I pull away from Alden's grasp in fright.

His words had my mind spinning, and for a moment, I thought I would die right there. It was Alden who caught me, his arms coming up to steady me. Wild, vibrant colours crawl across his face, which is etched with concern. In that moment, I was certain I would faint in his arms, however, Rylan was at my side in a second, his hands touching my arms and back.

Like an instant relief, my muscles relaxed and my mind righted itself, the fog clearing, drawing the colours and vision manipulation away. I was left feeling sick to my stomach.

"She needs rest," Alden murmurs, taking a step back as I lean closer to Rylan, trying to make sense what he had said. I'm going to die?

"We need an explanation," Rylan says, speaking my words for me.
