Rowland's Fury

The heavy door to Rowland’s chamber swung open with a deep groan. He stepped inside, his boots striking the floor in sharp, deliberate thuds. His eyes scanned the room once, then twice.

The bed was untouched. The sheets smooth. The air was still, as if no one had breathed there for hours.

His jaw clenched. “Rina,” he called, his voice echoing in the empty chamber. Silence answered him.

He hadn't seen her in an entire day.

He stepped forward, glancing toward the balcony, the corners, the shadowed edge near the wardrobe. Nothing.

The muscle in his jaw twitched. His hand curled into a fist.

“She dares…” he muttered under his breath.

In a sudden burst, his anger surged. “Rina!” His voice boomed, shaking the quiet. Still no answer.

He spun on his heel and marched out, slamming the door so hard the walls trembled.

The corridors seemed to shrink under the weight of his fury. Maids carrying linens froze mid-step,

Elara’s heart raced as she hurried toward the door. Her disguise was fragile, and the fear of being caught burned in her chest. She reached for the handle, but before she could step out, the guard at the door straightened. His eyes narrowed on her face.“Wait,” he said sharply. “What’s your name? And what were you doing inside? You said you had a message. I want to hear it again.”Elara’s stomach twisted. For a moment, she thought her voice would fail her, but she forced herself to answer, lowering her head as though too shy to meet his eyes.“My name is Sterling,” she whispered quickly. “I was sent to remind her to… to prepare and wait for the Alpha. That is all.”The guard folded his arms, still staring at her. His tone was suspicious.“You were in there long. What took you so much time for such a simple message?”Elara’s hands trembled against the bowl she still carried. “She… she was slow to answer. I had to repeat myself.”

  • Alpha's Cursed Breeder    Elara's Disguise

Rina wasn't sure about what to do. Every idea that crossed her mind seemed to be self destructive and she wasn't ready to take that path. She wanted to approach Rowland from a safe spot where she would not be incapacitated. Her wolf’s voice broke the heavy quiet. “Are you thinking of running, Rina?”“Yes,” Rina whispered. “Maybe I should run before Rowland comes.”Her wolf sighed. “If you run, you will not make it. The guard is just outside. He will catch you. You will end up back in the dungeon, weaker than before.”Rina rubbed her arms. Her skin felt cold though the room was warm. The last place she wanted to be in again was the dungeon. Going there meant she would be unable to do anything and she would be under the mercy of everyone, with no way out. “Then what should I do? If I stay, Rowland will…” Her voice trailed off, fear tightening her throat.“We wait,” her wolf said softly. “We think. We stay strong and wait for an op

Her legs trembled from weakness, but she stood.Rowland stopped a few feet from her, his gaze fixed. “What were you doing in the woods?”“I already told you,” Rina said softly. “Maggie sent men to get rid of me. They tied me to a tree. They left me there. I freed myself and came back.”His mouth twisted. “That’s your story?”“It’s the truth,” she said.Rowland took a slow step closer. “Maggie is not capable of such a thing.”Rina’s voice shook. “She is. You don’t know what she’s capable of.”“I know her better than you,” he said, his tone sharp. “Y

Her stomach hurt. Her hands trembled when she tried to sit up.Mel’s voice came from inside her mind. “You must hold on. We still have to find Neri.”Rina’s head rested against the wall. “I can barely move, Mel.”“You must,” Mel said firmly. “We cannot let Elara be alone. We cannot leave that girl in the woods.”Rina shut her eyes. “I want to get out. I need to protect Elara. And get Neri…”She was still talking to her wolf when the sound of footsteps came from the hall. The steps were slow, almost lazy.Rina lifted her head.Maggie appeared at the bars, her face calm, her eyes sharp.“Well,” Maggie said, folding her arms. “You’re alive. • Alpha's Cursed Breeder    Kendrick's Discovery
