Drake POV
The ride over to Kate’s Pack was tense. I could feel the anger rolling off Maddie as we drove. She had been ready when I got back to our suite; however, she hasn’t spoken to me since I went to get her aside from yes or no replies. I knew she was hurt with the answers she received but I couldn’t change my Alpha’s mind and I agreed with him. We needed more information. My Alpha had put a warrior on to watch her parents for the short-term. Not that we thought anything would happen, but we wanted to be cautious. They were Pack members and potentially threatened so we would treat them like any other Pack members.
“Maddie, we haven’t eaten yet today. I am stopping at a diner for something to eat,” I say to her. She sighs and nods her head. Well, this should be a fun meal,
Thank you for continuing to support Alpha Siblings. Kate can't catch a break today. Wonder what's got Maddie so upset? Check in tomorrow for tomorrow's chapter update. Ellie xo
Drake POV “Maddie, what the hell was that?” I asked pulling her back away from Kate as she tries to swing her foot to kick her in the stomach. Kate was quickly back up on her feet and stepped back avoiding Maddie’s leg. Wiping blood from her lip, Kate looks at Maddie coldly, “Make no mistake Maddie, you get one free one – after that I fight back,” Kate says. Maddie smirks at Kate as she continues dabbing at the blood on her lip. “Now did you both come here to talk or to fight?” she asks us. As she’s standing there her Alpha comes running over to see if everything was alright. “I’m fine Reid but perhaps you can join us for our meeting?” she suggests. I don’t think she had planned for Reid to participate but seeing Maddie’s hostility changed her mind. &
Drake POV “How long were you going to let me look like a fool?” Maddie asks me. I look at this woman in front of me. I can see her anger and hurt, but I have no idea how to help her. “Maddie, you don’t look like a fool,” I start to say as she huffs. She’s standing off by the wall now and I cannot reach her. I stand to move toward her, but she starts to move clearly indicating there is a line in the sand where she doesn’t want me to cross. “I’m the fool. I should have told you sooner, and I most definitely didn’t want you to find out from someone else,” I assure her. She looks at me with contempt. “I didn’t feel we were close enough to have that conversation,” I say to her. “And Kate is right, it was so long ago, it wasn’t a big deal,” I finish.
Kate POV I would have liked to have spoken to Colby before meeting with Reid’s and my fathers; however, I hadn’t heard from him, and I refused to call him again. I could only hope he had seen through Josey’s tricks, and he was fixing things before he called me. As I entered the conference room, I saw Alpha Reid sitting there with his father beside him, former Beta Ralph Thompson. As I sat down, we waited for my father to make his grand entrance. Not surprising me that he was late as he was reluctant to even have this conversation. At least Beta Ralph was prepared to meet us somewhere in the middle. Finally hearing footsteps come closer in the hallway, my father finally graces us with his presence. Former Alpha Jackson, my fath
Kate POV “Colby?” I say in shock. I look at his face; he looks haggard and tired. Moving forward slowly I look at him as he stares back at me. “When are you coming home, Kate?” he asks me. I move forward jumping into his arms wrapping my legs around his waist. He pulls me in tightly to his body, just hugging me. His face is in my neck where my marking spot is. “I’m sorry Kate. Sorry for being such an idiot. I can’t live without you. We need to figure things out,” he says, which sounds muffled as he is still wrapped up in my neck smelling me. I chuckle as it tickles and then moan softly as he swipes his tongue over my marking spot. He knows that always makes me come undone. Moving out o
Kate POV “Are you joking?” I ask him as I continue to look at him from the other side of the tub. “I don’t understand this obsession with Josey, but if she bothers you that much, I’ll look at placing her someplace else when we get back to the Silver Crescent Pack,” he says. I feel like he’s trying to pacify me, but frankly I’ll take it for the short-term. “Did Amelie ever say anything about why she didn’t want Josey around?” I ask Colby. “Kate, Amelie is a little girl with an over-active imagination, she never said anything else, and I never pushed her on it,” he replies. “She was right about your ex-girlfriend,” I remind him. Before I met Colby, his ex-girlfriend Jessica was jealous that he had stopped dating her when we found each other. She scared Amelie into being afraid of me. Amelie final
Drake POV After an uncomfortable night on the couch, Maddie and I were up early and ready to go visit her family at the Red Moon Pack. Maddie was somewhat somber today, and I could tell she was still put out by our discussion from the night before. Her conversation with me had been limited since that chat and she was reluctant to hold my hand today. I didn’t let go of her hand, she simply made little effort to reciprocate the touch. I was conflicted. Maybe I was making too big a deal out of her missing wolf. I didn’t have to mark Maddie to be close to her. I would have another discussion with her, and we could both decide on what we wanted to do going forward. I wanted her to be happy and know I wanted to be with her regardless of whether she gets her wolf back.
Kate POV Colby and I had decided to go back home today. Nothing was happening on the rogue front. I had heard from Drake. He shared with me that Maddie was taking a couple days with her family, which left him feeling conflicted. I knew it was hard to be away from your mate, but maybe this was what Maddie had needed. She did indicate she wanted to see me again, so I offered to Drake that they could take our plane, if they wanted. He agreed so they’ll be coming out when she gets back home. He also promised her a vacation. We were closer to the coast, so he was going to take her to see the ocean as well after we met. Colby had the opportunity to see my parents. While he was disgusted with whatever my father had been involved in all those years ago, he had wanted to apologize to
Kate POV “How could you?” I demand of Colby as we walked into our room. “Kate,” he starts to say when I cut him. “You promised me she wouldn’t be around Amelie,” I remind him. “I know, but she didn’t seem bothered by her when Josey visited,” he says. “Colby, if she was afraid of her, she wouldn’t do anything to piss her off. Why didn’t you ask Amelie more about what she meant when she didn’t want Josey there?” I ask. “Kate, I fucked up. Nobody will regret that more than me,” he says remorsefully. “But why, Colby? That’s not like you,” I say to him going to sit beside him on the couch. I take his hand and hold it in mine as we just sit there. “I was angry at you Kate, I admit it. I wasn’t listening to you, and I messed up with Amelie,” he replies. “I promised her sh
