"Training ground. Now."

Rika's voice cut through my spiral of guilt and self-pity.

"I don't think I should—"

"I don't give a shit what you think. You want to survive, or do you want to lie down and die?"

Her words stung. But she was right.

I followed her to the training pit. A few pack members were already there, watching.

"Same rules as always," Rika said, wrapping her hands. "Hit me like you mean it."

We started circling each other. But I felt off. Shaky. The emotional breakdown from earlier had left me drained.

Rika came at me fast. I barely blocked her first punch.

"Where's that freak strength yesterday now?" she taunted, throwing another combination.

I stumbled backward. My vision was starting to blur.

"Come on!" she shouted. "Fight back!"

I tried. But my body felt like it was moving through water. Everything was slow and wrong.

Rika swept my legs. I hit the mat hard.

"Pathetic," someone in the crowd muttered.

Rika grabbed my shirt and hauled me up. "You done? Ready to quit?"

CallaA slow smirk spread across Dante's pale features as his eyes met mine. The vampire moved toward me with that liquid grace that made my skin crawl, each step calculated and predatory."Well, hello again, old friend," he said, his voice carrying false warmth that made my stomach twist. "You really are going to change things, aren't you? Be part of something truly magnificent."I shuddered as his cold gaze traveled over me. The casual way he spoke about our past encounters made me remember how Blake could even think to work with such an old, manipulative creature. Dante radiated the rough kind of patient evil that came from centuries of experience destroying people. My mind drifted to that Lord Virex, wondering why he hadn't suspected these rogue vampires working their own agenda. During one of my dreamwalks, I'd sensed Virex's immense power when he'd almost detected my presence. Was he really as powerful as he seemed, or were Dante and Blake better at deception than I'd thought?B

CallaThe metallic taste of fear coated my mouth as Blake placed a kiss on my forehead. His touch still felt irritatingly possessive, like a snake claiming its territory. My skin crawled everywhere he made contact."Everything is going according to plan," he said in a sing-song voice, stepping back with that smug expression that made me want to tear his throat out. "It's just so perfect."He hummed something off-key as he walked toward the laboratory door, his new vampire grace making each step look choreographed. The sight of him moving with such unnatural fluidity reminded me that he was no longer fully human."I'll be back soon with a little surprise for you, my dear," Blake called over his shoulder. "We have so much to celebrate tonight."The door clicked shut behind him, leaving me alone with the three figures suspended across the room. The silence stretched for several heartbeats before Lucien's bitter laughter cut through the air."Well, well," he said, his voice dripping with

CallaThe shadows shifted as my eyes adjusted, and my breath caught in my throat. Four figures hung suspended in metal harnesses along the far wall, their bodies showing signs of extended captivity. But what made my blood run cold wasn't just seeing them there - it was recognizing who they were.Lucien Vale hung loosely, his usually perfect appearance disheveled and bloody. Beside him, Vera's pale hair was matted with dried blood, her face twisted with barely contained rage. Michael looked smaller somehow, diminished by whatever Blake had done to him during his captivity. But it was Marcus Kane who made me gasp aloud. The man hung unconscious, his head lolled forward while thin tubes snaked from his arms into collection bags that slowly filled with dark fluid. Whatever Blake was extracting from him, it was clearly more than just blood.Blake clapped his hands together like he was unveiling a prize at a carnival. The sound echoed through the laboratory as he pressed another button on h

Blake's smile turned predatory as he continued. "You see, your precious mate mentioned something very interesting during his stay with me. Marcus Kane. Another feral-born with exceptional abilities.""That little tidbit was enough to satisfy my immediate curiosity," Blake said. "So I let him go. After all, I already knew about you, my dear."The casual way he said it made my blood freeze. Blake had known I was a moonkeeper all along, I knew that at least."The question wasn't whether I could find you," Blake continued. "The question was when the right moment would present itself. And thanks to your mate's rescue mission, you delivered yourself right into my hands.""You bastard," I snarled, pulling against the restraints that held me to the bed."Business, my dear. Nothing personal." Blake set the tablet aside and moved closer, his hand reaching out to stroke my hair in a gesture that made my skin crawl. "Though I must admit, having you here does bring back memories of our marriage."

CallaThe world felt like it was underwater. Everything moved in slow waves around me, sounds muffled and distant. My body floated in thick liquid that tasted metallic when it seeped past whatever was covering my mouth and nose. The breathing apparatus felt heavy against my face, keeping me alive while I drifted in this strange half-conscious state.I couldn't tell how long I'd been floating. Time had no meaning in this liquid prison. Sometimes I surfaced to awareness, catching glimpses of movement beyond the glass walls of my tube. Shadows that might have been people. Lights that brightened and dimmed in patterns I couldn't understand. My skin felt strange, hypersensitive to every current in the fluid around me. I realized with distant horror that I was naked, my body completely exposed and vulnerable. But the drugs coursing through the liquid made it impossible to feel the panic that should have come with that knowledge. The visions came in fragments during my brief moments of clari

  • Alpha's Heat His To Ruin Hers To Heal   Chapter 147: The Breaking Point V

AxelThe afternoon sun filtered through the compound's old windows, casting long shadows across the main hall where I stood watching the pack go through their daily routines. A week had passed since Jordan's murder and Calla's kidnapping, but the compound still felt hollow, like a house with too many empty rooms.I found myself looking toward the small cemetery behind the compound, where Jordan's grave sat under the oak tree we'd planted years ago for fallen pack members. Rikka had been out there again this morning, same as every day for the past seven days.My feet carried me across the courtyard before I consciously decided to walk over. The grass was still damp from the morning dew, and I could smell the fresh earth where we'd laid Jordan to rest just days ago.Rikka stood in front of the simple stone marker, holding a small bouquet of wildflowers in one hand and something else in the other. She wasn't crying anymore - that had stopped after the third day. Now she just looked tired
