Chapter 36

My heart leaped to my mouth. I was so scared. I was assaulted the last time somebody grabbed me like that. The man must’ve noticed the fear in my face because he apologized, before leaning towards me again. “There are many of us who support you.”

“Wh–what?” I was panting and I couldn’t calm myself. I saw black dots dancing around my vision and my ears were ringing. My stomach hurt like hell, too. Was I having a panic attack?

“You don’t like occults, too, right?” Loughty was oblivious to what was happening to me. “We hate them. I hate them. I’d rather die than let an occult lead this nation.”

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. My heart fluttered at the sound of disgust in the man’s voice, but I did not let it show. After a whole day of people being nothing but nasty to me, it was like a breath of fresh air. However, it felt too good to be true. This was the person who refused to change my roommate because he was blindly following the king’s orders.
