I drove straight to Carlton’s Underground house. The night was cold as I rode through Carlton’s estate, my pulse quickening with every step. I shouldn’t be here. Ava’s voice echoed in my mind. But I couldn’t sit idle, not when everything felt wrong. Not when Carlton’s sudden generosity , giving me a “vacation” and keeping Ava out of reach stank of manipulation.

I reached the edge of the compound, where the land dipped low. My boots crunched softly on the gravel as I walked. The night was still, unnervingly so. Even the guards, usually posted at every turn, were absent or hidden. The air was filled with something dark, dread thick enough to choke on.

I crept toward the entrance, a reinforced steel door half-concealed by rock and brush. Voices drifted from within. I recognized Carlton’s at once, sharp, venom-laced, commanding the kind of fear that made men forget their own names.

And then I heard Ava. Her voice, cracking with panic. “Father, don’t do this. Please. He…he didn’

Elvira’s POV The night felt longer than usual, the wind hollow as it swept through the trees outside my window. Sleep wouldn’t come. It hadn’t come in days. I lay on my side, staring at the shadows on the far wall, counting the seconds between the beats of my heart. But it wasn’t the sleeplessness that made me feel hollow. It was the visions. The ones that started as dreams, now crept into my waking hours like poison. And tonight, it was worse. I closed my eyes to sleep. The room faded, swallowed by darkness. And then, fire. A roaring blaring fire. I stood at the center of it all, untouched by the heat. Before me rose a throne, if you could call it that, a monstrous thing made of bones, twisted together, their ends jagged, their surfaces stained dark. Skulls adorned the top like a crown, hollow eye sockets watching me. Around the base, wolves. Towering wolves, their fur so black it seemed to swallow the firelight. They stood still, heads lowered in submission. Their white eyes

Deric’s POV I stood on the edge of the clearing, hidden by the trees, watching the glow of Carlton’s campfire flicker in the dark. His men moved like shadows, their voices low murmurs carried on the wind. Ava had stood in business that night callan died, telling me to leave and refusing to tell me what happened and why callan had to die. I looked around now. Ava was somewhere in that camp. I could smell her, faint traces of her scent on the breeze, mingled with cigarette smoke. My wolf strained against me, ears pinned, teeth clenched. Every instinct in me wanted to tear through that camp, rip Carlton apart, and carry her away. But I didn’t move. Because she was the only reason I hadn’t done exactly that. If I made one wrong move, he’d punish her. And I couldn’t risk that. I forced myself forward, boots crunching the undergrowth grass as I approached the camp. Two of Carlton’s guards stepped into my path, guns at the ready. “Easy,” I muttered, raising my hands. “He’s expecting

Jaxon’s POV The first thing I noticed was how empty the room felt. She was there, across the space, sitting by the window, the late afternoon sun gilding her dark hair in molten gold, but it was like looking at a ghost. Elvira. Mine. Or at least, she used to be. I watched her from the doorway, unnoticed. She had become so good at not seeing me. Her fingers toyed with the edge of a book she wasn’t reading, her gaze fixed on the ground beneath her. I wondered what she saw out there that kept her anchored, because it sure as hell wasn’t me. It hadn’t been me for weeks. She had changed.More confident. She carried herself with that effortless grace that once had me breathless, but now, it felt mean. I drew a breath, stepped inside. “Elvira.” Her shoulders stiffened, but she didn’t turn. “Elvira, can we talk?” She didn’t move. I crossed the room, slow, like approaching a wild creature I didn’t want to spook. “Please.” Finally, she looked at me. And gods, the look in her eyes—I

Cassian’s POV The phone buzzed on my nightstand, its glow the only light in the dark. I almost ignored it, just another late-night problem I didn’t want to deal with. But then I saw the name. Ava….we haven’t seen each other for years. I snatched it up, heart pounding. “Ava?” All I heard at first was breathing, shallow, and uneven. “Ava, what is it?” “Cassian—” Her voice cracked on my name. “You have to come. Now. Please.” That fear—real fear—made my blood run cold. “Where are you?” I was already yanking on my jacket. “At home. But don’t—” The line went dead. … The night air hit me like ice as I ran to my bike. The engine roared as I sped off, the road a blur beneath me. What did he do this time? What did I let happen by staying away? I’d kept my distance from Carlton because that man was everything I hated. But Ava, Ava never asked for help unless it was bad. And I’d ignored the summons earlier, that cold note delivered by his messenger: “Your presence is expected. To

Ronan Days had passed and I recalled everything Lila said and no matter how much I tried to deny it. Lila words made sense. Celina and Jaxon's sibling relationship has always been strained in a way, so if she’s planning something I wouldn’t be surprised. She’s Kairo's twin afterall. The night wind bit cold against my skin as I leaned over the edge of the library’s rooftop. I had been frequenting here, hoping to see Lila and apologize. The whole forest stretched beneath me like a dark, endless sea. The moon was swollen tonight, its silver light catching the mist curling through the trees, casting shadows that danced like ghosts. I gripped the iron railing so hard my knuckles ached, hoping the sting would tether me to reason. “Of all the places to brood, you chose here.” Her voice , soft, almost amused, cut through my thoughts. I didn’t have to turn. I knew that voice, the way it curled around me, dangerous as a snare. “What do you want, Lila?” My words came out rough, edged with w
