rogues?” “We’re still looking for them” Michael said. “Any luck?” “No, but they are still around” I sighed in frustration. “How come your men can't handle a bunch of rogues? Is this the best they can do? They are becoming completely useless. From now on, Intensify their training. I'll train them personally. Also, Inform everyone, all pack member should keep their doors locked. They must not open to anyone. It's very dangerous outside” “Alright” “Keep looking and extend your search” I ordered. I was about to join in when I caught a scent I could not forget so easily. Mia.
Lukas:Elian was out of danger. Mia kept her eyes trained on Rina, her whole body oozing with murderous intent. “Don't do anything. I'll handle this” She didn't seem to hear me. What I had experienced at Raven claw pack was about to repeat itself. The strange, flickering mark took form on her neck and this time, the colour was deeper and more intense. Her eyes burned crimson. Her hair bleached silver once again. The ground shook faintly as fire swirled around her fingertips, growing thicker and hotter.“You….. you have magic” Rina stood up, her eyes wide and filled with fear. She glanced at me. “This is forbidden, don't you know that? Or did you hide it on purpose? The elders must find out about this”“I should have dealt with you sooner. This is for me!”With a roar, Mia sent a wave of spiralling fire shooting towards her. Rina screamed and ducked just in time. The fire hit a bush and it immediately went up in flames. “Mia, stop!” I yelled. She growled, barring her canines at
Mia:An ear-splitting scream rang through the pack house. I sat up with a start, alarmed and so did Lukas. We both ran out at the same time to the source of the scream.Rina's room. She was on the floor, her eyes were red with tears as she held her stomach in pain.My eyes trailed to the red pool on the floor.Blood.“Lukas…. our pup” she whispered weakly. Her face had turned ghastly pale. “You did this!” She pointed an accusing finger at me. My face scrunched up in confusion. Me? How?“Let's get you to the hospital”Lukas carried her up while I called Kate to inform her of the situation.Several hours passed and I received a text from Kate telling me she lost the pregnancy. I knew I should be somewhat relieved but I wasn't. Rina was evil and conniving but the her pup was innocent. But why did she think I was the reason behind her miscarriage? She spent two days at the hospital and was discharged.I had just finished gardening, the sun disappearing behind the horizon when I hear
Mia:Before I could charge at them, a loud voice echoed through the dark alley.“Leave the lady alone!”I turned to see Kate standing a few feet from me, her hands on her hips as she glared daggers at them.“Now there's two” the third one said, licking his lips. “Get lost while I'm being nice” “If we don't, what are you going to do? Beat us up?” They burst into laughter.Kate cracked her knuckles.“That is exactly what I'm going to do”She growled and lunged forward, throwing a flying kick that hit him square in the chest. He stumbled and fell.Another grabbed her wrist. She twisted out of his grip and jabbed her elbow backwards, hitting him in the ribs.He staggered back several steps, his eyes wide with pain. The third pulled out a small knife, flashing it forward. The moonlight reflecting off the steel. She chuckled, shaking her head.“You think that is going to scare me?” In one swift motion, she kicked it out of his hand and jabbed her boot at his knee. A sharp crack echoed th
Mia:The distant, rhythmic voices of the birds chirping woke me up. The golden rays of the sun crept into the room. It was almost noon.I stirred, my eyes adjusting to the light. I lifted myself off the bed, yawning and stretching, feeling better than I had in days.My hands felt the empty space beside me.It was cold. I was putting on one of Lukas' shirt which reached all the way to my knee, while on him, it looked perfectly fitted. But this wasn't what I wore last night.Lukas must have changed me into this.I stepped into the hallway and went to his study, hearing whispers.I recognized one of the voices as Lukas'. Whatever they were saying, it seemed important. I pushed the door open to see Michael and Lukas opposite each other, staring at me. They had stopped talking. My eyes darted between both of them.“You're up” Lukas said, hiding a piece of paper in his drawer. “Am I interrupting something?”“No. I was just about to take my leave” Michael stood up and left.“I did not wa
Lukas: It has been five days since Mia returned and everytime she closed her eyes to sleep, she would stir violently, crying. No matter what I do, she wouldn't wake up. “Alpha Lukas, the seer has arrived” a maid said, interrupting my thoughts. “Let him in” I stood up from my seat and stared out the window, my eyes fixed on the moon that was beginning to peek through the clouds. I didn't turn even when I knew he was behind me. “Here is what you asked for” he placed down a small bottle. I had called him to create a potion that could help with Mia's insomnia. He was about turning to leave when I spun around, stopping him. “Don't you have something to tell me?” “I don't understand what you mean” “You want to keep feigning ignorance?” “Why did you lie? You knew Mia was the witch you were looking for” “I did it for you. I figured since she's going to die anyway, she might as well fulfill the task she was brought here for” My gaze darkened. “The real reason she was brought
Mia: My ears rang loudly, and I felt dizzy, a searing pain in my head. Lukas held me while Kate took Elian from me. What's happening to me? After what seemed like forever, it finally stopped. He carried me back into the room. “Get some rest. Don't even think about getting up. I'll be back soon” I replied with a nod. I felt he was hiding something from me. I was dying to know what it was. My eyes became heavy and I fell asleep. I opened my eyes to find myself in a wide, open field. The air was thick with fog and the ground was wet. I turned, confused. I was just with Lukas. How did I end up here? Was this a dream? Why did it feel so real? I heard the cry of a baby. Elian? No. That wasn't him. I listened closely. The sound was coming from not one but two babies. I traced the sound and came out of the fog. I looked forward and saw two people, a man and a woman. A baby in each of their arms. Their backs were turned to me and I could not see
