Scarlett's point of view...
Alpha's men were not on alert. They had just received the order from their Alpha but were shocked to see me lunging down.I wasn't used to being a wolf yet, and the fact that I just rolled down made my knuckles twitchy. I looked at them and then at the opened door in front of me and before they could process the command, I ran out of the pack house. After running so long, I remembered the thing about the locket in my hoof.I recalled what Catherine told me, that I must not shift, I had to hide my scent not only because Alpha Xian could find me but also because my scent is unique and can only bring me troubles. Catherine told me that I had to hide it and I will.I took that locket and wrapped it around my neck in a hurry. The moment I shifted back, I found myself naked and getting weak again but my steps didn't halt. That messy gown that I had been wearing was still on my neck and I wore it back while still pacing on my steps.I groaned at every step that I took, besides the pain in my throat and the aching in my head, I felt horrible as my bare foot touched the hard stony path. The burning sensation was throbbing and my heart thumped in an unsteady rhythm in my chest. But in my situation, pain is the least I can worry about.I took off into the dark and scary night of the forest where never in my wildest dreams I thought I would go one day.The darkness that I feared, the wildness that scared me was now nothing before me.My mind grappled for any location that might be safe. With every step feeling like walking on needles and blades, I ran in an erratic direction as the sharp grass blades penetrated my numb feet.I do not pause to gain my bearings, not even those pills that I take every day, the only thought in my mind right now is to put as much distance between myself and that hell hole as possible.Just run...! Every loop in my brain was suggesting only one thing. Run...!And I ran.Jumping through the dark bushes, the hem of my skirt caught on a lost branch. All I heard was the sound of my skirt ripping when a cold chill ran up my thigh.I didn't stop to check it though.I couldn't.When I saw behind for once, multiple shadows with red shining eyes were coming behind me, into the forest and that pushed me to continue running desperately.I have to Survive...!That was what Catherine wanted, as she chased me out of that hell. She wanted to save my life despite her life at stake."Catherine..." I whispered with tears in the corner of my eyes and clenched my teeth."I will survive... I will escape and live on... I promise...I will come back to look for you..."Thinking of her gave me the energy to continue but my hopes got crushed a second later."Aahh!"I didn't pay attention to the ground and knocked my foot into something so hard that it almost ripped through my bare foot. I winced in pain as I stumbled down to my knees and saw a large root craved like a sharp knife, above the ground which had mercilessly pierced through my skin.Agh.. Pain...!I didn't hesitate to stand up but the pain paralyzed my body at once. Was this the end of my escape?Am I going to get caught? I haven't been able to run far yet."No...! Please help me, moon goddess...!" I prayed. I don't know if the moon goddess does really exist but my Mom believed in her and so will I.Unable to stand up and run further, I couldn't just wait for those beasts to catch me and slaughter me.I couldn't help but tremble thinking what else they would do to me before shattering me into pieces."Argh...." A desperate cry left my mouth and tears blurred my vision when I forced myself to stand."Please help me...!" I sobbed, "Moon goddess...! Argh...!!The pain was horrible and made me cry bloodtears.I knew it was futile to plea because no one around me could help me. There was nothing but quietness as a response to my cries.Every passing second felt more horrifying than the previous one.I can't let Catherine's efforts, her life go in vain.I was on the edge of losing my hope in life but still unable to give up, I dragged my will back.I tore a slit from the gown I was wearing and wrapped it around my injured foot, along with some twigs. My knees trembled uncontrollably each time I tried to move and my heart raced, pounding painfully against my chest.Even my lungs were constricting from all the running I wasn't used to.I couldn't run anymore but I am glad that I can walk at least.I walked as far as I could, staggering into the forest and forcing myself towards the unknown. I heard some rustle, they were still following me, tracing my blood smell and I knew deep down that if get caught, Alpha Xian would drain each drop of my blood for himself.I can't get caught...!I started getting dizzy and not long ago, I bumped into something again and tripped falling behind. It won't take a second for my back to hit the rocky ground. Darkness engulfed my gaze and I couldn't move at all. It's all over.I met my doom. But instead of meeting the hard rocky land beneath me, I felt a pair of strong arms grabbing my dress and holding me up, a fear crept into my heart. Was that Alpha Xian or one of his men?As an answer to my fear, I sniffed a completely different scent. That scent of his was so pleasing despite my anguish. An annoyingly intoxicating minty scent filled the air around me like a spell. I gasped. As per I know, that scent was from an unmated wolf because I do not smell any female scent from him.He wasn't that monster, Alpha Xian for sure. This scent has a mesmerizing and equally soothing effect on me.I couldn't have enough of it despite sniffing crazily. I sniffed filling my lungs and mind with him. What kind of weird feeling is this?Though I couldn't see the man before me, I felt protected once his hands touched me.Mate bonding...!!Is this how we feel in a mate bonding? Or is this just my illusion? Is he my mate??All my puzzles came to an abrupt end when his husky baritone voice echoed in my ears,"Hey kid..."He said shaking me up from my wild dreams. That voice was the most delicious thing to my ears, a melody that instantly numbed all my pain."Hey...little thing..." he called again while patting my cheeks.I opened my eyes slowly and was met with the most captivating shimmering pair of grey eyes I had ever seen. The moonlight reflecting off of his face gave him a radiant appearance. His appearance is that of an angel.I tried to look deeper into the depths of his eyes, but my vision became fuzzy and my voice would not come out.A worried expression furrowed his brow as he gave me a bewildered look."Hey, kid," he called me once more.Kid...! Shouldn't he be calling me mate? And it was then that I recalled that even if I was seventeen, my body was not more than an eleven or twelve-year-old kid.I mean, how could he possibly imagine a mate getting close to a little child like me?He pulled me up and leaned in closer before I could close my eyes all the way again.I felt like a jerk all over my frail body, and I froze. I was shivering. What was he going to do?***************Author's point of view... The great palace of Panoma was adorned in splendour, its ancient walls draped with banners of gold and crimson, the colours of the royal family. The air buzzed with excitement as throngs of citizens from all corners of the kingdom gathered to witness the most significant event in decades, the three royal weddings. The atmosphere was electric, filled with joy and anticipation as the people came to bless the divine couples who would lead their kingdom into a new era. Adrian stood at the edge of the grand courtyard, watching as Aiden, Aaron, and their brides stood before the High Priestess, who presided over the ceremonies. Aiden, looked regal in his ceremonial attire, though there was a tension in his shoulders that only his brothers could see. Aaron, beside him, had an expression of quiet contentment, his eyes never straying far from Catherine, who stood gracefully by his side. The bond between them was palpable, a living testament to the power of
Author's point of view... The next day morning, Adrian received an invitation from his father. He gently informed Scarlett that they needed to attend a royal wedding at the palace. He was deliberately vague, not wanting to burden her with more information than necessary as he didn't know what exactly was happening at the palace. Perhaps selfishly avoiding the conversation that he knew might hurt her. She might not take it easy if he told her that Catherine was going to get married to his brother, the one who was insane a day before. Adrian hesitated. Scarlett, however, was already bracing herself for the worst. She heard the rumours from the members of the packhouse. The rumours said that after reaching the capital, Princess Alina would be married to Prince Adrian and deep down, she was certain that the wedding in question was Adrian’s. After all, who else but the future Alpha would be marrying Princess Alina? The thought of being a mere mistress to a married man filled her w
Author's point of view... When Scarlett woke up after a few hours, she found a familiar young boy standing at the door. Van stood in silence and was staring at her in disbelief. He looked shocked, surprised and bewildered at the same time. He heard that the little girl he met at the packhouse was Adrian's mate, it was already something that he couldn't believe. But when Dan told him that she was all grown up, Van laughed at him. He never in his dreams had ever imagined that she would be grown up so fast. After staring at her for a while, he snapped out of the maze as Scarlett threw a pillow on his face. "Weirdo...!" she shouted, "Take me to the packhouse" she demanded. Van was speechless. He nodded and escorted her to the penthouse instead of the packhouse as Adrian commanded him. He left her behind and reported it to Adrian . As everything was under control, Adrian arranged a place for Catherine to stay and left the packhouse under Dan's responsibility. Scarlet
Author's point of view... The moment Catherine stepped inside the pack house, a shift in the air was palpable. Aaron, who had been subdued and restrained, suddenly began thrashing against his bindings, his once lifeless eyes now burning with a wild intensity. His growls echoed through the halls, and it took several pack members, including Adrian’s younger brother Aiden, to hold him down long enough to tie him securely to his bed. Adrian, still reeling from the guilt of bringing Catherine here, was alarmed at Aaron’s sudden change. The witch doctor seemed unfazed, though, his focus solely on the task at hand. He ushered Catherine down the dimly lit corridor toward the chamber where the ritual was to take place. “I assure you,” the witch doctor murmured, his voice laced with a strange excitement, “this will only take a moment, and then we will know for certain the extent of your abilities.” Catherine nodded, trying to steady her nerves. She had agreed to help, convinced that
Author's point of view... Getting back to his apartment, Adrian entered his penthouse quietly, his mind heavy with the choices he had to make. The dim lighting cast long shadows across the walls, and the usually comforting silence felt suffocating. He glanced around the room, his eyes falling on Scarlett, who had fallen asleep on the couch in the hall instead of her room. Her petite frame was curled up, her chest rising and falling gently with each breath. For a moment, Adrian just stood there, watching her sleep. The innocence on her face, the peacefulness in her expression, it was a stark contrast to the turmoil raging inside him. He approached her slowly, his footsteps barely making a sound against the floor. As he got closer, the weight of his decisions pressed down on him even more. He knelt beside the couch, gently touched her hair, tucking them behind her ear. She looked so beautiful and his heart skipped a beat. "Will you hate me even more, tomorrow?" he mumbled to
Author's point of view... Adrian’s mind raced as he watched his father’s retreating figure. They were going towards the hidden wing, the place where Aaron was kept. The ultimatum hung over him like a death sentence, but it was the realization of what he had to do next that filled him with dread. His father’s fury was undeniable, and the witch doctor’s presence was a stark reminder of how serious the situation had become. There was no time left for half-measures or secret plans. Adrian clenched his fists, trying to push away the guilt that gnawed at him. He had vowed to protect Scarlett, to keep her safe from the dangers that came with her bloodline. The divine blood that flowed through her veins was not just rare, it was sacred, a gift and a curse in equal measure. Revealing it would paint a target on her back, one that he knew would bring nothing but danger. But as he sensed the impending doom hanging over his brother, he realized he had no choice. “Father, wait!” Ad
