The curtain comes down

*Nathan POV*

The show ended and the audience stood up, applauding the group. But my eyes were still only on my mate.

The first queen introduced herself and the rest of the crew. When she got to my mate she smiled brightly and bowed, her eyes met mine again and she kept in contact while I was standing there, clasping with a wide grin.

Savy Reed.

That's my mate's name. But what should I do next?

People started to disperse and the crew along with Savy went behind the curtain. I sat still in my place, not really knowing what to do.

“Come on, Nate. Everybody left already.” Kaiden shook my arm and I growled in answer.

“Mate’s here. I'm not going anywhere.”

“She is a human, Nathan, you can't just stalk her.” Trinity sighed and sat next to me, trying to focus my attention on her. “Come, she will be leaving through the back exit, we will come with you and introduce you to each other.”

I pondered for a second and finally huffed with agreement. That is the safest approach.

Although my wolf is trying to convince me that throwing her over my shoulder and running into the forest to mate in nature is, in fact, the best option.

I shook off the thoughts and finally got up. Caleb decided to wait by the car.

The three of us waited at the back door. Trinity and Kaiden were chatting silently, laughing from time to time and I paced nervously. My heart beat hard in my chest, afraid of what might happen.

When the doors opened and the first girls walked out, my ears perked up. But my mate was not among them.

The one that played the first queen looked at my beta and his mate and then at me.

“How can I help you?” She smiled sweetly, licking her lips while looking at me.

“We are waiting for Savy.” Trinity said, crossing her hands over her chest.

“Really?” The girl rolled her eyes, almost scoffing. “Why?”

“We wanted to thank her for the best tickets.” She-wolf answered, now irritated with the first queen.

“Well, she is still changing. You can thank me instead.” She flirts shamelessly, coming closer to me, still ignoring the now pissed off Trinity.

“No, thank you. I'll pass.” I said with a shiver of disgust.

“Your loss.” She shrugged and left with her giggling friend.

“What a bitch.” Trinity huffed, angrily leading the first queen with her sight.

I chuckled but stopped abruptly as my mate walked outside. Her cherry scent invaded my nostrils and I breathed it in, deep into my lungs.

My hands were shaky and my heart beat rapidly as she looked from Trinity to Kaiden and finally at me. Her electric eyes wandered along my body, sending shivers down my spine.

“Hey Savy!” Trinity squealed and hugged her. “Thank you for the tickets. The show was amazing! YOU were amazing.”

My mate looked back at Trish and she reciprocated the hug, smiling.

“Thank you! I'm happy that you came!” She said heartily with a broad, bright smile. “And you brought friends.”

Her eyes darted back to me and I smiled at her, coming closer.

“Yeah, Savy, this is Nathan, our close friend. Nate, this is Savy, the girl we met in a bar.” Kaiden introduced us and she gave me her hand to shake.

When I touched her small palm and my big hand completely covered hers, I felt the tingles going from the point our skin touched, through my whole body.

“It's nice to meet you.” She said quietly, not letting go of my hand.

“Yeah, it's a pleasure." I said with a low voice, stepping a little closer. I felt her body tremble and a delicious blush creeped into her face. "You were wonderful today."

"Thank you. I saw you in the front row."

"Yeah, I couldn't take my eyes off of you." I said quietly, my voice deep.

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"Oh shoot, Kaiden we have to go." Trinity said with a gasp and both me and Savy turned to her, snapped back from our trance. "We were supposed to visit my mother. We promised."

She whined, pulling Kaiden with her. I chuckled, knowing very well that they didn't.

"What? We weren't…" Kaiden frowned but the realization hit him. "Oh, yeah, right. Sorry guys. We have to go. You have fun though."

They both got away quickly and Savy laughed.

"Really smooth." She snickered.

"So uhm, Savy…" I started, not really knowing how to approach this. "Do you want to… ehh. I don't know…"

I never had trouble talking with any woman. But to be fair, none of them were my mate.

"Listen, usually after shows or training I go to a nearby fast food restaurant, to regain some calories." She giggled and pointed to a neon with a restaurant logo. "Do you want to join me?"

"Sure, I'd love to." I exhaled with relief and she giggled again.

We walked close to each other, our hands brushing from time to time. Any time our skin made contact, sparks ran through me, causing a rumble in my chest.

I smiled for the whole walk, happy to be next to my mate.

We walked inside the chain restaurant and we stood in front of a touch screen where you put your order.

"Take anything you want. My treat." I smiled and her eyes went wide.

"You don't have to. I usually eat a lot. Like, the whole rugby team, lot." She giggled, blushing.

"Yeah, take as much as you can eat. I should've bought flowers but instead I'd be happy to buy you food." I chuckled, seeing her excitement.

"Uhm, okay." She started tapping the screen and my eyes got wide, seeing the amount of fries and burgers. Finally, she stepped away and I added my order to hers.

"Are you sure? I know it's a lot." She asked sheepishly.

"A hundred percent sure. Go get us a seat and I'll pick up the order." I laughed and shooed her. She made a mocking bow and went to a booth with a broad smile.

The server looked at me funny while putting the food on three trays.

"My girl likes to eat." I shrugged with a smile.

My girl. I wonder when I will be able to officially call her that.

Don't rush it. You have to go slowly with her. She is a human after all.

When I waited for our order to be completed, I was watching her.

She was talking on the phone with someone, yawning. I guess she must be really worned out after the show.

I took all three trays at once and walked to our booth. She looked at me in awe.

"So strong." She gushed and I puffed out my chest more. It feels good being complimented by your woman.

"Anyway, I have to go. Bye." She hung up on her call and put her phone back in her purse. "Sorry, my roommate got worried that I'm not on my way yet."

"No problem. Here you go." I slid the tray her way and she beamed with happiness. I chuckled at her eagerness and grabbed my food.

"So, Savy." I started while watching her devour her burgers. "Are you from here?"

She shook her head and gulped.

"Nah, I moved here with my roommate, who is also my only friend, slash family, around two years ago." She said with a smile. "And you? Are you local?"

"Yeah, I was born here and still live nearby, although I'm rarely in Bellingham."

"What do you do?" She asked curiously.

"I have a personal security company, our agents work as bodyguards for celebrities or politicians."

"Wow, that's impressive." She said in awe, but her smile fell after a second. "I'm just a singer, I work at a bar a few nights a week and do performances with a theatrical group at various events."

She put away her burger and sighed.

"Just a singer? Are you kidding me? You have an amazing voice. I've never heard anyone sing with such passion." I said while reaching over the table to grab her hand. She looked at me, those big, blue eyes a little watery. "You give away to the community by doing charity events like this one. I think you are amazing."

She looks me in the eyes, her mouth slightly open.

"Thank you." She said quietly, hanging her head. "I guess I get a little insecure sometimes. I wish I could do something else, something I could really brag about, but it's not really easy for me. At least not now."

"You should be proud of yourself." I smiled, caressing my thumb across her knuckles. "Thanks to you I may now see another musical."

She giggled, her beautiful smile warming my heart.

"Thank you. Really." She put her other hand over mine. "You are a really nice man."

"Nice enough to get your number?" I wiggled my eyebrows and she laughed.

"We'll see." She winked back at me.

"At least it's not a definite no." I smirked. "Now dig up."

She nodded and got back to eating.

For the rest of our meal we talked about rather simple, lighthearted things. It was good to get to know her. Knowing what she likes and dislikes.

I learned that her favorite color is pink and her favorite flowers are tulips. She loved all animals, reptiles such as snakes being her absolute number one.

She asked about my favorites as well. She was interested in what color is my favorite or what I like to eat.

We laughed at each other's jokes and I really could feel the bond forming and tightening.

I will cherish her forever, I know that already.

All I have to do is to win her heart and tell her that I am a werewolf.

Easy, right?
