Valerie's POV

I am forced to shift as I run to Zayne's side.

I feel for his pulse and immediately heave a breath of relief. Thank goddess he is still alive. But what happened?

The answer appears in my peripheral as a boot steps into the light. I raised my head and clashed eyes with none other than Tyrone. My eyes widened. Shit! I am supposed to meet him this morning, but in this situation it was impossible.

A disappointed look marred his face. He frowned.

"You are late." he said lowly. His gaz

Valerie’s POV:Staring wide-eyed as Evan shifted into his alpha wolf and jumped at the man holding a knife to Valerian’s chest, I sucked in a breath.Evan mauled his neck before we hear a snap and the man’s head dropped to the ground, then his body followed. The silence that came after was filled with shock before I eventually snapped out of my trance and turned tot he others. There were three more, standing there with shocked faces on their own before they quickly grabbed ahold of each other. Before I could get my hands on any of them, the three disappeared. And as they did, the man’s body quickly turned to rot and decay, eventually turning into ashes with just his coat remaining solidified.Evan’s low growls turned into soft whimpers. My eyes snap to his large wolf, who makes eye contact with us for a whole moment before lowering his gaze to Valerian. He had stumbled back, his mouth agape watching as Evan mauled the guy, effectively splitting his head from his body in the process.‘

Valerian’s POV“Look what we have here,” a mocking voice echoed from a distance.“Who’s there?!” I demand and Levi freezes beside me.“Two lovebirds. What a disgusting sight to see.” the voice chuckles.I pause. Lovebirds?“What the fuck are you talking about? Come out and show yourself,” I demand. Levi goes rigid while I stared out into the darkness.A tall, dark figure stepped forward. I felt a sick, intimidating aura burst into the air. His aura slamming into me like shards of glass I almost suffocate.I see Levi looking at the figure with widened eyes, thinking the same thing as I am.This man is incredibly dangerous, that’s for sure. He’s cloaked, about 6 ft tall and has a bulky frame.I don’t know why he’s here and what he’s up to, but the terrifying smile on his face tells me it’s no good.I unconsciously take a step backward when Levi groaned out in pain, holding his stomach.“Levi!” I watch him take slow, deep breaths before he turned to me with a bead of sweat trailing down

  • Alpha's Detective Luna   ONE HUNDRED TWENTY FIVE

Valerian’s POV:I awake to the sound of birds chirping and tweeting. Warmth spread through my cheeks and I force my eyes open to the sight of the bright blue sky greeting me.But that is only the background of the main focal point of the scene. Inches away from me is Levi, staring straight into my eyes while his hands are pinned on the grass on both sides of my head. His gaze quickly turned from confusion to shock, then embarrassment as he moved off of me, while I laid there, blinking at the clouds and the memory of his reddened face. Was he… blushing?“Y-You were sleeping so peacefully, I couldn’t wake you up,” he murmured under his breath.Keeping my eyes locked on Levi, I noticed the way his ears turned bright red. I chuckled deeply, finding his awkward display of his embarrassment rather amusing just before realization hit me.“Wait, what time is it?” I asked frantically looking around the brightly-lit forest. It looked just as magical as it was last night, but holy shit, if I’m l

Valerie’s POVI had just shut down my laptop and got ready for bed. Remembering I had to mindlink Valerian when he will be home, I decided to wait until it is thirty minutes before his curfew. Although I know he wouldn’t get into trouble, that kid. He always kept to himself and stayed out of trouble, and that’s exactly what makes me so worried. He acts like he has to meet everyone’s expectations of him like he doesn’t have the will to have his own.I sighed deeply, and looked up at the moon out the large ceiling to floor window beside my canopy bed.‘He came, you know,’ Liana spoke softly.I furrowed my brows.‘Who?’‘Evan. He was standing behind our door but didn’t knock,’ Liana informed me, and my eyes grew wide like saucers before snapping my head to the door. My heart is beating incredibly fast and my stomach sank.‘Do… do you think he…’ I was about to ask the full question but Liana beat me into it.‘I think he did, but it doesn’t matter, right?’ Liana asked me, but to be honest

  • Alpha's Detective Luna   ONE HUNDRED TWENTY THREE

Evan’s POVIt’s piping hot in this kitchen. I couldn’t take it anymore so I took off my shirt. At least it helped me get some air while I get things done.I have never washed dishes before, and I don’t know what the heck I’m doing, but hey, it’s just washing dishes, right? It should be that simple.I stared down at the pile of plates surrounding the sink. It’s dirty, I thought. Shit. I pick up the sponge and scrunch my nose as I scrub the dirt off the plate, when I hear a shriek from behind me. I jump and snap my head to see a blonde-haired woman with hazel eyes wearing her hair in a bun with her mouth agape. Her eyes fixed on the plate in my hand.“What are you doing?” she gasps and walks over to the sink. She puts her hand on her hip and gives me a look.“Have you never washed dishes before?” she asks then sniffs the air. Her eyes widened the next moment. I just give her a small smile. She must have picked up my alpha scent by now and would probably act nervous.“No, no, no!” she

  • Alpha's Detective Luna   ONE HUNDRED TWENTY TWO

Valerie’s POVWhat the hell is he doing?‘Jerrick, why on earth is he serving pack members?’ I mindlink Jerrick quickly.Even as I did, I didn’t stop eating.‘Well, Alpha, I am short in cooks here. As you may know, I am the only chef and I told you I wanted to train somebody to help me in cooking. He’s talented, so I took the chance,’ he explains in a respectful but firm tone.Guilt flashes through me. I remember telling him I’ll get back to his request two weeks ago when he asked for another chef. I was too busy handling other paperworks that I forgot.I look down at the bowl and around my pack members happily enjoying their meal. Some even rushed to the counter for a second bowl. Now I feel embarrassed.‘If that’s the case, then I’ll allow it. I’ll look into other applicants who can help,’ I say.‘I appreciate it, Alpha, but I’ll have Evan work with me in the meantime.’ he insists, and my head pounds.Jerrick is stubborn but he’s right.‘Alright, Jerr. Feel free to tell me if there
