Skye's POV

After Damian kissed me, everything blurred. It was like the world around me slowed down but only for a second. Just long enough for my heart to stop and my breath to catch. It was like my brain forgot how to function. I moved through the rest of the moment in a trance, barely aware of the music, the chatter, the clinking of glasses all around us. My heart kept racing, and no matter how many times I tried to breathe, I couldn’t shake the feel of his lips on mine.

Servers weaved through the crowd, and someone called my name more than once but I couldn’t respond. I couldn’t even look up properly.

Because all I could think about was him.

His scent still lingered in the air around. The feel of his hand on the small of my back, the way he’d leaned down, his breath ghosting over my skin before his lips found mine kept replaying in my mind.

I didn’t know what to feel about the kiss.
