Thalia’s POV:

Princess Elena’s gaze followed the guard’s accusing finger. When it landed on me, her eyes widened in sheer, unadulterated shock.

“Thalia?”

I swallowed, the sound deafening in my own ears. My blood-stained hands began to tremble violently, a visible testament to the guilt and fear coursing through me. My mind scrambled, desperately trying to cobble together a story, any story, that could explain my presence at the scene of the Alpha’s attack.

“Yes, Your Grace,” the guard confirmed, his voice solid and sure, anchoring the accusation firmly to my name. “We found her kneeling over him, wailing.”

A heavy, suffocating silence descended upon the infirmary. Every pair of eyes—confused, suspicious, and accusing—was locked on my trembling form. Elena’s stare was a physical weight. Finally, her head turned slowly away from me, her piercing gaze shifting back to the guard.

“So you’re telling me there were no guards with the Alpha? Just… her?” The question was laced wi

  • Alpha’s Regret: Reclaiming His Forsaken Mate   Chapter 64

Thalia’s POV: My eyes flew wide, my brows knitting together in pure, unadulterated shock. The question hung in the air between us, absurd and terrifying. Princess Elena remained perfectly still, her arms crossed, a statue waiting for a confession I couldn't give. “I d-don’t understand,” I stammered, my voice thin with genuine bewilderment. She took a slow, deliberate step closer, the space between us shrinking. The calmness in her voice was more unnerving than any shout could have been. “It’s a very simple question, Thalia. Have you been sleeping with my brother or not?” “I definitely haven’t, Your Grace,” I insisted, the words coming out firmer than I felt, the confusion still clear on my face. “Hm.” The sound was a low, skeptical hum. A knowing, suspicious smile played on her lips as she nodded slowly, a gesture that screamed she didn’t believe a single word. “I swear to you,” I pressed, desperation creeping into my tone. The accusation was so fa

Thalia’s POV: “T-then who is?” I stammered, the words crumbling like the last of my hope. “Miss,” the woman said, turning fully toward me. My grip on her sleeve loosened as she moved. “Please, you must try to calm down.” She placed a steadying hand on my shoulder, but her touch felt distant, a feeble attempt to calm a storm she definitely couldn’t understand. Calm down? How could I? Alpha Xander was bleeding his life onto the sterile sheets, his consciousness a flickering candle in the wind. It was impossible to be calm. “C-can I just speak to the pack doctor?” I urged, my voice a raw blend of tears and terror, my blood-stained palms held up in a helpless plea. “Well, you see the thing is—” **BAM!** The infirmary doors exploded inward, slamming against the walls with a force that made everyone jump. Every head in the room snapped toward the entrance. “Where is he?!” The voice was a blade of pure, undiluted panic. It was her. Princ

Thalia’s POV: “Make way for the Alpha!” “Make way for the Alpha!” The roar of the guards carrying Xander’s limp body tore through the night, a desperate command that sent shockwaves through the gathered men. Guards scrambled aside, their confused murmurs forming a buzzing cloud of panic around us. Windows creaked open in the houses lining the path, pale faces peering out into the darkness, drawn by the commotion and the terrifying sight of their bleeding Alpha. I fought to keep up, weaving through the forest of tall, armored bodies, my breath catching in my throat. The world had narrowed to the horrifying sight of Xander’s pale, still form and the trail of dark blood staining the stones. We finally crashed against the infirmary door. *BANG. BANG.* Silence. *BANG. BANG. BANG!* “Emergency! Open up!” a guard bellowed, hammering his fist against the wood. Still Nothing. I shoved my way to the front, my composure shattering. “Please!” I screamed, my voice raw an

Thalia’s POV: The path to the perimeter wall was deserted, the only sound was the frantic rhythm of my own breathing and the crunch of my steps on the cold stone. A deep, gnawing dread settled in my stomach. Where was everyone? How could a troop of armed guards and an Alpha simply vanish? The cold night air bit through my thin dress, and I wrapped my arms around myself, shivering as much from fear as from the chill. I peered between the darkened local houses that lined the path, but saw only shadows. Nothing. *How far could they have gone?* My pace quickened from a frantic walk to a desperate jog. Then, up ahead, I saw it: a narrower path branching off to the left. I hesitated, wondering if it was a shortcut. But a flicker of movement in the distance on the main path made me freeze. Torches. The bobbing, flickering light of torches far ahead. *It had to be them.* I abandoned the side path and ran, my lungs burning, my dress clutched in my sweaty palms. I had to cat

Meanwhile back at Alpha Xander’s Pack.. Thalia’s POV: The moment Lillian vanished into the shadows, a cold knot of panic tightened in my stomach. I wondered how I was going to distract the search party from going in her direction. Then, it clicked. A desperate, fragile plan. I wouldn't try to convince the guards; they’d never listen to me. I had to get to Alpha Xander himself. If I could convince him I’d seen Lillian heading north, his command would redirect the entire search. It was a long shot, but it was the only one I had. My thoughts were shattered by a guttural roar from outside. “Looks like she went this way!” “No, you idiot, the tracks lead east!” another voice bellowed back. The angry bickering of the guards was getting closer. They were fanning out, and it was only a matter of time before someone chose the right path—*her* path. I had to move. Now. Gathering the heavy skirts of my flowy dress in my fists, I lifted the hem to keep from tripping and h
