Angel’s Perspective

Silence fell the moment the spotlight found me. It was a large audience consisting of members of my former pack and from Lilian’s side of the family. Everyone’s eyes snapped toward the stage. Confusion spread first, then shock. No one had expected me to come.

I stood calmly beneath the harsh white light, my back straight, my hands steady at my sides. Inside, my heart was pounding so violently it felt as though it might tear its way out of my chest, but strangely, my face maintained calm.

I had planned this moment for a while now, and now that it had arrived, I wasn't going to back away.

Bastien was the first to move.

He strode toward me in long, urgent steps, his expression a mixture of disbelief and irritation, as if my presence here was an inconvenience.

“Angel,” he said in a low voice, forcing a smile meant to assure everyone that everything was okay. “You shouldn’t be here.”

I let out a humorless laugh. “Really? I thought this was precisely the place to be.”

His brows furrowed. “I didn’t do this to embarrass you. Lilian doesn’t have much time left. She…she shouldn’t get married to…”

I cut him off, tilting my head slightly. “Of course. How could I forget? You’re saving the woman you love from an unwanted marriage.” My lips curved upward in a smile. “I came to witness it. To see with my own eyes how recklessly Alpha Bastien will throw caution to the wind for love.”

A murmur rippled through the guests.

Bastien’s expression darkened. “Stop this. You’re being unreasonable.”

Unreasonable. I almost laughed at the word.

“Leave now, go home.” he ordered. “We’ll talk later about this.”

I nodded slowly. “I will leave.”

Before he could relax, I continued evenly, “But only after I accomplish three things.”

His eyes flickered. “Angel…”

“First,” I said, my voice carrying loudly through the hall, “I am officially announcing my divorce from Alpha Bastien today.”

The room exploded into whispers. Gasps followed immediately.

There it was, the divorce was public information now. It felt like I had lifted a heavy weight off my shoulders. Saying it out loud relieved me of bonds and ties I didn’t know I was holding.

I met Bastien’s eyes, watching realization slam into him too late.

“This marriage is over,” I continued, each word measured. “You are free, completely free, to hold the grand wedding you once promised Lilian.”

Lilian swayed, hands flying to her chest as if she might collapse.

Bastien’s face flushed with fury. “Have you lost your mind? Is this because I came to this wedding? We will talk about this later, go home and stop the drama.”

Bastien still thought that I was being dramatic.

He didn’t realize that his actions stem from a long period before he even decided to attend this wedding. I couldn’t even begin to list the emotional trauma he had made me go through, even go as far as abandoning me in a mountain range for a night. I was badly injured.

“Second,” I said, ignoring him, “I will relinquish custody of my son, Finn, to Alpha Bastien.”

This time, the silence was suffocating.

“My child deserves a complete family,” I continued quietly. “A father. A… mother.” My gaze slid briefly to Lilian. “I will not stand in the way of that.”

Bastien stepped forward, rage flashing in his eyes. “You think you can decide this alone?”

Lilian let out a soft cry and pretended to faint. Instantly, Bastien reached for her, panic replacing anger.

“I’ll take Lilian away first,” he snapped, clearly trying to regain control.

“No need,” I said calmly.

He froze.

I turned my attention fully to Lilian, who was clinging weakly to Bastien’s arm, eyes red, trembling like a frightened doe.

“Now,” I said, my voice almost gentle, “let’s discuss the third matter.”

I raised the remote in my hand.

“To celebrate my official divorce today,” I announced, “I’ve prepared a gift. For everyone.”

I pressed the switch.

The massive screen behind the stage lit up and her recorded voice rang out, loud and unmistakably Lilian’s. I had earlier recorded it when Lilian came to lash at me at Dana’s house. She wasn’t aware that I had everything she had said to me in recording.

This was the ultimate helm of the plan.Exposing Lilian for who she really was.

“Angel, who do you think you are?”

The room froze.

“Do you really believe Bastien loves you? Don’t be so naïve, you’re nothing but a tool he married to replace me!”

A sharp intake of breath echoed somewhere in the crowd. The recording continued.

“So what if I ordered the pack of stray wolves to attack your sister?”

My nails dug into my palms.

“Whether she lives or dies, no one cares. As long as I don’t admit it, Bastien will always believe me!”

A collective gasp filled the hall as phones came out instantly. Some people started recording the scene unfolding.

“Who told you to marry Bastien? And you know what?Dana deserved to die!”

The recording ended and silence crashed down like a physical force.

Bastien stood frozen.

His pupils contracted violently, his face draining of all color. It was as though the world he believed in had been ripped away in a single breath.

Lilian’s mouth opened, but no sound came out. I turned slowly toward Bastien.

“I, Angel, formally the Luna of this pack” I said clearly, every word sharp with finality, “reject Alpha Bastien.”

I reached up and tore the necklace from around my neck, the one he’d given me to seal our bond, the symbol of a love that never truly existed.

“Your heart was never clean,” I continued. “I want nothing of yours.”

The chain hit the floor with a dull clang.

“We will never meet again.”

Inside my chest, my wolf howled, broken and furious as I severed the bond. Completely this time. The pain was blinding, vicious—but also freeing.

I turned away without another glance and walked down the aisle alone, my steps steady, my back straight.

Behind me, murmurs erupted but I did not look back.

Bastien’s POVLilian held the small silver robot like she had already won more than the auction item. She kept looking at Angel, waiting for Angel to show fear or regret. But Angel only sat beside Kian with her hands folded in her lap. Her face was calm, but I noticed she was not as relaxed as before.Kian looked at the robot, then at Lilian. “You won’t be able to open it,” he said. His voice was calm, but everyone near us heard the mockery in it.Lilian’s smile stiffened. “Alpha Kian, there’s no rush.” Kian leaned back slightly. “Then take your time.”Lilian acted as if his words did not affect her. Angel’s POVThe auction hall went quiet as the staff placed the sealed display case on the stage. The item inside was still covered with dark cloth. I sat straighter without meaning to. I had not planned to pay much attention to the next item, but the moment the auctioneer mentioned the name Mooncode, my fingers tightened around the program booklet.Mooncode. That name had not been used in public for a long time. Most people in the room only knew Mooncode as a strange and talented person from years ago, someone who had built unusual wolf-tech tools and left behind coded devices that people still studied. Some called Mooncode a genius. Some called Mooncode a strange girl who disappeared too early. No one here knew the tr

Bastien’s POVAfter the noise at the entrance settled, everyone started moving into the auction hall. The seats had already been arranged by name and pack. I sat in the front section with Finn on one side and Lilian on the other. From where people were looking, it probably seemed simple: a man, a woman, and a child sitting together like a family.Finn sat close to Lilian, still holding the small program booklet. He looked around with wide eyes, excited by the lights, the stage, and the items displayed behind glass. Lilian leaned toward him from time to time and spoke softly, acting patient and gentle.I looked across the room. Angel sat not far away with Kian. She was calm. She spoke to him once in a while, but most of the time, she looked at the stage and listened. She had seen where Finn was sitting. She had seen Lilian beside him. But her face did not change. In the past, if Finn showed too much care toward Lilian, Angel would become quiet. She would not argue in public, but I coul
