INICIAR SESIÓNTarian POV
I shut the door of my chamber, the ticking clock echoing in the silence of the room. I stood still for a moment, letting my eyes sweep aound.
This used to be Moriah’s. It was her safe space. Our safe space.
“This wedding should not have happened,” I muttered to the empty air, my voice heavy with a mix of grief and irritation.
I walked over to the king-sized bed, sat on the edge, and pulled open the top drawer of the nightstand. Reaching inside, my fingers found the silver frame I kept hidden beneath a stack of documents. I pulled it out, staring down at the photograph of Moriah and me. She was laughing, her chin tilted up, her eyes bright with that fierce, unyielding light that had captivated me from the very first moment we met.
Instantly, my mother’s voice echoed in my head, sharp and disapproving, repeating the same vile words she had spewed five years ago:
“After everything your father and I did for you, Tarian, you went ahead and married a foreigner! A so-called feminist! A woman who flaunts her personal life online, with zero respect for family traditions or royal order! How can an Alpha King marry someone who preaches that men and women are equal? A woman belongs behind her husband, supporting his crown, not trying to share it!”
My mother had despised her. She believed a Luna’s only duty was to be submissive, quiet, and devoted entirely to the household—the exact mold she had sought out when she forced Livyana on me.
Yet, the very qualities my mother hated were the exact reasons I had fallen madly, hopelessly in love with Moriah. She challenged me. She debated me from an intelligent perspective, pushing me to be a better leader, and never once did she make me feel like less of a man while advocating for equality. She was my equal in every sense of the word.
I stared at her smile in the photograph, a sudden tightness gripping my throat. “I’m sorry,” I whispered, my voice breaking. “I’m so sorry, Moriah.”
I hated myself for disappointing her memory by going through with this shame of a marriage today, for not saying no to my mother as still being the spineless mummy’s boy she married. I felt a surge of anger, a desperate urge to take my frustration out on Livyana—to punish her for invading my life. But the thought died as soon as it formed. If Moriah were here, she would look at me with disgust. She would call me a pathetic misogynist for taking my anger out on an innocent woman who was just as trapped in this arrangement as I was.
I refused to become that person.
“I just won’t go near her,” I told myself, setting the frame down on my lap. “I won’t touch her. I won’t sleep in the same bed. Hell, I won’t even breathe in her direction. This entire circus was my mother’s idea, not mine. I’ll do my duty in public, but in private, she stays on her side of the villa, and I stay on mine. I just need to get this whole nightmare over and done with.”
I rubbed my thumb over the glass, tracing the outline of Moriah’s face.
What would our life look like right now if she hadn’t stepped out of the house that night? The painful thought crept in, unbidden and agonizing. If she had simply listened to me and stayed back... maybe we would have had a pup or two by now. We’d be raising them quietly at my private estate, away from the politics of the main packhouse.
But she had been so headstrong. So stubborn.
A single hot tear escaped my eye, tracing a path down my cheek. I quickly wiped the streak of moisture away with the back of my hand, angry at my own weakness. Men shouldn’t be crying.
Knock. Knock.
The sudden sound at the door broke the quiet atmosphere.
“Who is it?” I called out, my voice sharp and guarded.
“Your Highness,” Silvia’s voice came through. “The Queen Mother asked me to escort your new Luna to your chambers for the night.”
I squeezed my eyes shut, letting out a long, frustrated breath. “Tell her to wait!” I commanded, forcing my tone to sound steady. “Give me fifteen minutes!”
Mother and I agreed no intimacy, why on Goddess green earth is she sending that girl over here.
“Yes, Alpha,” Silvia replied softly, her footsteps retreating down the carpeted hallway.
I looked down at the photograph one last time. “Fifteen minutes,” I murmured softly to the glass.
I neatly tucked the picture frame back into the deep recess of the drawer, sliding it shut until it clicked. Standing up, I unbuttoned my wedding jacket, tossed it over the armchair, and walked straight into the bathroom to wash the day off.
Livia POVI was making my way back to the main house, my head still throbbing from the morning's kitchen drama, when I heard the Queen Mother’s rich, sing-song voice behind me."Is that my beautiful daughter-in-law?"I instantly fixed my face with a polite smile, swallowing the mountain of complaints resting on the tip of my tongue. More questions pricked my mind as minutes went by, but I forced my expression to remain serene."Come... come," Queen Mother Raychel said warmly as she approached, taking my hand and leading me into the living room. She gestured for us to sit on the sofa. "So, how was your night, my dear? I hope you slept well."I recalled the utter madness from last night and fought the desperate urge to roll my eyes."It was fine," I purred softly, folding my hands in my lap. "I slept like a married woman."Maybe lying was another thing I was naturally gifted at, considering how quickly my response lit up the Queen Mother's face."So... I presume sleeping like a married
Livia POV“Rule Number 4: I would like to stay on top of things—I will never leave all the chores to the staff. It is my absolute duty as Luna to keep my husband's house clean and orderly.”Livyana had to be out of her mind. She had to be.I stared at the screen of my phone, my jaw was literally sweeping the wooden floor at this point. These weren't rules a true Luna must follow —these were rules on how to be a perpetual, underpaid housemaid 101! So Livyana is trying to tell me she would leave the luxuries of this estate to be a slave just to score cheap points at being such a dutiful wife?Seriously?I visibly, physically could not see myself manifesting these ridiculous directives for the next three days, let alone three long, agonizing months.Besides, what was there even to clean?!I slipped my phone into my pocket in my dress, crossed my arms, and began pacing down the hallways of the estate. I looked around in sheer disbelief. Something’s stood out for me.First it was the way
Livia POVThis man is rude!I had officially had enough. I didn't need a soothsayer to tell me that my presence in his room was no longer needed, and frankly, my body was screaming for sleep. So, I dramatically bowed my head, turned on my heel, and led myself out of his room. I didn't want a situation that would trigger another episode like last night. Truth be told, I was still a bit shaken by the whole thing. What if Alpha Tarian had actually died in my arms? He was so large, so impossibly strong, yet surprisingly fragile under the right circumstances. I needed to be extremely careful around here. The very first thing I did when I finally reached the safety of my own room was tear off that hideous burgundy nightie. I locked the doors behind me—determined to suffer zero interruptions—and was just about to crash into the plush king-sized bed when my phone chimed on the stand.I froze, easing off a long groan before picking it up to read Livyana’s message:“Liv, I am so sorry for be
Tarian POVI woke up to bulgy eyes staring into my face and screamed.Livyana jumped back to her own side of the bed, hugging a pillow tightly to her chest. "Did you see a ghost?!" she gasped.I rubbed my eyes, glaring at her through the morning light. "Are you not a bad dream, considering the chaos you put me through last night?"She placed one hand on her chest and the other on her head, trying to stabilize her skipping heartbeat. "Thank the Moon Goddess you are still alive!""What was that for?" I asked, my voice dry and raspy. She took a deep breath, wincing slightly. "Is that the thank you I get for watching over you all through the night? Please just let me be, my body hurts."Did she just ask me to let her be? In such a manner?I ignored her for a second and picked up my phone from the nightstand. The screen lit up with breaking news notifications across May Town's pack networks.ROYAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Queen Mother Raychel Welcomes the Vivour-Wilson Family to the Royal Line. Gift
Livia POVWait, is this a joke?! Why on earth is his dick out?!Take it from me—Alpha Tarian has gone completely, utterly mad, and his insanity clearly peaks at different hours of the day!He stepped closer, his eyes burning with unholy desires as he gestured to his front. "Why are you acting so surprised? Just a few minutes ago you acted like you wanted me—calling me your darling husband, remember? Now, would it really be a bad idea if you give your darling husband some of that sugar? Spread your legs and do not make me wait."This man is indeed mad! Moon goddess save your daughter. I should not have joked or called him darling or any terms of endearment. Now I will have to be dragging my underwear with this man in a couple of seconds if you don’t intervene, dear moon goddess!"I am sorry, but where am I spreading my legs to?" I chided him, my voice trembling slightly as I desperately tried to cling to the naive Livyana script. "There is more than enough space on the bed for both of
Tarian POVI walked into the walk-in closet, closing the door behind me, and leaned heavily against the edge of the half-length mirror. I closed my eyes and drew in a long, steadying breath. I just needed to do this for a few minutes to calm the mixed feelings brewing inside me.I hated sharing my bed. I detested the very thought of someone invading my personal space, and for that single reason, I was deeply grateful for one thing: Livyana and I would only be spending this one mandatory night together. Tomorrow, she would return to her own quarters. I urged myself to simply endure her presence for a few hours. Just one night.I reached out and picked a set of dark blue nightwear from the rack. The moment the smooth fabric touched my fingers, a wave of nostalgia slammed into my chest. Dark blue had been Moriah’s favorite color. And While I tried it on, Instantly, my mind flashed back to my first night with Moriah in this very villa. It had been wild, passionate, and completely uninhibi
