44. A Father's Perspective

As he drove towards the university, his mind veered back to the sudden phone call Erica received from her parents. I hope nothing serious has happened; he thought. Leikos remained silent. Ava was supposed to visit today and the woman whom he had once looked forward to spending time with, now seemed nagging. He sighed, he wasn't thrilled with the turn of events. Ava was his best friend, and she had been by his side through the hardest time and he owed it to her.

Or was it an obligation for what she had gone through because of him? What she had lost all those years ago?

Ava was waiting for him in his office. Her demeanour was haughty and when she glanced at him, her gaze shot daggers. He raised an eyebrow, "Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed it seems". He kept his tone as casual as possible. He took a seat before asking, "So...what brings you here?"

"Can't I visit my best friend if I want to?" she huffed, crossing her arms in front of her chest. He shook his head,
