ELARA
Not again. That man is never going to leave me alone, is he? “Get up now and follow us quietly, or we’ll force you to,” one of the soldiers barks. I glance at the door that has been ripped out of its frame before looking back at the soldiers. “You’ve made this room unsafe for my kids. I can’t leave them here alone, unprotected.” “That’s your fucking business!” one of them snaps. “Now get up before the Alpha gets angry.” “Have you no heart at all? I said—” I start, but Isla suddenly appears in the doorway, a look of worry and confusion dancing across her features. Sighing, I turn my attention to my children and kiss them each on the forehead. “Mommy will be back soon, okay?” “Please don’t leave us,” they cry, their voices cutting through my heart. I inhale sharply, then look at my babies, stroking my fingers through their hair. “Mommy will be back soon, okay? Aunt Isla will look after you for now.” I turn to look at Isla, and she gives me a reassuring nod. Before I can even say anything else, the soldiers grab me on each arm, forcefully pulling me up and dragging me along with them. They take me to Alpha Jaxon’s office and fling me on the floor as though I am a rag. “Here she is, Alpha,” one of the soldiers tells him as they stand aside. Alpha Jaxon dismisses them with a lazy wave as he drops a bottle of liquor on the desk. Turning his attention to me, a wide grin appears on his face. “Oh, my Elara!” He stands up from his seat and opens his arms wide as he approaches me. He’s only in deep blue shorts, wearing a black robe, his chest bare. He is clearly drunk and reeks of alcohol. I panic, knowing immediately that this might be worse than I expected. Alpha Jaxon acts recklessly whenever he is drunk. He comes to a stop in front of me, and I hold my breath. “As beautiful as ever,” he says as he leans in and places two fingers beneath my chin, lifting my face up. “Why did you want to see me?” I seethe. “Isn’t it obvious? The reason I want you?” He licks his bottom lip, looking at me with lust in his eyes. Not again! “You asked me to choose between warming your bed and working as a maid. I chose to be a maid, and I have been doing all that you asked. Please let me go,” I plead. “The last time, I gave you options,” he trails his finger delicately across my neck. “But you see, Elara, I can’t seem to get my mind off you.” I suck in a breath, trying so hard not to push him off me, because his hands on me, his stinking breath—everything about him disgusts me. “Oh, Elara.” He straightens up, his eyes scanning every inch of me. Then suddenly, his gaze goes dark as he growls lowly. “Strip.” “What?” My eyes widen in perplexity. “Don’t make me repeat myself. Strip!” he groans authoritatively. “Alpha, please.” My lips begin to quiver, fear consuming me as I think of what he wants to do to me. “Or should I help you?” Before I can even process anything, he grips the neckline of my dress and rips it open, exposing my chest. I instinctively wrap my arms around my chest to cover my nudity as I begin to jerk backward in a desperate attempt to run away from him. “Come here!” he growls as he grabs my arm, pulls me up with ease, and flings me on the sofa in one corner of the office. “Alpha, please,” I plead desperately, tears pouring down my face. “You promised not to take it from me forcefully. Please. I beg you.” “I changed my mind.” He grins, licking his lips disgustingly. “Alpha...” I whisper, my breath hitching. A dark and lustful look flickers across his eyes as he climbs on top of me and hangs my legs up in the air. I try to wiggle out of his hold, but he is bigger and way stronger than me that I stand no chance. Suddenly, the door shoots open and his wife, Morgana, appears in the doorway, her eyes burning with fury as they settle on the scene before her. Alpha Jaxon doesn’t notice her at first. He’s too focused on forcing himself on me. But when he does realize she’s there, he leaps off me like he’s been burned. “Elara!” Morgana snarls, baring her canines, her claws emerging as rage explodes in her eyes. “I’ll kill you!” “I swear it wasn’t me,” I cry bitterly, shaking my head desperately. “He tried to rape me.” “You seduced him!” she screeches. She charges at me and tries to cut through my flesh with her claws, but I am quick enough to roll over, dodging the attack. She tries to attack me again, but Alpha Jaxon quickly grabs her hands, holding her back. “Morgana, dear, you don’t want to waste your sweat on a lowlife like her.” “I will fucking kill her!” she snarls, fire flickering in the depths of her eyes. It is clear that the Alpha is the one trying to rape me. She knows that, but chooses to face me instead, accusing me of seducing him. Why would I ever seduce someone I despise so much? “It’s okay, baby.” He pulls her closer to him, stroking her hair with his fingers. But she is still red with rage, her determination to kill me thick in her eyes. “You will suffer for this. You are not getting away with it,” she growls. “Guards!” Immediately, two guards rush inside the office, their gazes roaming between the three of us as they await orders. “Throw this filth into the dungeon,” she growls, the look on her face dark and dangerous. My insides twist, chills running down my spine. “Tomorrow, she’ll be eliminated. Along with her stinking children. No one gets near my husband and lives to tell the tale,” Morgana adds.KIERANTHREE MONTHS LATERIsla gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, and a few days later Vivianne is also in labor. I ordered her to be removed from the dungeon and taken to the hospital so that she could have a safe delivery.I am standing in a corner of the labor room with Reid, waiting for the baby to be safely delivered so I can send Vivianne to wherever her father is. She is not escaping death after everything she did to my woman. After a while of waiting, baby cries sound through the room as the doctor pulls the new life out of its mother.“It’s a girl!” the doctor announces. The baby is innocent. It’s a pity that her mother would have to die the same day that she is born. But I’ll see that she is well taken care of. I am not a monster who would punish an innocent child for her parent’s sins. After cleaning the baby, the doctor hands her to me. Staring at her, I see her mother’s eyes. I just hope that she’ll not turn out to be anything like her.“Please,” Vivianne cries out, an
ELARAA FEW MONTHS LATERI wake up to the babies playing around the bed, jumping and giggling while Kieran and I slept. They are such early birds. We were supposed to wake them up with a surprise, but here they are, awake already before the sun even rises.“Good morning, beautiful,” Kieran’s voice fills my head, staring into my eyes.A month after we started living in this pack, the Luna ceremony was held, and Kieran and I marked each other. So, I am now part of this pack.“Good morning, handsome,” I reply with a smile.“Look, they are awake!” Adrien beams, pointing at the both of us.“Come here,” Kieran groans, and he grabs the both of them at once, tickling them while they giggle uncontrollably.“Do you know what today is?” He laughs as he continues tickling them.“Yes, yes, yes!” they giggle. “It’s our birthday.”He finally releases them, a wide smile spreading on his face.“Happy birthday, precious beings,” he kisses them on their foreheads before wrapping his arms around them.“
ELARAThis is the first time I have been genuinely happy in a very long while. I had always known that without Kieran, I’d never be fully happy again, but I tried to push through and failed miserably. He is the only one I’ll ever love, the only one I’ll ever be with. It’s morning already, and we are still here, lying naked inside this cave. This feels like peace and serenity. I get why he always comes here to clear his mind.“What are you thinking about?” he mutters.I turn to look at him. “You.”“Please don’t tell me that you are thinking about leaving me.”“No,” I shake my head. “I am thinking about staying.”“Hmm,” he breathes.“There’s something I am worried about, Kieran,” I mutter. He tucks my hair behind my ear. “You can talk to me about anything.”“The Mountain Spring Pack. I am my father’s only heir. There’s no one else that can ascend that position. I don’t know how to balance being a Luna and an Alpha.”“So, is this you accepting to become my Luna?” He places his palm on m
ELARAA smile curls on my lips as I move closer to him and lay beside him.“I’m the one invading your privacy, so I should be the one apologizing,” I quietly say.He chuckles.“I came to make sure that you are okay,” I add.He turns on his side and props himself on one arm. “I am, now that you are here.”He takes his hand to my lips and traces a line across them. “I thought you would have left.”“You asked your men to not let me go, remember?” I say as I also turn to my side and prop myself up on one arm.A smile curls on his lips. “Forgive me then. I just couldn’t let you go. I never want to lose you.”“You are not going to lose me,” I promptly say.“I wasn’t leaving because I wanted to leave you. I just needed to go be with my father. He’s alone, dealing with Marcel’s grief. He needs me,” I explain. His brows furrow. “I am sorry, I didn’t—”“It’s okay.” My hand reaches for his brows, and I rub my thumb over them.We stay quiet for a moment, just staring at each other, desire eviden
ELARAAfter Kieran leaves for the dungeon, Harold and Isla take us to their room. We wait there for a while, waiting for Kieran’s return. The kids are traumatized out of their minds, and I am trying so hard to make sure that they are fine with my arms wrapped around them.Harold suddenly clears his throat, and I turn to look at him.“Elara,” he calls, “there’s something you need to know. I need to see you outside.”“I know,” I whisper, feeling a lone tear roll down my cheek. “I know.”Marcel is dead. I felt the tether snap about ten minutes ago. I am not crying because I feel sad about losing the man who has been trying to murder me. It’s just all the memories we had together that saddens me. Even though they were never real, even though he never meant the words he told me, at least they were my only comfort at some point. We continue waiting for Kieran to return, expecting him to return any minute since he’s done at the dungeon. But when he doesn’t return after another hour, I ask H
KIERANMy security system is in shambles and needs thorough cleansing. Reid had mind-linked me and told me that one of the warriors had tried breaking Vivianne out. He even killed a few of the other warriors just to achieve this. Thankfully, Reid was still in the dungeon, guarding Marcel, so he was able to tackle the situation quickly.Whoever that warrior is, he is so dead.“Under no circumstance must you leave their side,” I instruct Harold as I walk outside the room with Elara.“Alpha...” his eyes widen with shock, “you were just—”Even he is surprised at how up and energetic I am already. Elara is just so blessed and talented.“Take care of them,” I groan before dashing off to the dungeon. When I get there, the first thing I do to the warrior is give him a heavy blow to his face for fucking daring me.“Arghhh!” He screams loudly.“Who hired you!” I growl, landing another punch to his stomach. He just holds his stomach, screaming in pain an
