Edward’s POV

I stood before the full-length mirror in my private chambers, lifting my wrists to my nose for the fourth time in ten minutes. The new scent masking formula Dr. Voss had developed under my death threat seemed to be working perfectly, but paranoia made me check repeatedly for any trace of my true Rogue nature.

The silvery ointment had absorbed completely into my skin, leaving no visible residue while creating an invisible barrier against detection. Even my enhanced werewolf senses couldn’t penetrate the chemical mask. Penelope’s newly awakened abilities would find nothing suspicious.

Satisfied with my preparations, I smoothed my hair and adjusted my expensive suit jacket. Time to return to the Benjamin pack mansion and play the role of grieving, concerned son.

The drive took twenty minutes through winding forest roads. When I pulled into the circular driveway, Edward’s mother rushed out the front door before I’d even turned off the engine. Tears streaked down her face, and

  • Alpha's Regret: Return of the Rejected Mate   Chapter 244: Partners in Battle

Penelope’s POVSmoke stung my eyes as I ducked beneath a mutated wolf’s claws. The creature was twice the size of a normal wolf, with elongated limbs and strange growths protruding from its spine. I rolled across the dirt, coming up in a fighting stance as buildings burned across the battlefield. This border town—the fourth one that was targeted—was suffering the worst attack yet. The Rogues had clearly saved their strongest forces for this assault.Through the chaos, I spotted Dominic across the town square. He fought three attackers simultaneously, his powerful body moving with surprising grace for someone his size. He knocked one creature back with a powerful kick, then spun to block another’s attack. But a third circled behind him, ready to strike at his exposed back.Without thinking, I raced toward them. My enhanced Moon Goddess blood made me faster than most fighters—male or female. I reached the third attacker just as it lunged, driving my silver-edged blade deep into its shoul

  • Alpha's Regret: Return of the Rejected Mate   Chapter 243: Promise at the Grave

Julian’s POVThe early morning air nipped at my skin as I walked through the quiet forest. Dead leaves crunched under my boots. This path was familiar now—I’d taken it weekly since my father’s death three years ago.I stopped at a small clearing where sunlight broke through the trees. A simple stone marker stood alone, moss growing along its edges. No fancy engravings or golden letters—just a name carved roughly into the rock: THOMAS HARMON.My father.I knelt on the damp earth and placed the wildflowers I’d gathered along the way. Yellow and purple blooms against gray stone. The colors always reminded me of his favorite shirt.“I’m close, Dae,” I said, running my fingers over his name. “The Council that ordered your death will finally face justice.”Birds chirped in the trees above me. If I closed my eyes, I could almost pretend he was listening.“We’ve taken three border settlements already,” I continued. “Their defenses are falling apart. The pack leaders spend more time arguing tha

Edward’s POVI leaned closer to the main screen, watching as my people attacked three border towns at once. We’d spent months getting ready for this exact moment. On the large map in front of me, red marks showed where my fighters had already broken through.“Northern town is ours,” said my lead fighter through the radio. “We cut their phones and radios first, just like you said. Their guards didn’t even see us coming.”“Good,” I said, feeling satisfied as I watched the footage. Our cameras showed panicked people running while my fighters took control of buildings. “What about the southern attack?”“We’ve got problems,” came a frustrated reply. “These women are fighting back hard. They’re using moves we’ve never seen before.”I frowned and zoomed in on the southern town. Female werewolves moved together in tight groups, protecting each other’s backs while taking down my fighters one by one. They clearly knew what they were doing. Penelope had trained them well.“How many of our soldier

Penelope’s POVThe training facility doors felt heavier than I remembered. I pushed through them slowly, taking in the space I’d built from nothing—now diminished in my absence.Equipment sat dusty in corners. The once-polished floors showed scuff marks from neglect. Only a handful of women practiced basic fighting moves, their form sloppy and uncertain.“Commander’s here!” Nora shouted from across the room.Everyone stopped and turned. Some faces lit up with relief, others looked away guiltily. Nora rushed over, grabbing my arm with more emotion than she usually showed.“Thank the goddess you’re back,” she said. “Everything is falling apart.”I looked around at what remained of my program. “I can see that. What happened?”“Come to the office. You need to see the reports.”I followed her through the training area, noting torn punching bags and broken practice weapons nobody had bothered to fix.Inside the office, maps covered every wall. Red marks showed problem spots across all territ

Dominic’s POVI slammed the front door harder than necessary, shaking the hinges as I returned from another sixteen-hour patrol. Three days since Kelsey’s sentencing, and the packhouse felt like foreign territory—hostile and uncomfortable despite being my ancestral home.Guards nodded respectfully as I passed. They weren’t just monitoring Kelsey’s house arrest; they were protecting me from murdering her in her sleep. The eastern wing light still burned despite the late hour. Kelsey moved through those rooms like a ghost—present but not participating in household life. Alexander’s cries came from the nursery upstairs, a sound that normally drew me immediately.Tonight, Nick’s voice answered just as I made my way to the nursery.“There’s my little prince,” he crooned, his tone paternal and comfortable. “I’ve got you.”I froze at the bottom of the stairs, listening. Nick spent increasing time here, ostensibly upgrading security systems for Kelsey’s monitoring but spending suspicious amoun

Kelsey’s POVMy legs wouldn’t stop shaking. I sat alone before the full Council, wearing the simple gray dress Nick told me would make me look appropriately remorseful. The bruises on my throat had faded to yellowish smudges, barely visible beneath my makeup.Elder Francis returned to his position, looking far older than when he’d exonerated Penelope ten minutes earlier.“Kelsey of Darkwood Pack,” he announced formally. “You face charges of evidence tampering, perjury before this Council, and conspiracy against an Alpha Female.”My mouth went dry. Each charge carried potential sentences of years—decades when combined. Alexander would grow up without me if they imposed maximum penalties.“How do you respond to these charges?”“Guilty,” I whispered, remembering what Nick had advised me. My damaged throat made my voice raspy. “I’m deeply sorry for my actions.”Alpha Mark leaned forward from the northern delegation. “The Council acknowledges your confession saved considerable resources in
