Elvira

I stared at Alpha Jaxon's jacket lying crumpled on the floor, its presence a reminder of the man who left it behind. The royal tailor had left after taking my measurements. The rich scent of tobacco and something uniquely him still clung to the fabric, teasing my senses and muddling my thoughts. With a frustrated sigh, I bent down, snatched it up, and shoved it into the back of the wardrobe, out of sight but not quite out of mind.

"Brielle," I called, my voice sharper than intended.

She appeared in the doorway almost instantly, her ever-present smile faltering at my tone. "Yes, Elvira?"

"Could you help me change the sheets, please?"

Her brow knitted in confusion. "But they were just changed two days ago."

"I know," I replied, forcing a tight smile. "But I'd like fresh ones."

She hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Of course. Give me a minute."

True to her word, Brielle returned shortly with a set of crisp linens. Together, we stripped the bed and replaced the sheet

Ronan The rain had returned, heavy and chilly, falling like knives against the windows of the council area. I stood beneath the overhang corridor, the only place where the cameras didn’t reach, checking my watch for the fifth time. She was late. Lila emerged from the shadows with the grace of a predator, heels silent, umbrella forgotten, her coat soaked to the elbows. Her eyes were cool as frost and just as unfeeling. “You picked the most inconvenient corner of the entire estate,” she said, stopping just far enough away to show she wasn’t here to be friendly. “You took a while though,” I said simply. “I was busy with something. I wanted to see how far this will rattle Jaxon.” I held her gaze. “You’re good at pretending this isn’t affecting you.” “Because it isn’t,” she replied flatly. “Not the way it’s affecting you.” “Elvira is gone. Along with Callan. Brielle. Vanished without a trace.” “And you think I had something to do with it?” she asked, her voice calm, almost amused

Jaxon The box sat in the center of my desk. Wrapped in a matte-black paper with a blood-red ribbon that someone took their damn time tying. I stared at it for the longest time. My name wasn’t even on it, but I knew it was meant for me. With steady fingers, I untied the ribbon and lifted the lid. Inside was a single cream envelope, light and embossed. Kailuxe’s insignia glinted in gold foil, two dragons wrapped around a serpent. A gala invitation. My pulse kicked. There was no message, no name, but I didn’t need one. This was his way of saying, Come find me. And I would. … It didn’t take much effort to get through the doors of Kailuxe. They knew who I was. Cameras flashed as soon as my boots hit the marble floor, each step echoing louder than the music drifting through the glass atrium. Walking inside, crystals dangled like icicles from the ceiling, casting blurry rainbows across the polished floors. Waiters moved quickly, offering expensive champagne and slivers of steak on gold

Jaxon I couldn’t breathe. Not in the way a man takes shallow gasps after running. This was worse. Like the oxygen had been sucked out of my body and left me standing in a void of silence and panic. Elvira. Brielle. Callan. All missing. My fingers dug into the edge of the conference table as I leaned over it, jaw locked, trying to make sense of the reports flooding in. “We’ve searched everywhere . No signs of forced entry, no broken windows. Nothing.” Marcus, one of the pack detectives, stood stiffly, avoiding my eyes. “We checked the garage too, Callan’s motorcycle is still gone.” I nodded once, barely. “What about Elvira’s phone?” “We traced the last ping,” he said. “The signal bounced off a network tower outside city limits. Near Kailuxe’s satellite facility.” I looked up at that. “Kailuxe?” My voice was low, dangerous. He nodded slowly. “It’s one of Kairo’s private tech zones. No access unless you’ve got internal clearance.” I clenched my jaw. Kairo. That bastard’s name k

Elvira The market buzzed with energy, laughter here and there, music, and bargaining voices. Bright fabrics fluttered like butterflies from their hanging racks, and the warm scent of roasted chestnuts filled the air, sweet and earthy. Brielle tugged my arm, dragging me between stalls while I struggled to focus. She was talking, fast and excited, like always, but my mind drifted with every object that caught my eye. “Look, look at that necklace!” I pointed, eyes wide. “And that bag, oh! I want it all.” “You always say that,” Brielle chuckled, flipping her braid over one shoulder. “Pick one. Or three. Your man’s rich, remember?” I laughed softly, but the warmth in my chest faltered. Jaxon’s face flashed in my mind, his worried expression, the way he tried to hide it. I hadn’t heard from him since early this morning. Guilt tickled the edge of my thoughts, but I shoved it down. We stopped near a row of accessory stalls. Colorful scarves danced in the wind, and rings glittered in tray

Jaxon Two hours later, we reached the pack gates. As soon as the guards saw our vehicle approaching, the doors creaked open without hesitation. They didn’t question my return, but my gut twisted with a sense that nothing about this trip would be as smooth. Ronan drove past the familiar pathways quickly. The sun barely shined, casting long shadows over the garden trails. Something in me churned, the kind of disturbing discomfort you feel when a storm is coming. I sat back in the leather seat, the weight in my chest pressing down hard. That’s when it hit me, I hadn’t even told Ronan the most critical detail of that earlier call. I turned to him abruptly. “I forgot to mention something,” I said. He raised an eyebrow, eyes flicking between the road and me. “What?” “When I called Callan earlier… he didn’t pick up.” “That’s not exactly shocking. You already said that.” “No,” I said, more firmly this time. “He didn’t pick up… but someone did. Kairo picked.” The car veered slightly b

Jaxon The engine purred beneath us as Ronan drove us out of the city. I had informed him after the call and we drove straight to the countryside. Rain streaked the windshield in silver lines, a perfect mirror of the storm twisting inside my chest. I sat in the passenger seat, staring out at the blurring trees, arms folded, my leg bouncing restlessly. “I can’t believe he actually went back,” I muttered under my breath, more to myself than Ronan. Ronan glanced at me sideways. “Who? Callan?” I nodded. “Yeah. To the countryside. Why the hell would he go back there after everything?” “I didn’t even know he left,” Ronan admitted, his tone tight with frustration. “Celina didn’t mention anything either.” “She did. Today.” I rubbed the back of my neck, where a migraine had started to build. “She said I’ve been too wrapped up in Elvira to notice.” Ronan didn’t respond immediately, and the silence was loud. “Did you know,” I added, “that Kairo has a clothing line?” Ronan’s brow arched.

Jaxon The office walls felt like they were closing in on me. I paced back and forth, my hands buried deep in my hair, my breath shallow with frustration. I couldn’t think. Couldn’t focus. Lucian’s words kept echoing through my head like a curse I couldn’t shake. Kairo. Of all the people. Of all the damn people. I shoved a chair out of my way and sat at my desk, staring blankly at the top drawer. My head throbbed, temples pulsing in sync with my heartbeat. It wasn’t just the betrayal that hurt, it’s the fact that Kairo is just using this as bait for me, and to me, this is where I could pour my creativity into. But my body wasn’t reacting with rage alone; there was something more behind the storm churning inside me. It was a bad headache. I needed to take some meds. My fingers hovered over the drawer before yanking it open. Inside sat the small black box gift Elvira had given me days ago. I remembered how her hands trembled slightly when she handed it to me, how her eyes held a gli

  • Alpha’s Moonchild   Chapter 91

Jaxon The afternoon flittered the glass as I pulled up to the office. A storm in the clouds, as if rain was about to fall, other than that, I could feel the pressure building, not just in the sky, but in my chest. Lucian had called me less than an hour ago. No explanation. No small talk. Just a clipped, “I’m at your office. We need to talk.” Talon was waiting outside the entrance, arms folded, a shadow across his face. The second I stepped out of the car, he nodded toward the doors. “He’s already inside.” I muttered a curse. If he was already here, it meant he wanted me unsettled. I marched through the lobby, ignoring the greetings from staffs as I took the elevator to the top floor. My heart beat a little faster the closer I got to my office, the metallic ring of Lucian’s voice still bouncing in my skull. He was standing at the far end of the room when I walked in, one hand tucked into his pocket, the other holding a glass of water he hadn’t touched. The skyline framed him, high

Elvira The morning sun filtered lazily through the cream-colored curtains, casting pale golden streaks over my bed. I stretched like a cat, back arching, the sheets slipping from my legs as I rolled onto my stomach. I was grinning before I even opened my eyes. A new week. And next week…My official makeup training started. I still couldn’t believe it. Jaxon had not only paid for the full course but insisted on enrolling me under a prestigious master artist whose schedule was already stacked for months. He didn’t just pull strings, he rewrote them. I squealed into my pillow, grinning like a maniac, before flipping onto my back. “This is really happening,” I whispered to no one. And then, like an uninvited ghost, the thought drifted in. The cursed bond. The happiness in my chest wilted just a little. Jaxon told me, insisted, that it wasn’t my fault. That what bound us, what poisoned the edges of what we were slowly becoming, had nothing to do with me. But… wasn’t it? My powers h
