MARIA'S POV

Almost a week later, all I can say is that it's been one heck of a vacation. I woke up on a random Tuesday morning to the smell of burnt toast and the sound of someone swearing in my kitchen.

For a terrifying moment, I thought maybe I was being robbed by the world’s least competent burglar.

Then I remembered – I’d let Frank stay over last night.

Well. “Stay over” was a generous way of saying he’d shown up with Thai takeout, a bottle of wine, and that sheepish grin that still somehow worked on me. We’d ended up falling asleep on the couch halfway through some terrible action movie.

And now he was… whatever this was.

I swung my legs out of bed and padded down the hallway, tugging his hoodie tighter around me.

When I reached the kitchen, I stopped in the doorway and crossed my arms.

Frank Williams — former workaholic, perpetual flirt, serial avoider of anything remotely resembling intimacy — was standing there barefoot, wearing my apron (backwards), wielding a spatula like i

  • Alpha's Regret: Mommy, Daddy, We Want to Be Together!   Chapter 309 – I Think This Is What I've Waited for All My Life

MARIA'S POV By the fourth day of paradise, I was beginning to suspect that Frank and I were too good at ruining it.Don’t get me wrong — we’d had our moments. Oh yeah, we definitely had our moments. There was the morning he made me laugh so hard at breakfast that I nearly choked on a papaya seed. Or snorted it to my brain. It was hard to tell which exact way my body had been planning on sabotaging me with. There was the sunset when we danced barefoot in the sand to a terrible street musician’s guitar. A for effort to both him and the musician. I'm not going to lie, there were times I was tempted to march up there and drag the beautiful instrument he had turned into an instrument of noise pollution and keep it far away from him – or hell, even play it myself. But I guess there was something endearing about the musician trying and not giving up. Same with the man in front of me.There was even the time he coaxed me into the ocean at midnight and held me so close I forgot about the chil

MARIA'S POV It turns out, Frank plans vacations the same way he lives the rest of his life – maddeningly, infuriatingly, perfectly.I wanted to hate it.I tried to hate it.But the moment I stepped out of the car and saw the villa — all whitewashed walls and sweeping ocean views, perched right over water so turquoise it hurt to look at — I lost every ounce of righteous indignation I’d packed in my carry on.“Oh.” I breathed, holding my tote bag just a little tighter.Behind me, Frank’s voice was annoyingly smug. “Not bad, huh?”I spun around and narrowed my eyes at him, mostly to save face. “Fine. You get one point. One.”“Mm,” he said, reaching past me to grab the luggage. “By the end of the week, I’ll have at least five.”“Dream big, Williams.” I shot back, but my lips betrayed me, curling upward despite myself. The villa was… obscene, honestly.A private infinity pool, a bedroom that looked like it had been ripped out of a magazine, and an outdoor shower that — judging by Frank’s

FRANK'S POVI hated dressing up.Always had. Although being the editor in chief for one of the biggest food magazines in the country pretty much required dressing up from time to time, it still didn’t change my stance on it.But as I stood in front of my bathroom mirror, trying — and failing — to get my tie to sit straight, it occurred to me that tonight wasn’t really about me.It was about her.Maria.And I’d already wasted enough damn time when it came to her.So I gritted my teeth, yanked the knot into something that vaguely resembled functional, and grabbed my jacket.I almost didn’t go.Again.When Sophia's text came through, “You have exactly fifteen minutes to get your stubborn self to Le Jardin before I come drag you here myself”, I’d stared at it for a solid minute before answering.Because part of me — the stupid part — still wondered if showing up would even matter anymore. Somewhere in the back of my mind though, I knew that if I truly did not show up, Sophia and her beau

  • Alpha's Regret: Mommy, Daddy, We Want to Be Together!   Chapter 306 – Because I Got Tired of Pretending

MARIA'S POVThe first thing I noticed when I stepped out onto the terrace was how quiet it was.The hum of jazz and clinking glasses still carried faintly from inside, but out here — under the stars and city lights — it felt like a different world entirely. And there he was.Frank.Leaning against the railing like he belonged there, hands stuffed into his pockets, tie slightly crooked, eyes fixed somewhere in the distance as though he could stare down the skyline itself. He looked good. Annoyingly good. The kind of good that made you regret every hour you spent convincing yourself you were over it.I crossed my arms and cleared my throat. “You’re late.”He didn’t even flinch. Just glanced at me over his shoulder, one corner of his mouth quirking upward. The infuriating man. “And yet… here I am.”That earned him an eye roll. “Oh, don’t flatter yourself. You’re not that impressive.”His grin widened, and he turned fully toward me. “You sure about that?”Oh, he was insufferable. And — da

SOPHIA’S POVIf you’d told me even a month ago that I’d be waltzing into the opening of Le Jardin de fleur, the most buzzed about restaurant in the city, on the arm of Nathan Bennett, my mate, I would’ve laughed you straight out of my kitchen.Yet here we were. I chuckled softly. How things changed. It had been very last minute that the move to the pack had been postponed. The house wasn't quite there yet and it was simply a stroke of luck that Maria had called, with an invitation in hand and a friends/social outing in the other. And who was I not to jump at the opportunity? Anything to mingle in the culinary world and check out the friendly competition. So here we were, in the finest of outfits suitable for the event and a palpable excitement in our veins. We'd been looking forward to it from the moment we got the invite. The valet swung open the car door, and Nathan stepped out first — all clean lines, midnight suit, and the kind of quiet confidence that made heads turn. It was sex
