Chapter 27: Heartbroken

"For everything. I couldn't protect you, Emily, I'm sorry. I should have kept you away from everything. It was just my job, and I failed." Christian said to me.

I still didn't raise my head high to stare at him. Instead, his words comforted me so deeply that I couldn't help staring at him. There was something about him that was making me extremely happy.

He smiled at him and I brought out my hand so he would hold onto it.

"Thank you, Christian. From the very first day, you saved me, thank you."

I smiled at him like he has smiled at me. I didn't want to tell him that I had seen Tyler outside, and what Tyler had said.

"You still wanna sleep? Maybe I should get your drugs."

I shook my head in negation. "I want us to stay like this for a while. Stay with me till I fall asleep."

Staying with Lilith was making me think less of the child that I had lost, and staying with Christian was helping me forget Tyler and the fact that he chose Karen over me again.

I wanted to fall asleep soon
