The rain starts pouring. It hit the large glass window all through the day, making a steady, heavy sound that felt like small stones hitting the wall. Elena stayed on the bed for a long time. Her toes were completely cold, and the gray blanket felt rough against her chin. The room was getting darker, and the smell of old wood and wet dirt from outside was getting thicker.

Marcus came up around noon. He did not say anything to her. He just dropped a small pile of dry wood near the iron stove, his boots making a loud noise on the floor. He used a cheap plastic lighter to start a small fire. The wood smelled sharp and sweet when it burned, but it did not make the room feel much warmer. The cold air seemed to come right through the thick glass.

"Julian says you need to eat," Marcus said before he left. He pointed at the cold breakfast biscuit that was still sitting on the wooden crate. "If you don't eat, he gets mad. And when he gets mad, nobody stays happy."

Elena did not answer him. She just looked at the wall. After Marcus went out and the three deadbolts clicked into place, she got off the bed and walked to the window. The world outside was just gray smoke and deep green trees. She could see the muddy track that led down the hill, but it looked very long and very lonely.

She felt a strange, tight feeling in her stomach. It was not just hunger. It was a deep, empty ache that had been growing since they left the city. She started counting the days on her fingers, but her mind felt muddy. It felt like she had just met Julian a few weeks ago, three weeks of dinners, of soft music, of sitting for his charcoal sketches before he brought her here. But then she thought of her college classes. She had missed the midterms. She had missed the finals. The trees outside the city loft had been green when he first took her hand, and now the leaves down in the valley were dead and brown.

*How long have I been in this room?* she thought, a sudden wave of panic hitting her chest. Julian had been giving her those herbal teas every night to help her sleep when they were still in the city. She had trusted him. But now, looking at her dirty cuticles and her worn green sweater, she realized pieces of the calendar were completely missing from her head.

Around three o'clock, she heard the sound of a truck engine. It was loud and rough, shaking the gravel in the driveway downstairs. Elena pressed her face against the cold glass of the window, looking down through the gray mist.

A big red truck had stopped next to Julian’s car. The passenger door opened, and a woman stepped out into the rain. She was wearing a long yellow rain jacket, but her hair was bright red, tied back tightly with a piece of dark tape. It was Lilith. Elena remembered her from the big art show in the city. Lilith had stood in the back of the room, watching Julian with sharp, dark eyes, never smiling at the people who came to buy the paintings.

Lilith did not look at the front door. She stopped in the middle of the gravel driveway and looked straight up at the second-floor windows. Elena quickly stepped back into the dark corner of the room, her heart jumping against her ribs. She did not think Lilith could see her through the dark glass, but the way the red-haired woman turned her head made her feel completely naked.

A few minutes later, the heavy front door downstairs opened and shut with a loud bang.

The house was built with a lot of iron and concrete, so every sound moved up through the floors. Elena crept toward the wooden door of her room, pressing her ear against the crack. The hallway outside was cold and dark, but she could hear the voices from the main room clearly.

"You took too long, Julian," Lilith said. Her voice was smooth but very sharp, like the small knives Julian used to scrape dry paint off his palette. "Thomas was already talking to the city people this morning. He thinks you are getting soft because of your little human toy."

"The papers are signed months ago, Lilith," Julian’s deep voice came back. He sounded tired, his words slow and heavy. "Thomas has the eastern blocks. The ridge stays mine. That was the bet."

"The bet was for five months, Julian! You kept her hidden in this house for six!" Lilith’s boots made a sharp, fast sound on the concrete floor below, like she was walking back and forth in anger. "You are playing a dangerous game. She has been missing from that university for half a year now. You told the council you only needed five months to fix her scent and finish the trade, but you stayed in this house with her for an extra four weeks! You also drugged her tea!"

Elena felt the floor tilt beneath her bare feet. *Six months.* She had been trapped, drugged, and hidden away for half a year, thinking it had only been a matter of weeks. The sweetness, the dinners, the quick romance, it was all a trap to keep her compliant while the calendar rolled over.

"The portrait is not finished, drugging her is the only option as she tried to escaped many times." Julian said, his voice dropping into that flat, hard tone that meant he was done talking. "I need the hands. The scent shift on the river road took longer than I planned."

"The lines don't hold because you're obsessed," Lilith laughed, a short, ugly sound. "You look at her like she is something real, Julian. She is just a human girl from the college. Her blood is thin and quiet. She is nothing."

"She is in the end room," Julian said. "She does not go outside. Marcus is watching the track."

"Marcus is a fool," Lilith said, her voice suddenly changing. It became lower, sweeter, and much closer to the stairs. "Why don't you look at something that belongs to you? Something that has real wolf blood? You don't want a quiet little rabbit who cries when you touch her hand. You want someone who can bite back."

Elena heard a sharp gasp, then the sound of clothing being pulled away quickly. The metal stairs let out a small, low groan as if someone was leaning heavily against the railing.

She could not stop herself. Her feet moved without her permission, her bare toes making no sound on the old floorboards as she stepped out into the dark hallway. The yellow lamps were not on, so the hall was full of long, blue shadows. She crawled down to the edge of the iron balcony, peering down through the black metal bars.

The main room was bright from the gray light coming through the big windows. Julian was standing near the steel table, but he did not have his leather jacket on anymore. Lilith was pressed right up against him, her yellow rain coat thrown on the floor, her red hair loose and wild around her shoulders. Her shirt was half-open, her pale skin looking bright against Julian’s dark wool sweater.

She was kissing his neck, her hands digging into his thick shoulders with long, sharp nails. Julian had his large arms wrapped around her waist, lifting her up off the concrete floor until her legs were wrapped around his hips. His face was buried in her red hair, his breathing coming out in loud, heavy pants that sounded like an animal running through the brush.

"Tell me she is nothing," Lilith groaned, her head tilting back as Julian bit down on her shoulder. She let out a wild, loud laugh that echoed through the whole empty house. "Tell me you don't care about her eyes!"

"She is nothing," Julian growled. His voice was rough, full of a strange, wild heat that Elena had never heard before. He pushed Lilith down onto the long steel table, the papers they had signed this morning scattering across the polished floor like dead leaves.

The sound of their bodies hitting the steel table was loud and brutal. Julian did not move with the slow, careful grace he used when he was painting. He was fast, rough, and violent, his large hands ripping at Lilith’s clothes until her bare back was flat against the cold metal. Lilith did not cry out in pain; she let out a long, high shriek of pleasure, her fingers scratching deep red lines across Julian’s chest as he pulled his shirt over his head.

Elena sat on the cold floor of the balcony, her hand pressed hard over her mouth. The tears came out of her eyes fast and hot, burning her cheeks, but she did not make a single sound. Her heart felt like it was breaking into small, sharp pieces of glass inside her chest.

She had to watch. She could not look away even though every touch made her stomach twist with a sickening pain. She saw the way Julian held Lilith’s waist, his thick fingers leaving dark red marks on her skin. She saw the way Lilith smiled up at the ceiling, her teeth showing, her eyes bright and wild with a deep, wolfish pride. They looked like they belonged to the same dark world, a world of teeth, blood, and heavy rain that Elena could never understand.

"More," Lilith gasped, her legs tightening around his back, her hips moving with a wild, fast rhythm against him. "Make me forget the city, Julian! Make me forget the girl!"

Julian did not say her name. He just let out a deep, animal roar from his throat, his whole body shaking as he pressed Lilith down into the steel table, his movements fast and hard like a storm hitting the trees.

The constriction was too much for Julian to bear. With a low, lustful roar, he buried himself inside Lilith to the hilt, his entire body going rigid as he flooded her with thick, burning heat, riding out the waves of his own explosive release until they were both trembling, completely spent in the quiet aftermath of the storm.

The fire inside them still burning. Lilith wasn't one to remain passive for long; her werewolf nature thrived on the thrill of the chase, the heat of dominance, and an insatiable appetite.

Looking up at Julian with a slow, predatory smile, she slipped off the edge of the table. Her movements were fluid and deliberately slow, a calculated tease meant to test the limits of his remaining restraint. She dropped to her knees on the thick rug right in front of him, her gaze fixed entirely on his dick, completely unbothered by her own vulnerability. In fact, she looked entirely in control.

"You didn't honestly think you were finished with me, did you?" she murmured, her voice a low, honeyed purr that vibrated in the quiet room.

Julian’s breath hitched, his hands resting on the edge of the table behind him as he looked down at her. The air between them instantly charged again, the heavy atmosphere of the room thickening with renewed tension. Lilith reached out, her fingers tracing a slow, deliberate path up his torso, her touch light but heavy with intent, deliberately provoking the primal instinct they both shared. She knew exactly what she was doing, using every ounce of her charm to drive him right back to the edge.

Julian’s grip on the edge of the table tightened, his knuckles turning white as he fought to hold her gaze. The predatory glint in Lilith’s eyes was intoxicating, a challenge that went straight to his wolf's core.

"You're playing a dangerous game, Lilith," he rasped, his voice darker, thicker than before.

She let out a soft, mocking laugh against his skin, her hands moving higher to rest on his hips, anchoring him in place. She leaned closer, her breath hot against him, deliberately testing his boundaries, and started licking and kissing the tip of the head. "I don't remember asking for safety, Julian. I want to see exactly how much it takes to break that rigid composure of yours."

With a slow, deliberate movement, she shifted her weight, her touch becoming bolder, faster, and more possessive as she tracked the sudden, sharp intake of his breath. She knew the power she held over him, the way her proximity alone could command his pulse to race, the way her hands getting back on his shaft and stroking it faster and faster, while her mouth playing and sucking it leaving her saliva behind. Her eyes never left his, wide and unblinking, filled with a wicked amusement that demanded his total attention.

The sheer audacity of her gaze, combined with the raw, heavy heat pooling between them once more, snapped Julian's fraying patience. He reached down, his fingers tangling firmly in her hair, not to push her away, but to force her head back so he could read every single shifting emotion on her face.

"You want to see me break?" he whispered, his body leaning into her space, his pulse hammering against her fingertips. "Careful what you wish for.”

Lilith didn’t flinch at the sudden firmness of his grip. Instead, her smile widened, a sharp, flashing display of canine teeth that signaled her absolute delight in the escalation. She leaned into the pressure of his hand, tilting her chin up to meet his dark, demanding glare.

"Show me," she challenged softly, her voice dripping with playful defiance. "Show me what happens when you stop holding back.Show me that you're mine alone."

The words had barely left her lips before Julian acted. In a single, fluid motion, he hauled her up from the floor, his strength effortless and absolute. He spun her around, pinning her back against the table. The sudden shift in momentum left Lilith breathless, her back arching against the table as Julian crowded into her space, his heavy chest pressing against hers.

The playful taunting vanished, replaced by a raw, mutual hunger that neither of them could ignore. Julian’s hands slid down to grip her waist, lifting her effortlessly to meet him. When he drove forward inside her dripping wet entrance, the impact was hard and uncompromising, a fierce reclamation of control that made Lilith gasp aloud, her fingers instantly clawing at his shoulders for balance.

"Is this what you wanted?" Julian growled against her jaw, his rhythm immediate and demanding, striking deep with every heavy surge.

"Yes," Lilith choked out, her head tossing back as the overwhelming heat returned tenfold. The teasing game was over, dissolved in the friction of a relentless, frantic pace that threatened to consume them both.

Julian didn't give her a chance to catch her breath, his movements turning heavy and unyielding as he drove the pace forward. He anchored her hips against the edge of the table, every relentless thrust sending a shudder through the table. The playful defiance in Lilith’s eyes completely dissolved, replaced by a glazed, overwhelmed stare as she gripped his upper arms, trying to anchor herself against the sheer force of his momentum.

"Julian….fuuuccckkkk" her voice broke, the name turning into a breathy whine as the intense, friction-filled heat built rapidly between them.

He didn't answer with words, only a low, primal sound deep in his chest that echoed her wolf's instinct. He buried his face in the crook of her neck, kissing, licking, biting it, and inhaling the sharp, intoxicating scent of her skin as he quickened his rhythm, pushing them both harder and deeper toward the edge, while he's hand hardly cupping her breast, leaving a red mark. The entire house seemed to narrow down to the frantic sound of their breathing and the heavy, synchronized thud of his hips slamming against hers.

Lilith’s legs tightened around his waist, pulling him in even closer, desperate to close any remaining distance. She was completely at his mercy now, her body trembling as the internal tension wound up to an unbearable pitch.

The heavy silence of the hallway made every sound from the house brutally clear.

Elena was still there, paralyzed. Her fingers were pressed hard against her trembling lips, trying to stifle the ragged gasps that threatened to give her away. She wanted to run. Every instinct screamed at her to turn around, to flee into the dark estate and bury herself away from this nightmare. But her body felt like lead, rooted to the spot by a cruel, mesmerizing agony.

She couldn't stop watching.

The tears wouldn't stop. They spilled over her cheeks hot and fast, dripping onto her collarbone, a physical manifestation of her heart breaking into a million jagged pieces. Every time Lilith cried out his name, every time Julian’s heavy breathing echoed in the quiet space, it felt like a physical blow to Elena's chest.

The wild, wet sounds of their lovemaking filled the entire house, bouncing off the white plaster walls and the gray concrete floors. It went on for a long time, minutes that felt like hours to Elena as she sat in the dark hallway, her knees pulled tightly to her chest, her whole body trembling with a cold, dead certainty.

Everything had been a lie. The studio in the city, the soft music, the fake sweetness, it was just a six-month game to win a piece of land. He did not love her. He did not even see her as a real person. She was just a quiet human girl he could drug and lock in a room until the lines on his canvas looked right.

With a sudden, powerful surge, Julian drove into Lilith one last time, his muscles locking tight as a ragged growl tore from his throat. The sudden, intense friction sent Lilith over the precipice, her walls clamping around him in a tight, desperate release that caught his own climax, leaving them both breathless and shaking against the table.

After a long time, the loud sounds downstairs slowed down. Julian let out one last, heavy groan, his forehead resting against Lilith’s wet shoulder as they lay together on the messy steel table. The rain outside seemed to get louder in the silence that followed, a steady, gray hiss through the oaks.

Elena stood up slowly, her legs shaking so much she had to hold onto the plaster wall to keep from falling. She did not look down again. She walked back down the dark hallway, her bare feet cold against the wood, and slid back into the end room, pulling the door shut until the brass latch clicked.

She threw herself onto the rough wool blanket, burying her face in her arms. She cried until her throat felt like it was on fire, her chest sobbing so hard it hurt her ribs. She felt completely small, dirty, and alone in the big concrete house.

Six hours later, the deadbolts on her door turned. *One. Two. Three.*

Elena did not move from the bed. She kept her face turned toward the dark glass window, her eyes dry and red now, her heart feeling like a cold stone under her sweater.

Julian walked into the room. He smelled of the rain, the sharp alcohol he liked to drink, and the heavy, sweet scent of Lilith’s hair. He had put his dark wool sweater back on, but his hair was still wild and damp around his face. He did not look at her eyes; he just walked over to the mattress and stood over her, his large shadow blocking out the red light from the wood stove.

"Get up," he said. His voice was flat again, the wild growl from downstairs completely gone.

Elena did not move. "I'm tired, Julian."

He did not argue with her. He reached down and grabbed her by the waist, lifting her off the mattress with one arm. He threw her back onto the middle of the bed, his large body coming down over her before she could even twist away. His hands were heavy and hot, his fingers digging into her wrists as he pinned her arms against the rough wool blanket.

"Julian, please," she whispered, her voice dead and flat. She did not fight him. She knew it was no use. If she fought, he would just hold her tighter until she stopped moving. "Don't do this tonight."

"You are my woman, Elena," he said, his breath warm against her cheek. It smelled of that sharp liquor and the wild forest. "You live in my house now. You do what I say."

He did not wait for her to say anything else. He pulled her leggings down with one rough jerk, his large hand pressing hard against her hip bone until she let out a small gasp of pain. He did not kiss her lips tonight; he just buried his face in the side of her neck, his sharp teeth scraping against her skin until she felt a tiny drop of blood run down her collarbone.

He took her quickly, his body moving with a heavy, forceful rhythm that did not care about her pain or her tears. Elena kept her eyes wide open, staring past his dark shoulder at the gray scratch she had made on the window glass with her mother’s clock. She did not feel the heat of his skin anymore; she just felt a cold, deep numbness spreading from her stomach all the way down to her toes.

She let her mind go away from the room. She thought about Clara sitting in the clinic, writing notes on her charts with her blue pen. She thought about the old library at the college, where the windows were high and the books smelled of old paper and dust. She thought about the bus ride she used to take every Friday to see her grandmother in the valley, the way the green fields looked when the sun came up through the mist.

Julian let out a short, heavy breath against her ear, his whole body going stiff for a second before he relaxed, his weight pressing her deep into the mattress. He stayed there for a minute, his breathing slowing down, his large hand still wrapped around her wrist like an iron chain.

Then he got up. He pulled his clothes back together without looking at her face, his heavy boots making a loud noise as he walked toward the door.

"Marcus will bring up some water later," he said, his hand on the brass latch. "Eat the biscuit, Elena. The show is in two weeks, and I need the skin on your throat to look clean."

The door shut. The deadbolts turned. *One. Two. Three.*

Elena lay on the rough blanket for a long time, the cold air from the window hitting her bare legs. She did not pull her clothes up right away. She just stared at the ceiling, her fingers closing tightly around the small metal strip she had hidden in the pocket of her sweater, the sharp, gray needle from her mother’s silver clock.

She was not going to die here. She was not going to stay in this concrete room until her blood went thin and her eyes went dark. She would wait until the rain stopped, until Julian and Marcus were asleep down below, and then she would find the code for the front door or she would break the glass with the heavy iron stove.

She looked down at her stomach, her hand tracing the smooth skin under her sweater. The small, warm feeling was still there, deep inside her body, a tiny, secret pulse that Julian could not see with his dark, golden eyes. She did not know what it was, but it felt strong, stronger than the iron stairs or the concrete walls, and it was the only thing she had left to keep her alive in the dark.

The heavy glass doors of the grand hotel did not merely open; they shuddered under the brute force of Julian’s entry. He lunged into the sterile, white-marbled lobby like a predatory beast flushed from the underbrush. The freezing city rain rolled in thick, steaming streams down his face and soaked his leather jacket, dripping onto the pristine floor. His golden eyes, bloodshot and wild, swept the vast room. He wasn't tracking a mystical mate bond, the heavens had never granted him that mercy. He was tracking a scent he had memorized during the dark, horrific months he had kept her locked away on the mountain. It was the scent of wild mint, clean canvas, and the cheap, heavy sedative tea he had used to strip her of her senses."Sir! You cannot be in here!" A uniform-clad security guard stepped forward, his hand reaching for his belt, but he froze the instant Julian’s gaze locked onto him.The sheer, oppressive weight of Julian’s Alpha aura slammed into the human, stalling the air in t

The silence that followed the phone call was heavier than the storm clawing at the glass.Elena set her phone down on the polished mahogany desk, her fingers lingering on the dark screen for a fraction of a second before she withdrew them. The device lay still, a quiet black rectangle in a sea of highlighted land maps, bank routing sheets, and legal notices. Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows of the penthouse suite, the coastal city was a blurred canvas of charcoal grey and neon amber. The rain washed over the towering concrete monoliths of the financial district, turning the world below into a shifting, liquid maze. She walked to the window, her bare feet silent on the thick Persian rug. In the dark reflection of the glass, her silver eyes burned with a steady, cold light, no longer the soft, frightened irises of the nineteen-year-old girl who had been chased into the dark depths of the Whispering Woods, but the piercing, sovereign gaze of a queen who had mastered the shadows."Ele

The cold glass of the downtown hotel room pressed against Elena’s forehead, but she didn't feel the chill. Her silver eyes tracked the tiny, insect-like movements of the black cars navigating the wet streets fifty floors below.Tomorrow, she would formally step into the city council chambers. Tomorrow, the name Vance Global Holdings would snap like a trap around Julian’s throat. But tonight, as the city rain smeared the high glass windows into streaks of grey grease, her mind drifted backward. The high-end white business suit she wore felt like a heavy piece of armor, a stark contrast to the skin and mud that had shaped her for seven years. Seven years did not just pass. They had to be carved out of the black marrow of the Whispering Woods, one agonizing memory at a time. The first winter had been a test of basic physics. In her memory, the smell of fresh mountain fish and wet pine was suffocatingly clear. Elena remembered sitting on the floor of the subterranean vault, her fingers c

The silver eyes did not move closer. They hung in the absolute blackness of the thicket like two cold stars, perfectly fixed on Elena’s stomach.Beneath her palms, the internal furnace grew hotter. The rapid triplet of pulses, *thump-thump-thump*, was hammering so hard against her ribs that her entire body shook with the rhythm. The gray fog of Julian’s tea was completely gone now. Her mind was perfectly clear, and the realization was a heavy weight in her chest: she was carrying his heirs, three tiny lives hidden away from his pack for six long months. The low vibration in the ground beneath her head grew stronger. Slowly, the dark shape behind the silver eyes began to pull itself out of the deep brush.Elena braced herself to scream. She expected a monster, a savage rogue wolf from the deep waste, or perhaps Julian himself, having bypassed the ancient trees. But as the creature stepped onto the soft moss where she lay, the deep silence of the forest seemed to wrap around them like a

The silence of the Whispering Woods did not just swallow Elena; it severed something vital right out of Julian’s chest. He stood entirely naked from the waist up on the border of the valley flats, the freezing mountain drizzle plastering his dark hair to his skull. His skin was hot, smoking slightly where the rain hit his shoulders, a residual byproduct of the forced, half-completed shift back into his human form. His fingers still twitched, the nails thick and sharp, aching to bury themselves into the throat of whatever ancient power had just slammed the door in his face."Alpha..." Marcus’s voice was a strained, low whine from the mud behind him.The gray wolf had managed to tear himself free from the root, but his left foreleg was tucked tightly against his chest, leaking dark, thick blood where the black stones had sheared through his pelt. The water in the drainage canal did not just run cold; it ran with the weight of the mountain behind it.Elena kept her right hand flattened over her abdomen, where a strange, heavy furnace was burning through the chill. She didn't understand it yet, not fully. She didn't know that three tiny, royal hearts were beating in unison deep within her pelvic bowl. Because of the specialized, numbing suppressants Julian had brewed into her tea every night for six months, the embryos had remained in a compact, incredibly dense metabolic state deep within her tummy. Her abdomen remained flat, showing no outward sign of life, and the heavy herbal elements had completely masked the biological shift, rendering the pregnancy entirely invisible to even the sharpest werewolf nose.Julian had no idea. Lilith had no idea. To the entire Crimson Moon Pack, she was just a fragile, empty human girl. But back in the examination room, when the doctor mentioned her blood thickening and fighting off a systemic
