I wiped away any remnant of tears and pulled my chaotic emotions all together before walking into Killian's room. The last thing I wanted was for him to assume the battle had affected me negatively. If anything, I wanted the sight of me to encourage him to allow me to take charge of other fighting without hesitation. 

Instinctively, my gaze zeroed in on the bed as I stepped into the room, and there he lay still with his eyes closed. I frowned at the unfamiliar sight. I was so used to seeing him conscious and in charge that the sight of him sleeping didn't sit well with me.
