LOGINThe hall fell completely silent, with all eyes on the person walking through the aisle of the hall. His steps were measured, heavy with dominance.
His gaze was firm, and people instinctively lowered their heads in submission. Principal Rowan cleared her throat, her voice steady but noticeably softer than before. “The next Alpha of the most powerful northern pack, Alpha Kael of the Blackstorm will be joining us this year. A wave of whispers rippled through the hall. “Did she say Blackstorm” “It's Alpha Kael” “He is actually here” Beside me, Ivy’s elbow jabbed my side “he is so fucking hot” she gasped. “You mean terrifying” I corrected her. “That's not what I mean” “He looks dangerous,” I added. “Exactly, dangerous is what makes him hot, and that’s the perfect combination” she grinned. I gave her a look “You seriously have issues” “Come on, he is hot just admit” Ivy might have been right, he was hot but in a terrifying way. “I wonder who he will be matched with” I blinked “matched? What do you mean?” “You haven't been informed,” she asked and I shook my head “The matchmaking program is used to find the Alpha’s future Luna” “That sounds ridiculous,” I replied. “Sounds amazing to me” Ivy hummed. The principal then continued. “With the new scholarship program, I will explain our special school tradition, the match making system” That caught everyone’s attention. “Each male Alpha and each she wolf will undergo a blood test,” she explained, and the system will match them based on compatibility. Physical, mental, and emotional data. The pair that scores the highest and is trained together to become the future leaders of their pack. The system has proven for generations that matched pairs produce the strongest heir. ” Ivy leaned closer “So basically they are pairing people up like a dating profile but with blood” I nodded “Yeah, I think so” Principal Rowan kept on going. “If you’re not matched, you may improve your standing through academics, combat performance, or leadership challenges. Once matched, the she-wolf will move into her Alpha’s dorm to strengthen their bond before graduation. In addition to regular classes, matched pairs are required to attend mating courses together. She-wolves are only allowed to mate with their designated Alpha." A few students exchanged knowing looks. My brows shot up“Special course? Does she mean mating courses” “Sex, yes” Ivy replied. The principal’s voice rose again. “All new students must complete their blood testing before tomorrow evening, when the match results will be announced. The crowd began to buzz again, half excited, half anxious. I leaned back in my seat “This is insane” “Do you mean matchmaking or the blood test?” Ivy asked. “Everything” I replied “It sounds okay to me though” Ivy stated. “Don’t you think it's weird telling us to get tested just to mate with an Alpha” I pointed out. “Every girl wants this, imagine being mated to an Alpha, do you know how amazing it is” “Tell me about it,” I drawled. “I mean look at the good side of things, you get to be a Luna, and most of the alphas are hotties” I rolled my eyes “like that will change anything” “Believe me you will love it,” Ivy said and stretched “Come on let’s get our blood tested and get it over with, I'm starving.” The testing room was filled with a faint scent of antiseptic and the sound of small glass vials clinking together. I was told to fill a file, then the nurse pricked my finger, drew a few drops of blood, and labeled the sample with my name before waving me off. I stepped into the corridor, waiting for Ivy, but she had been pulled into another line. The hallway was quieter now, the air heavy with the scent of adrenaline and nerves. That was when I heard his voice. “Never thought you would shamelessly follow me here” I froze. That voice sounded all too familiar and I knew I could not be mistaken. Turning around, I found myself face to face with Theo. His golden hair was perfectly styled, his lips curled in that same arrogant smirk I used to think was charming. “Theo,” I said, my voice devoid of emotion. He scrutinized his gaze on me “still pretending you don’t care huh” “I don't” I stated flatly. “You should thank me, you know without me, you would still be stuck in that tiny town, miserable” I crossed my arms “Thanks but I prefer small towns to small men” His smile thinned “If you beg me I will consider taking you back” I scoffed “in your dreams” “You think you’ll get matched? With your bloodline? You’ll be lucky if they don’t send you back home by next week.” he retorted. I took a step closer “I don't care if I'm matched or not but one thing is for sure I dumped you and will never look at you again” His smugness cracked for just a moment before he sneered. “Keep telling yourself that.” He got closer towards me and grabbed my wrist “Do you think you will be able to survive without me” My skin crawled as he held my hand. Pain shot up my arm as his grip tightened “Let go, Theo.” “Make me.” He was cocky. “You are hurting me” I responded. “Beg me” his voice made me more pissed I tried to release myself from his grip but it was too strong, so instead I kicked him hard in between his legs. He groaned, stepping back as he released my hands. “I don’t want you and never will,” I concluded. As I turned to leave and I bumped into a wall, I staggered backward, holding my head as I looked up and noticed it was not a wall but a person. The air shifted as I stared at the person before me. Standing before me, Sharp jawline, his gaze sharp, and his face void of emotions. He looked eerily familiar “Kael….” I heard Theo stutter behind me, I could tell he was nervous. Kael smiled coldly “Hello, little brother”LYRA’S POV Today was the day of the academy’s annual competition, which would determine the ten people who would graduate. The arena was filled with students making loud noises, with cheers and laughter. I guess everyone was anticipating today’s competition. I was nervous but I tried to hide it, I was going to be fighting against alphas and with people’s eyes on me, which means I had to be careful not to reveal my silver wolf. “Hey” I felt a nudge on my shoulder from Ivy “What are you thinking about” “Erm….. nothing” She raised a brow “You look like you would run off if you were given the opportunity” I gave a defeated sigh “I guess I would” My response got me a smack from Ivy. “Ouch, what was that for” I rubbed my head which she had just hit. She just smiled “a wake up call” “We are about to begin” Professor Lennox’s voice echoed across the arena. “Come on let’s find a seat” Ivy pulled me as we found two empty seats at the end of a row. From where I was sitting, I cou
LYRA’S POV I stood in the middle of the woods, my mind racing and hoping I was making the right choice. The woods were too quiet and the only sound that could be heard was the soft rustling of leaves and the distant whisper of the wind brushing through the trees. It was isolated and there were no students in sight, it was perfect for what I needed to do. There was no turning back now, I had to go on with it. “I got your message, what's up” Lance's voice broke through my thoughts. I turned and saw him approaching me, he was only a few steps from me and I could read the expression in his gaze, it was filled with concern. I just hope he was not going to go against what I wanted to tell him. “I need your help” I told him. “Whatever you want I can help you with it, do you want me to kill someone” he asked. My eyes widened “No, why would I ask that?” He just shrugged. “I just assumed that since we are in the middle of the woods.” “No it's not that” I told him. “Then why are we
LYRA’S POV “Move, move please, excuse me…..” Ivy was saying as she dragged me through the crowd. The hallways were packed, as students crowded them, people’s voices were overlapping while some people were being pushed, and others tried to get past the crowd. Everyone was trying to get a glimpse of the lists that had been posted. It was the list of people who were eligible to participate in the competition and graduate when they won the competition. Everyone tried so hard to find their name on the list. I could see some people sobbing as they could not find their names on the list, while others were excited because they had found theirs. “Please excuse me” Ivy kept on saying as she pushed through the crowd still holding my hand. “I’m sorry” I kept apologizing to the people I kept bumping into as Ivy dragged me through the crowd. We finally squeezed our way to the front and saw the list. The list was longer than I expected, there were so many names, and it only means that out
LYRA’S POVThe academy had called everyone to a meeting, filling the auditorium with people. This was the first time it had been this occupied; each row was filled with students chatting excitedly, as if they most likely knew what was going to be said. But everyone still wondered why they had called the meeting.I sat between Ivy and Alaric, my hands resting on my lap, while my fingers unconsciously fidgeted, I don't know why I was nervous or maybe I was just feeling paranoid that someone was watching me.Kael, Zurien, and Lance sat behind us and it was not planned I was actually surprised they had come, because knowing them they never turn up for this kind of event. But ever since the message that was sent to me Ivy and Lance, everyone has been more protective, and linking it to Hannah’s confession, they all concluded that I needed protection at all times. And then there was Zurien, although he did not know why I was being targeted he still wanted to protect me too, after what Hannah
LYRA’S POVHis question hung in the air, I did not know what to say, what was I going to tell him?For a moment no one spoke, everyone had a shocked expression on their face.My fingers tightened around my phone. I did not want more people to know about it, but it seems I have failed.“Alaric, I….” Before I could speak or explain, Kael interrupted me.“How long have you been standing there?” Kael asked, his voice low, and has a dangerous tone to it.Alaric blinked, as he had just snapped out of whatever shock he was in.“I… ” he started, then ran a hand through his hair. “I just got here.”Kael did not look convinced.“How much did you hear?”Alaric hesitated, then he exhaled and replied “Enough”Immediately he said that I knew he was going to ask a lot of questions.“I mean….. I did not really hear too much” he quickly clarified. Then his gaze shifted to me, they were still filled with disbelief.“Lyra…” he said my name slowly, like what he was going to ask next was really sensitive.
LYRA’S POVThe rest of the lectures passed in a blur, and the moment the bell rang, I stood up immediately.“I need to go,” I muttered to Lily. She grabbed my arm. “Lyra…. wait…. what are you going to do?”“I need to talk to Kael,” I said quickly."Be careful" she told me and I nodded.“I will”After I had told Lyra about Hannah and what she said before killing herself, Lyra has been really protective, saying that I should never be alone. After assuring her, I left the lecture hall and without wasting another second I went in search of KaelSince we came back to the academy, Kael and Zurien have been putting effort into attending their classes, which made me wonder what made them change. It was easy to find Kael; I just needed to know which class he was in.I finally got to the class, and I saw Kael sitting lazily by the window. The class was empty, and it seemed as though he did not care less about it.Immediately he saw me a small smile appeared on his lips. But the moment he saw m
I was running late for class, I had spent the last twenty six minutes looking for my phone but it wasn't in my room and to no avail, I could not find it.I had literally checked every single corner of my room, under my bed, inside my closet, even the bathroom cabinet, because at this point anything
IVY’S POV The rhythm of the music coursed through me as I swayed my hips, dancing with the guy I just met, his touch was gentle as his hands wrapped around my waist enveloping me. I was on my third glass of wine feeling carefree as I took a sip from it grinding against the guy behind me. My eye
Zurien was still holding my hand as we walked away from the field making me wonder where he was taking me.Zurien still held my hand as we walked away from them; his grip was firm but loose, as if he hadn’t even noticed he was doing it. I, on the other hand, noticed it very much.Poor Kael… he look
LYRA’S POVAfter the training, Kael and I went back to our dorm, and as for Macie, I doubt she will ever come for training again seeing that she almost passed out halfway through her run.I mean she literally asked for it.Kael said he was going to make me dinner this evening, after I won the dodge
