Sireen’s POV

‘Maybe she’s not here because of me.’ That’s what I think after standing in front of the shop for a minute, watching Elowen contemplate between two flowers. Maybe she’s just here for flowers, so I decide to wait for her to leave before going inside.

“Sireen.” The sound of my name pulls me from my thinking, and when I turn to the entrance door from where it came, Elowen is standing there.

I must have been so deep in my thoughts that I didn’t notice when she saw me and came out. With a forced smile, I greet her and approach.

“Hi, Elowen.”

She has her signature welcoming smile on, but that could just be the calm before she unleashes a storm on me for quitting my day old job via text from an unknown number.

I wear my adult pants and decide to squarely face whatever the consequences are.

“I’m sorry for any troubles I may have caused, Elowen, I truly am. I know that Lily might not have anyone attending to her at this very moment, but I feel that I have intruded enough.” I try

Trevor’s POVI didn’t know who to blame for the cluster fuck of a situation I found myself in.Sireen? That would be the easiest, but it could also have been Mom or Grandma Lily. Or was it the three of them altogether? Whoever it was, they had successfully screwed me over.Mom couldn’t convince me to apologize to Sireen for throwing her out, the same way I couldn’t convince her not to re-hire her.In her words, “This is your grandmother’s house, and you have no authority over anyone here. If it’s too much trouble for you, you can easily pack your things and come back home.”Funny how she now cared about me coming back home, but that display was not enough reason to go back and resume the position of disappointment of the century. I wanted to be with Grandma Lily, and I had no intention of returning to the same house as Dad and Mom, so I had to put up with Sireen’s presence all over the house. She came back, torturing me with her existence, her trail, and even her absence. Since that f

  • Alpha’s Halfling Mate: Branded By My Sister’s Death    Chapter 38: Getting Some Attention

Sireen’s POVWhat snaps me out of my little moment with Enzo is a second limb vibration from his phone, and I turn to face a hedge, my hands coming to the ground beside me to touch some much needed grass.“This is for you,” Enzo says, putting his phone up, and I see the text I sent to Elowen, only now, she has responded. My heart slows in my chest as I dust my hands against each other and reach for the phone, biting my lower lip nervously. I read her response quietly. [I’m sorry, but I have to disagree with you, Sireen. I can’t let you do that. We should meet.]As if the phone is tied to a hot pot of coal, I hand it back to Enzo and release a frustrated sigh. He doesn’t have to ask before I tell him. “She says she won’t let me quit.”Enzo chuckles. “I haven’t seen where that has happened before. Rejecting your resignation. What are you going to do?”I shrug, remembering the way Trevor looked at me. How he acted. There is no faking a dislike such as that. I can’t endure hatred when w

  • Alpha’s Halfling Mate: Branded By My Sister’s Death    Chapter 37: The Trevor And Sireen Mess

Sireen’s POVTrevor was right. I did survive and make it home, but not before rain drenched me and the cold wrapped around my body like a second skin, entering into my bones and making me shiver violently by the time I got home. Thank the goddess I didn’t have any books in my bag because anything that could’ve been ruined by water got spoiled, including my phone. When I got home, Mom was in the living room, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch with a steaming cup of tea in her hands, but she rushed up on seeing me. I didn’t have it in me to regard her, so I dragged myself to my room, shut the door, and made sure it was locked. I only held out for as long as it took for me to shred my drenched clothes and change into the nearest ones I could find, and without a shower or a response to Mom, I curled up on the floor and didn’t move until the sun broke through my window this morning. Now, I’m in school, and I’m still too shaken from what happened yesterday to even pay attention in class

Sireen’s POVIf someone gave me an option, I think I would have taken a dream or an intruder over this, but no. Trevor is really standing across me, looking angry, and sexy as hell.He has on a black singlet on matching sweatpants and socks over flops, and one thing that’s running through my head is that he looks rather at home. Other than what he’s wearing, my eyes fall to his arms. From a little above his wrists to right below his elbows, dark intricate lines form patterns around his arms. I didn’t know Trevor had tattoos, but then again, I have only ever seen him in hoodies or long sleeves.I don’t get enough time to study the art more before he inches closer to me, but his steps are wobbly. My eyes dart from the bottle in his hand to the broken glass on the floor and back to his face.“You’re drunk,” I state the obvious, but that’s not what he wants to hear.“And I also asked you a question. What are you doing here?”Through my tied tongue and mess of a brain, I scramble for somet

Sireen’s POVFor someone who said they were fed up with people yapping around them all day long, Lily Anderson was one yapper herself. It has been six hours since I got here, and after the first thirty minutes, I let Elowen know that I was in. I didn’t care about how much they were going to pay me, I was doing it.Since then, I have learnt quite a bit about Lily Anderson and this place, some from what she told me, and the rest from observing.Lily was sick, having issues with her heart and bones, and when she wasn’t worn down by her medications, she read books written by people half her age. She says she loves to feel like she’s in her youth again by being in mystical settings, and not only did I understand that perfectly, but I could also relate to her.In her words, “life doesn’t have to be that serious.” In the mornings, she likes to walk around her big ass estate, tend to her herbs and flowers, or grow the garden where she gets most of her organic food.Aside from Lily being so
