KILLIAN’S POVThree consecutive days!It took Celeste three good days to recover. And all I did throughout the 72 hours of waiting was sit by her bedside and beg her to open her eyes already. She listened once, blinked a few times, and stared into my eyes like a drunk person would stare at the world, then slowly, she drifted back into her sleep. Before I could get to the doctors, she had fallen asleep again. That was torture, but I never complained as it was better than death. God, I thought I lost her. I couldn’t even bear to think of that condition. I refused to see anyone, to do anything productive with my life until after she woke up. The elders have, of course, been pressing hard on Logan and Sam to see me. Logan would have definitely given in, but Sam had told them all to go and fuck themselves to while away time while waiting for me, as they definitely wouldn’t be seeing me anytime soon.I didn’t even attempt to correct him. They could do whatever they desired. Threaten me, pul
KILLIAN'S POV Whatever haze was in my eyes cleared up immediately after he spoke. I stared at him, my gaze filled with so much hope and reliance on his next words, as if they would determine if I would inhale the next breath or not. Well, technically, they would. "What?" I whispered, attempting to pull myself up but failing miserably. The aftermath of that realization had worked its way across my entire body, every bone and muscle. It was as if they had all lost their purpose. "Celeste is fine, the physicians confirmed it was just a concussion in the head as a result of something hitting her hard." He muttered, his tone light and calm, he couldn't be lying to me, there was no way on earth that this could be a lie. "I....I thought.....the witches...." "Were just anxious that Malthus was going to return and they had to get you both to safety just in case he reappeared and there was no longer a moonstone to protect you as they explained." I opened my mouth to speak but nothing
KILLIAN’S POV The impact of the blast sent Celeste flying across the field with alarming force. I yelled in terror and dashed forward to grab her but it was too late, there was no way I could do that. Her wolf was sent into the air, shoved backward, and landed on the bark of the same tree I had landed on. I wish I could say that cushioned her fall, but I knew how hard that damn tree was—I felt it. I rushed forward toward her, wasting no time, not bothering to spare even a glance at the scene behind me. My mate before anything, even myself. “Celeste!!” I screamed into the mindlink. I got nothing in response but a grunt of pain. By the time I reached her, I had transformed back into a human, scooped her wolf into my hands, and tried to look for any damage. “Celeste?” I whispered, the urgency in my tone unmistakable. “Celeste, are you alright? Don’t you dare die on me, you hear me? You are not allowed to do so.” I was beginning to panic now and I scooped her into my hands and jolted
CELESTE’S POV I was in a daze. I could feel it. My eyes were clearer, and my ears could hear better. It almost felt like my soul was simply shoved into a new body, and I was seeing and hearing the world from a different perspective. Even the witches chanting in strange language seemed to make perfect sense now. It was just like they were speaking directly to me. “You cannot fight him to success. Stop the war, stop the violence, give him peace, give him love as it is a poison to him. The war will only fuel him. Harmony will not.” They chanted chorally, staring blankly into space. I took a step toward him for the first time, reworking what they were saying through my head like an anthem. I was sure Killian could hear it. He could also feel the complete peace that took over me and I am sure it synced with him. Malthus snarled as I moved forward, definitely hating the new aura that surrounded me. That’s right. It will work. We need to be at peace. Every other emotion out, we need t
KILLIAN'S POV I felt it. The shift in the energy around me was strange and confusing at first, mostly because I was not expecting it and had no idea where it came from. But when I finally made sense of it, everything became clearer, the air felt lighter, my hearing became sharper, and my zeal became replenished. And Malthus, he felt it too and it had the exact effect on him. That's it. The power of love as the witches had said. That was the only way we could get rid of him, letting our love flow between and around us as we attacked him, unlike the usual anxiousness, anger, and even fear which only made him stronger. He couldn't feed off love and when he has nothing to feed from, we will certainly get to him. Suddenly I felt even more substantial, my claws dug into the soft sand below me. I groaned, staring intensely at him. He had backed out a bit from the shock of changed energy but that was about all the reaction I got from him. He stood still immediately he recovered, tastin
SAM’S POV Everything seemed to be under control in the throne room, Kaiden was wandering around, looking through the historical artifacts earned from different occasions by my father, the fathers before him but mostly Killian. Any other day, I would have stopped him knowing it just doesn’t sit right for an Alpha to be going through the stuff of another Alpha especially if they weren’t on good terms to begin with. But today wasn’t the day plus the whole estate would need a complete makeover after the whole war was over. I was completely worried about more practical things instead. How Killian and Celeste were doing out there for a start. I knew the witches are less likely to contribute anything to the success of their operation. I believe they have no use being there or being in the palace as a whole but I would give them a chance one more time, believing they might pull a miraculous move up their sleeves. I was becoming bored as minutes passed and was actually considering pulling
