Roan’s PoV

Is it wrong to feel jealous of a dead man?

The shadow of Leon Hawthorne lingered between us like an ever-present ghost.

To Brea, he had been her first love. Her safe place. Her ride or die.

But to me?

He was simply the man who failed her.

She was kidnapped under his watch, and he failed to eliminate the people responsible. Instead, he got himself killed.

Maybe that sounded cruel.

  • Alpha’s Little Plaything    108. Surrendering

Brea’s POV That afternoon, Roan and I sat in his office reviewing documents related to properties his mother had left to him and his sister. Stacks of contracts and deeds covered the massive mahogany desk between us. “Was your mother from my country?” I asked, noticing that most of the properties were located in New York. “Yes,” Roan replied, leaning back slightly in his chair. “Charlotte Fern was her maiden name. Later, she became Carlota Espineda.” “There’s still a lot under the Fern estate,” I observed as I reviewed another file. “Your mother kept a strong connection to her roots. The name change would be an issue, but not impossible to fix." “She did,” he said quietly, his voice softer than usual. “She loved Liandor… but part of her heart always belonged to her birth place.” I glanced up from the papers. The tenderness in his expression caught me off guard. It was strange seeing this side of him. The fierce Alpha King who could make an entire room tremble wi

Roan’s PoV Is it wrong to feel jealous of a dead man? The shadow of Leon Hawthorne lingered between us like an ever-present ghost. To Brea, he had been her first love. Her safe place. Her ride or die. But to me? He was simply the man who failed her. She was kidnapped under his watch, and he failed to eliminate the people responsible. Instead, he got himself killed. Maybe that sounded cruel. But that was how I saw it. Because while Brea is with me, no harm would ever come to her again. When she had been kidnapped as a baby, I was only seven years old. There was nothing I could have done then. But now? Now I was more than capable of protecting what's mine. ~~~~~ The helipad sat atop the castle. After landing, I escorted Brea into the elevator and down to the main floor. Pamela and Regina were already waiting for us. “Roan, son, we were expecting you last week,” Pamela said, kissing both my cheeks. Regina immediately wrapped herself around my arm and ki

  • Alpha’s Little Plaything    106. Guilty Emotions

Brea’s PoV Our breaths mingled as I held onto his biceps, my fingers tightening instinctively. He was wearing only his pants. His body was solid—hard, defined muscles and sculpted abs. His sun-kissed skin contrasted sharply with my pale one, where only my blood-red nails stood out against him. “Careful there,” he murmured, his voice low and rough, his eyes darkening. For a moment, I almost leaned in. Almost. But a sharp pain pierced through my chest. Leon. Shame flooded me. I loosened my grip and stepped back, creating space between us. Roan cleared his throat, just as affected. “Thank you, Roan,” I said quickly, trying to steady myself. “Your wolf is… incredibly big and handsome.” It wasn’t a lie. His wolf had been breathtaking—reddish fur that seemed to burn like fire, with deep, midnight-black eyes. “Likewise, princesa,” he replied softly. “I expected nothing less from you.” ~~~~~~~ That night, I slept better than I had in a long time. I video-called L

  • Alpha’s Little Plaything    105. Her Wolf

Roan’s POV The moment she stepped out of her room, it felt as if she had opened a portal to another realm. She was… breathtaking. My wolf stirred instantly, chest puffing with pride. He was already restless, eager to meet Brea’s wolf. It had to be magnificent—just like her. “Ready?” I asked, offering her my arm. She nodded, linking hers with mine. I didn’t miss the way she flushed, the slight tension in her posture. I affect her… just as much as she affects me. Still, I would take things slow. She was grieving. “I’m so glad they placed me close to you,” she said as we walked down the hall. “I might have gotten lost trying to find the dining room in this maze.” Her eyes wandered over the paintings, the tall windows, the endless stretch of corridors. “You’ll get used to it,” I said. “Soon enough, you’ll know this place like the palm of your hand.” I spoke with certainty. Because she would stay. The room placement had been no coincidence. I wanted her close—at a

  • Alpha’s Little Plaything    104. Roja Sangre Pack

Brea’s PoV Roan’s pack was massive, nestled deep within the wild forest. From the sky, the mansion at its center looked magnificent. The smaller houses scattered around it resembled pebbles against the vast wilderness. Roan and Dad had agreed it wasn’t safe to reveal my true identity, so I arrived as Brea Mae, attorney at law—not Princess Brea of Savery. “Watch your step,” Roan said as he helped me down from the jet. I wobbled slightly. I really shouldn’t have worn high heels—but they were practically all I owned. Roan chuckled, clearly catching on. “I’ll take you shopping for boots and sneakers in the nearby town,” he said. “His heated gaze ran traveled slowly over me. As great as you look in those heels, they’re not exactly made for this terrain.” I felt heat rise to my cheeks. I didn’t understand what was happening to me. I was used to compliments—men gave them freely—but where others annoyed me… Roan’s made me blush like a schoolgirl. A black SUV pulled up besid

  • Alpha’s Little Plaything    103. This Time I Won't Lose Her

Roan’s POV I was still venting at Aristes for not telling me he had found her. But the moment I saw her, all that anger vanished. She is… stunning. The kind of beauty that can’t be crafted or imitated—something you are simply born with. There’s a delicacy to her, an awestruck grace that draws you in effortlessly. And yet… her green eyes hold something else. Sadness. Not the fleeting kind—but something deeper. Something rooted so far within her soul it feels almost tangible. Someone hurt her. And when I find out who… they’ll wish they had never been born. “Tell me, Brea,” I said, my voice quieter now, a far contrast with the storm building inside me. “What happened to you?” Because goddess help me—my wolf and I were already crazy with the need to find whoever broke her… …and burn them to the grown. She looked at me—really looked at me—before answering. “I lost someone very important to me,” she said at last. “Yeah? Who, if I may ask?” “My mate.” Her voice b

Loriah’s POV Draco’s arm tightened around my waist as the music swelled, pulling me flush against him. His scent—dark, woodsy, achingly familiar—wrapped around me like a spell, making it impossible to think straight. Even though my heels, my forehead only reached his chin; I felt small and safe ye

Draco’s PoV Greg was already there when the paramedics rushed Loriah into the ER. I tried to follow, but the doors slammed shut in my face, the red No Entry sign glowing like fire against my chest. “Wait outside, sir!” a nurse barked, shoving me back. My hands went to my hair, then my face, d

Brea’s POV When I woke up, the first people I saw were a man and a woman. They looked to be in their forties, their faces etched with concern. I shot upright, fear gripping my chest—until I recognized the room. I was back at Draco’s pack. The woman approached me slowly, tears streaming down h

Loriah’s PoV I looked at Brea, who had finally fallen asleep. She was exhausted. She hadn’t slept much since she was taken, only feeling safe enough to rest after I arrived. A stern-looking woman had brought us food at least twice. It seemed safe to eat. I’d offered some to Brea before she drifted
