Liora’s POV

The sky had darkened, not completely, but enough for shadows to stretch longer across the walls, enough for the golden light of evening to fade into something softer.

I lay still on the bed, my eyes closed.

Fay sat somewhere in the room. I could hear her faint movements, the soft rustle of fabric, the careful way she shifted like she didn’t want to disturb me.

“She’s asleep,” she murmured softly, more to herself than anyone else.

I kept my body loose and unresponsive.

Rio's POVThe walls were beginning to feel smaller. I had paced the length of my room so many times that I could probably walk it blindfolded.I growled under my breath and slammed my fist against the stone wall."Damn it!"The sharp sting that shot through my knuckles did little to ease the fire burning inside me.I was sick of this.Years ago, I had dreamed of power, respect, authority, but now I couldn't even leave my room without someone else's permission.I dropped onto the edge of the bed, dragging both hands down my face."This wasn't how it was supposed to go" I muttered and silence answered me.For the first time in what felt like forever, I allowed myself to think about the past, about where everything had gone wrong."Amarok."Just saying his name made my jaw tighten then I leaned back against the wall and closed my eyes."I should never have gotten involved with you" I said. The words tasted bitter but they were true. Back then, I hadn't seen another option. Kael had strip

  • Alpha Vorthrane's Pet   I Am Not His Pet

Liora's POVThe moment Fay closed the bedroom door behind us, I pulled my hand out of hers. The loud slam of the door echoed through the room, but it did absolutely nothing to calm the storm raging inside me.I was absolutely furious.I began pacing from one end of the room to the other, my boots striking the polished wooden floor with enough force to make my frustration obvious."This is unbelievable" I said.Fay sighed behind me."Liora..."I spun around so quickly my hair whipped over my shoulder."No, don't 'Liora' me."She folded her arms."I'm going to 'Liora' you because you're upset" she replied. "I'm beyond upset. I am angry" I corrected as I threw my hands into the air. "What does he even think I am?"Fay remained quiet and I continued. "He treats me like..." I searched for the right word before shaking my head. "Like some possession he has to lock away whenever something happens."Fay leaned against one of the bedposts."Maybe he was trying to protect you" she suggested.

  • Alpha Vorthrane's Pet   The Oath

Amarok's POVThere were only two kinds of people who walked into the Black Fang Tavern. The desperate and the dangerous. Tonight, I belonged to the second category. The tavern smelled of stale ale, burnt wood and old blood. Laughter echoed from drunken patrons while serving girls weaved effortlessly between tables carrying overflowing mugs. A musician lazily plucked at an old lute in the corner, but the melody did little to drown out the endless chatter. It was noisy and chaotic. The perfect place for secrets to hide.Cassian walked beside me, his injured arm secured beneath a leather brace. Although the wound had begun to heal, every now and then I noticed the slight twitch on his face whenever he moved too quickly."You should still be resting," I said without looking at him.He scoffed."And let you do all the fun work?"I smirked."I wasn't aware threatening strangers was considered fun" I said."It depends on the stranger" he replied. I chuckled. Despite his injury, Cassian hadn

  • Alpha Vorthrane's Pet   Dismissal

Liora's POVThe metallic scent of blood still lingered in the air.Even after the guard had been dragged away from where Amarok's wolves had left him, crimson stains remained on the stone courtyard like ugly reminders that nowhere was truly safe anymore.I stood beside Fay, my fingers tightly wrapped around hers without even realising it. The morning breeze should have been cool and refreshing, but instead it carried tension so thick it felt difficult to breathe.Every warrior in the courtyard looked uneasy. Their eyes kept shifting towards Alpha Kael.Even from where I stood, I could see his jaw harden and his expression became colder.Fay squeezed my hand gently and I looked at her. Her worried blue eyes softened."Liora, are you sure you're alright?" She asked.I nodded, forcing a tiny smile."I'm fine" I said. She frowned."No, you're not. You've been trembling ever since they found that messenger" she replied. "I said I'm okay" I insisted. She studied my face for another second

  • Alpha Vorthrane's Pet   The Dungeon Beckons

Alpha Kael's POVThe bloodstained letter remained in my hand, its edges stained crimson from the unfortunate messenger who had nearly been beaten to death simply to deliver Amarok's words. My commander stepped closer."My Alpha...""He wants us afraid" I muttered. The commander nodded."What are your orders?" He asked. Before I could answer, a piercing scream shattered the silence and my entire body reacted before my mind did.The scream belonged to Liora. My head snapped towards the courtyard as every instinct inside me roared to life. The thought of Amarok hit me with frightening speed.Had he actually come? Had his message merely been a distraction while he slipped inside my estate?Without thinking, I dropped the paper into one of my commander's hands."Protect the gates!"I was already moving. My boots struck the stone courtyard with rapid, thunderous steps and guards hurried after me."Liora!"The name left my mouth before I even realised I had spoken it then my pulse hammered

  • Alpha Vorthrane's Pet   A Message Written in Blood

Liora's POVThe moment the heavy doors of Alpha Kael's study closed behind us, I released a slow breath I hadn't realised I had been holding.I refused to look at him, I simply couldn't. Every nerve in my body still remembered what had happened inside that room. The way he'd stood so close, the way his voice had curled around my thoughts until I couldn't tell where my anger ended and something far more dangerous began.I hated it.I hated him.And yet, I could still feel the warmth of his touch lingering against my skin.I clenched my fists.Get yourself together, Liora. My cheeks burned with humiliation. Worse still, I could feel the embarrassing warmth between my thighs, a reminder of how my own body had betrayed me despite how fiercely I despised him.It made me want to scream."You asshole," I muttered under my breath.Kael slowed his steps just enough to glance sideways at me."What was that?""Nothing" I replied immediately. "I don't believe you.""I wasn't asking you to" I sai
