All eyes were focused on Miriam, anticipating her response. I was especially disappointed in my father for readily providing information to his queen and not defending me when she implied that my cursed star might be the cause of my mate's miscarriages.

It was as if I were the only one born under the cursed star's influence. I knew of other male wolves born around the same time as me who were already mated and had children. Why should my situation be any different?

My father's supposed care and understanding had vanished. Now, news of my mate's miscarriages would undoubtedly spread rapidly throughout the palace and even across the entire Starfall kingdom.

The sorceress turned her attention to me, saying, "I will speak only if the person involved consents," clearly recognizing the tension in the room and my desire for privacy. She waited for my response.

At least someone understood that I didn't want my personal matters discussed in the presence of a woman who had harbo
