Chapter 13: The little one needs help

EMILY:

I was still desperately waiting for the young girl to call me mommy. They had already started searching around and looking at some of the patient's if any of them was strange. My heart was beating so fast and right when I thought I would finally be caught, I heard her voice.

"M.. mommy."

I smiled and widened my eyes. "Say it again." I whispered to her. She was bolder than before.

"Mommy."

I outstretched my hands towards her and hugged her tight. When they saw us, they only walked past us because they didn't want to interrupt a mother and child's time. I breathed out loud, and took a strand of her hair after they had walked past us.

"Thank you so much. I'll repay the favor one day." I said.

I suddenly looked around. It did seem like the girl was all alone in the hospital.

"Can I ask you a question?" I said, and she nodded her head. "Where are your parents?"

The expression on her face suddenly changed into an unhappy one. She frowned and looked away.
