I still didn’t like it. There were too many variables that could go wrong. But Harlow was right, if I did everything in my power to line things up, that would help us be victorious in the long run. My pack wasn’t alone; we had people who did this sort of thing for a living.

I held onto Harlow for a few minutes. We didn’t need to go now. I knew Harlow only wanted to leave because she could feel the more I waited in my office, the more nervous and panicked I was becoming. I gave her one last squeeze before releasing her.

“Let’s go,” I said as I grabbed her hand and towed her out of the office and to the front.

“Hey, Alpha,” Adam said. We needed our heavy hitters, and the two guards that were downstairs watching over the prisoners were exactly what we needed.

3 months later - Malachi It wasn’t easy relaxing after being on the lookout for potential threats. The guards were still jumpy and constantly running the perimeter. The wolves that we had locked up were given an option: either stay and join our pack or die. It was an easy choice for most, but some still pledged their fidelity to Roan.Harlow didn’t understand how anyone could stand by someone who wanted to eviscerate other packs. And I honestly didn’t have an explanation. They were brainwashed. It was as simple as that.I could tell Harlow struggled with relaxing as well. She was used to traveling and taking the bad guys out, a life full of action. Now she dealt with her Luna duties. Her day-to-day responsibilities were to communicate with the pack and make sure everything was running smoothly. Sometimes I think she wishes that someone would break into our pack so she would have s

Roan growled. “You little bitch, you’re only human. With the snap of my fingers, I could take you out and destroy you.” Adam took another step. I laughed, “I’d like to see you try. I’ve been against guys like you before. Crazy. You think you are indestructible. That’s where I come in, to show you just how fragile you are. Like a little baby bird that I could stomp on.” I grasped for things to yell at him that would piss him off, to keep his attention on me. Adam was now only a few feet away. “You don’t know how powerful I am. I have crushed bigger packs than you, and it was so easy.” He spat at me. “You will see who is weak when I take out your little Alpha here.” He looked down at Malachi.&n

I walked up to his body and shot at his head four more times. I needed to make sure, and it felt really good to kill him. With my luck, he would be resurrected and still want to come after me.I turned and looked at Alec and Joe clawing at each other on the ground. Their faces were elongated, and their teeth extended into fangs. Even though Joe was bigger than Alec, Alec was the Beta and had more power.I aimed and waited. There was no way I was going to leave Alec to fight solo when he rescued me. They rolled around the ground, both trying to find purchase to shift the fight into their favor. I didn’t take my eyes off the target. I waited until Alec rolled on top of Joe, clawed hands around his throat, squeezing tightly. Before they moved again, I shot at Joe's head, it clipped his forehead, making him bleed but not die. I shot again, this time it went straight through the center of his head and out the other side, disturbing the foliage on the ground as

“Because I’m a woman?”“Why else? You are weak by nature, even now you moved away from the fight to have distance from the others. Who runs away from a fight? A weak ass woman that’s what.” Spit flew from his mouth as he continued to yell at me.“So, what you’re saying is that you’re so misogynistic that no woman should have been offered a position at the Faction? That even though I completed all the requirements with flying colors, I still shouldn’t have been offered the job.” I tilted my head towards him.“Of course.” He glared at me.My face dropped. “You’re the one who gave me those photos at the safehouse.” I pointed at him. “You’re the one who has been stalking me.”Connor let out a laugh. “Who the fuck else would? You’re not so smart, are you? I thought that you would have figured it out sooner and would have ratted m

Almost in unison, our group turned and looked at where the voice was coming from. The man who spoke looked evil. The typical bad guy in a cheesy movie. His dark, greasy hair was slicked back; he was almost as big as Malachi, but a couple of inches shorter and not as broad. He looked as if he hadn’t had a shower in months. Actually, his whole entourage looked like they mutually agreed to never shower again. The only thing that Roan was missing was an eye patch to really give the bad guy vibes. “I was about to implement my second phase of the takeover,” Roan walked in front of his men. He brought easily two dozen men to back him up. “Then lo and behold, one of my men comes back and presents me with a lovely note from the Alpha of the Mountain Creek Pack.” He stopped in front of us and gave a smile. “Are you ready to surrender, so easily?”&
